This was a big Publix at the Winter Park Village mall. I just came to get a gift and birthday card to a great friend, and I was amazed on how big and upscale it was. The produce and bakery are was spacious, and the wine area was nice too. I was able to get the birthday and gift cards. I found an open counter with an attendant, who was able to get me checked out in no time. The bagger asked if I wanted to the cards bagged, which I said yes. He got it done quickly. Both were very polite. This Publix reminds me of the one at the Marketplace near Dr. Phillips. I believe they used to have the Aprons cooking demonstrations. I think that's why this Publix is bigger than the normal ones. And best of all, they are one of the few Publix that still has the weight scale. This was a very large and more upscale Publix. Parking can be crowded, but luckily the mall parking is also available and not to far of a walk either. Definitely a great Publix in the Winter Park area. Overall: A- read more

This location of Publix is really really nice. Everyone I have encountered has been so nice and helpful. The shelves are always stocked and somehow always perfectly lined up. Like it looks like someone is constantly out there straightening the labels on jars kind of thing. The isles are wide and there is no crowding in any area. So much room to wander and lots of selection to choose from. They have a place to eat after they make you your pub sub that even has a microwave. The Starbucks is now gone but they still get bagels from Einstein which is nice too. Everything you get at the hot bar is so fresh and generous. Great place to stop for lunch or shopping. My go to Publix especially since it's only 6 minutes from me! I tend to do instacart orders here more often BUT I always go here for my Publix sub! The staff is starting to recognize me as a regular, they're super friendly and helpful. The store is always clean, inside and out! I also feel like they're the best well stocked even during the holidays. I've also noticed they're the go to location for weird foods too lol The only downside is......the parking lot. Groceries are pricey here but what I've come for is the pub sub. Last weekend was my first time having one and I'm HOOKED . I ordered the buffalo style tender sub with blue cheese crumbles, chipotle cheese, banana peppers, MORE blue cheese crumbles, and lettuce . This publix is my favorite! It has a starbucks inside for when you need a coffee conveniently while running errands. I come here over the publix that's closer to my house because it's laid out better and the parking lot is much more easily navigable. The staff here are always super friendly and helpful, whether is comes to navigating the publix app, finding something you need, or getting the best deal on groceries. The store is clean and I love the free samples they give out every once in a while. The team here seems to have fun with hosting little events for the community. The store is well kept and clean and for a quick grocery run for more common items, a pharmacy pickup or a Buffalo Chicken Tenders Sub it is perfect. Wow Wow Wow. If you are looking for a cheap option for your lunch don't go anywhere else. At this Publix location you can find whatever you like. 1- of course you can get a fat pub sub 2- they have an Asian buffet section with 4-5 options including orange chicken, Mongolian beef, white/brown rice and noodles. They occasionally have meat balls too. 3- they have another section which gives you $5 meal options. You choose a protein option as well as two sides and you have sides going from rice and beans Mac and. Cheese and etc 4- and then comes my favorite section which I can best explain in photos ( check out he photos I have posted) . You have grilled salmon, chicken, pot roast and many many amazing sides ( the sides are very much like Whole Foods but a lot cheaper) 5- you have usually a good selection of 3-4 soups as well 6- there is a Starbucks and that can give you the best happy ending after eating your food 7- parking during lunch time could be difficult. So this is a review for not just the Publix store, but also a review for the Publix Aprons Cooking School located inside. As part of Bite30 month, local Yelper extraordinaire Kelly H. organized a UYE at Publix Aprons Winter Park Cooking School. After the Bite 30 dinner event, I stayed back and did some shopping hence the combo review. So first, lets talk about the Publix Aprons Cooking School experience. Firstly I had a hard time finding the location, and finally saw a sign that directed me to Aisle 14. I was there a bit before 6:30, and so waited around and started chatting with the other diners, as doors only opened on the dot, and not any earlier. One of the chefs came out and introduced himself and then marked our names off the attendance roles and we were the escorted to our assigned seats/ table. Luckily Kelly had called ahead and so all the Yelp crew was spread out next to each other ( I think we took over 5 tables with 4 chairs). Our watch and learn sessions were conducted by 3 chefs, each of whom took a specific course. All of them were warm, engaging and funny. The menu for the evening consisted of: - Asparagus, Crab, and Triple Cream Brie Soufflé; - Tuscan-Style Grilled Filet Mignon with Braised Rapini, Rosemary Potatoes and Gorgonzola-Truffle Butter; and - Chocolate Pots de Crème. I dont eat beef (being part of the Hindu faith) and I had called ahead and asked for vegetarian substitute and was very happy with the Portobello mushroom I got instead of the Filet Mignon. My Soufflé too has been swapped out for a veggie one and it was delicious. The only menu item I was on the fence about was the Chocolate Pots de Crème for dessert. It has cinnamon-cayenne and I'm not a massive fan of this spice. Otherwise the texture was so rich and creamy! There was also an option to get a coupon to buy kitchen appliance at a discount in the store, and I was tempted by the salt grinder, but decided to pass. They also did a partnership with a California Winery and Stella for drinks and while I loved the Stella Cidre, the wines overall were not to my taste. So then after the dinner, I wandered thru the aisles of the Store along with Yelpers Erin G and Lisa W. Erin G found this stores discount section and wow - they had some really good stuff like a 3 in one tool to peel, open and slice an avocado as well as an onion marmalade! Everything was well stocked and the store aisles were neat, clean and bright. Checkout was smooth too and it was also interesting to find a Starbucks store inside the Publix. I also visited the loo and it was very clean and well-kept and most importantly, well ventilated! Overall, I had an enjoyable time checking out the store and the class too was enormous fun. Why on Earth am I setting time aside to write a review for a Publix? This Publix in Winter Park Village is absolutely magical and I always need to spread the word about it! Publix goes HAM when it comes to their flagship stores. You can spend an entire day in here taking their cooking classes in a designated space, sampling food from stations such as sushi, ramen, Chinese buffet, a gourmet cheese section and much more. I personally love stopping by to get a $6 bowl of ramen for lunch. Did I mention there's a Starbucks inside? It's huge, it's clean and filled with friendly workers of course. I am a fan of this Publix! Definitely worthy of a 5-star rating. Selection: They've got a large variety of products - seems to be more products than most Publix in the area. Selection is always fresh. Pricing of products is a bit high, but that is usually what I expect from Publix. Layout of the store is set up a BIT different than my usual Publix that I visit. Although, signs were bright and bold so I had no issues finding what I needed. They had a huge selection of cheese near the produce - there was even a Publix employee behind the cheese counter helping out some customers. Cleanliness: This store appears to be very clean. I mean, it is Winter Park.. soooo... Isles were clean and well lit. Loved the view at the front entrance - produce, produce, produce for days! Location: Great location! In the heart of Winter Park Village - which has other great shopping/eating spots. Parking can be a bit difficult a times. Stopped in around noon on Saturday and the parking lot looked to be a bit full. My cashier when I checked out Saturday seemed to be having a bad day. He wasn't too happy ... but the bagger was! I have to say I have never had a Publix's employee be rude to me until today. I was at the deli and i was waited on by Marta. I had asked for Maple Brown Sugar Turkey, and she seemed to be annoyed but I let it go and I asked for it to be shaved. I also wanted roast beef and before I could say that I wanted it sandwich cut she went off on me saying I could not get it shaved. I said sorry I didn't even ask for it shaved. I was going to get more at the deli but at this point i felt like it would just be easier to get away from her. To add more salt to the wound she gave me ham instead of the turkey I ordered I will never shop at that Publix again read more

One of the nicest Publix stores I've ever seen. While it feels a little silly to give a Publix a 5-star rating, if there was ever a Publix to earn that rating, this would be the one. Located on Orlando Avenue in the Winter Park Village Plaza, this Publix is very similar in set-up and feel to the big Whole Foods locations in Altamonte and Doctor Phillips. When you arrive, you instantly see a huge fresh grocery section along with a bunch of little fresh cuisine areas. This Publix even has a little ice cream stand (with Moose Tracks, my favorite!) to go along with its Chinese buffet and other offerings. After getting past what is essentially a food court area, we encountered multiple stands (rather than your typical single stand) offering food samples. All of the food samples were ready (not always a sure thing) and tasty (ditto). Once we got our fill on snacks, we headed back past the ridiculously large wine area to the butcher area. We found a cold case with HUGE meat chunks for really good prices. While we usually buy our meat at Whole Foods, the price and alleged quality of the meat caused us to take and chance and buy some delicious Ribeye. After purchasing our Ribeye, we headed out into the rest of the store. While it was your typical Publix in terms of general aisle offerings, the store itself is massive and has an infinite number of BOGOs all around the place. There were also plenty of open checkout lanes, so we were able to get through and paid fairly quickly in a fairly packed store. Overall, this Publix is one of the nicest grocery stores in the Orlando area. If you are looking to shop at a nice upgraded store and not have to pay the Whole Foods prices, this is the place to go. read more

So after a 6 month remodel, this Publix is finally re-open as of yesterday! I work in the Winter Park Village, so I can't tell you how happy I am that it's open again. Seriously, my co-workers and I have been waiting in anticipation for awhile now to see the new digs (we love us some Publix!). Needless to say, a big group of us were at the door practically right at opening to check it out. I must say, I was quite impressed with what I saw. The biggest/best upgrade, in my opinion, is the deli...it's been completely pimped out! It's not just subs and fried chicken anymore - not that those weren't good, but I'm talking a Chinese station/hot bar, a bigger and better sushi bar, gourmet sandwiches and entree selections (think lasagna, meatloaf, pot roast, etc.), way better sides, and a gelato, pastry and coffe station (squee!). You can get an entree and two sides for $6.00, such a good deal. My lunch will never be boring again! Other notable upgrades are a big, gourmet cheese section that is conveniently located right next to the new wine section. There is now a sommelier on site, which is awesome. They also have a wine chiller...you just pop your bottle in there, finish your shopping, then come back to a perfectly chilled bottle! The way this Publix is set up now seems to make a lot more sense. All the ready to eat food areas are in the front (previously the sushi was in the back by the seafood), produce is arranged better, and all the aisles are wider (that makes a HUGE difference). Also the meat and seafood cases look great. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. And a big bonus was to see my favorite cashiers back! Before the store closed for remodeling, they weren't sure if they would get to come back to this location once it re-opened. So glad it worked out for them! read more

This review is for the Bakery Department at the Winter Park Village location. I ordered our wedding cake through Publix and was really pleased. I was concerned that the cakes may not be decorated consistently to look like the pictures online, but I was wrong! We chose the "Our First Dance" cake and one of my close friends made a cake topper from my wedding flowers. The end result looked like a much more expensive cake that rivaled many of the cakes I saw at bridal shows that were much more expensive. (I have uploaded a picture of the finished product.) Other local bakeries wanted to charge from $4-$7 per slice of cake and I just couldn't fathom spending that much so I decided to go with Publix; who was less than $2.50 per slice. You have the ability to choose the size, types of cake, and filling for each layer. We went with a vanilla cake with buttercream icing and alternating fillings of raspberry and vanilla custard - delicious! Keep in mind you have to order the cake at least four weeks in advance. Another great service Publix offers was the ability to deliver the cake for you for a minimal fee. The cake was beautiful, tasted fresh, was made exactly per our order, and delivered on time. I would not hesitate to use this Publix Bakery again for another special occasion. read more

This Publix upgrade is awesome! So much grocery store competition in this area and you won't be disappointed with this one! There is a lot of new sections near the deli you won't normally find at other Publix. Loving the new sushi and hot bar! Had a station where you can pack your own food such as lo mein noodles or fried rice and you can now order specialty dishes like pho, udon, ramen, gyu don, chicken teriyaki, etc. They had offered some udon samples and it was pretty tasty! Also can't forget about the sushi! They also had a section for a cafe with gelato and fancy desserts.. Like a huge gourmet donut! Haven't tried it, but looked amazing. The entree and side section is prepared foods, easily to pick out items if you are too lazy to cook for the night. Also can't forget about our Publix subs! They have a checkout available for you right after you are done ordering. Don't have to walk all the way out to the cashiers. Quick and easy! This remodel overhaul is wonderful. I stopped in to do some shopping recently for specific ingredients. I hadn't really been able to enjoy the new remodel because, to be honest, I didn't want to deal with the holiday hustle and bustle. But thankfully, it was pretty much back to normal on the weeknight I stopped by. I am LOVING the wide open space with the hot food bar and bakery set off to the side. Not to mention that there is plenty of room to mill around in the produce area. No more running into each other with your carts! The women working at the deli were very pleasant , joking with customers and making friendly talk. I was pleased that there was no line and took advantage because I know that is a rare thing. Oh yeah, don't forget to pull a ticket because they call numbers here. So no ticket, you go to the back of the deli line. My biggest praise goes to the international foods aisle. I remember back in the day when "international foods" meant El Paso products and Ramen. My how things have changed! One side of the aisle is all International products varying from Asian, Hispanic, German, British to Mediterranean. I know there are more that I am forgetting but you get my drift. I loved how clean and organized the shelves were and so thrilled I didn't have to hunt down a Publix employee to find what I needed because it was right where I expected it to be. The products are fairly pricey but I'll gladly pay the price for the convenience. I would probably skip out on the Asian products unless I'm in a pinch. I know I can get those in the Mills 50 area if needed. It is blatantly obvious that Publix is a force to be reckoned with! Came to Publix shortly after visiting Trader Joe's to get some additional items not available there. Living in FL most of my life I've been in many different Publix locations across the state. This is hands down the most fancy Publix I have ever been to. Inside there's a Starbucks, sushi bar, separate Boar's Head ordering station (similar in appearance to a Subway but obviously better tasting because Pub Subs), deli station, cheese station with attendant. This location also has the cooking school and a calendar of events/date nights. This Publix also seems to have more Grab and Go options and cooking packages (like Blue Apron) that are easy to grab right next to their butcher station. All of the employees were super friendly which I've found to be a standard of Publix. However, this is the first location I've been to where I've been offered assistance with putting items on the conveyor belt. If I lived closer I would probably opt for this grocery store over others. I had to bring the wife on another occasion so she could experience the store. Pretty jealous of Winter Park at this point; Cheesecake Factory, Trader Joe's and a pretty awesome Publix if I do say so myself! read more

Crab and Asparagus soufflé was good for two at our table, the other two had it scorched on the bottom so it tasted eggy. Filet was cooked well with roasted garlic and Gorgonzola compound butter. I never thought I would write a review of a grocery store but of all the Publix's I've been to, this is my preference of stores. It's convenient, I walk here from work during my lunches. The lunch options are fantastic, there is the usually deli area where you can find your famous pub subs but they also have a hot bar and a lunch/dinner area with a flexible meal plan (choose a protein and get two sides sort of deal). There's also a Starbucks right upfront but I will be honest and say I've had my worst Starbucks experience at this location however this review is about Publix and not the coffee shop. The produce section is the next area you come across at this location, it feels much large than all the other stores. The isles are larger, you don't have to worry about your cart being in the way of others or being shuttled along to get out of the way. Near the end of the produce section is a cheese cooler with a cheese connoisseur right there! Honestly, this has saved me many a time when I am needing a cheese for a party. Next to the cheese area was the wine; perfect placement for figuring out your pairing! Probably the coolest part about this store is the cooking school. I've walked by it a ton and day dreamed about my SO and I taking a class but unfortunately we haven't been able to find time just yet. Looking through the window the room is massive and has a great looking kitchen. We take the pamphlets just outside the door often and look forward to taking advantage of the neat little perk. Cleanliness: This store has set the standard for me and every other location I go to. It is very clean and is probably the busiest store I've been in. A+ here. Customer Service: All Publixs are great in regard to customer service standard but even more so here. They have a separate cashier in the front, near the deli/pub sub line that is specifically open for lunches. I've used this many times and it's a life saver. Everyone I've talked to has been super helpful and happy. Parking: Atrocious. This is not the store's fault but it is a reality. As a native Floridan, I have seen a Publix or two. I even remember when they had tiny carts for tiny children - that was the highlight of my week as a 5 year old! Well, as some locals know, this building used to be an Alberston's. Then Publix came in, purchased it and gutted the entire thing. I remember thinking - wow this is going to be a LARGE publix, bigger than most. Turns out, I was right! This stand out Publix was the first of its kind in our area. Not only did it have a floral department/event planning service area, there was a hot food bar (Chinese food and sushi included), an extensive artisan cheese section with daily tastings, and more. More recently, they have closed their gelato station and replaced it with a Starbucks - that's right, a Starbucks!! One of the first Publix in the state to have one. Aren't we so lucky! If you aren't a Publix geek like me who enjoys simply being in a Publix (I try to visit as many as I can to see the style differences. Tip- if you want to see and old style/original Publix layout - sans the small carts, go to the one on Orange Blossom Trail near the intersection of Sand Lake. It's a time warp!) then your bound to keep coming back because of their service. I could write an infinitely long review giving examples and explaining the impeccable service you get at a Publix store, but instead, I encourage to go out there and experience it yourself! read more

A Publix, is a Publix, is a Publix. Only not, when it's one of those special Publix, like this one. Super Publix isn't close. "Make You Feel Special" Publix? Straight in front of the entrance is the sandwich and deli meat counter. From an efficiency standpoint, this is genius. And just to the right of this is the specialty bakery (pizzas and desserts), hot soups, Chinese hot bar, Sushi counter, and Super Special: bento noodle bowls. I tried a sample and almost regretted getting a sub. Almost, the subs are still ridiculous. There is also the hot deli, in case you don't want to cook dinner tonight. I've learned to never hesitate to order the potato wedges. The staff here is great. Speaking of staff, right past this is the best service for the bakery I have ever experienced. Every single time I've even walked past this section, I've had a member of the bakery staff ask if I have any questions. And of course you have questions, because they have artisinal breads you don't know the first thing about. What about the seasonal cookies, worth spending a bit more on? And they all know their stuff, always helpful. I know Publix as a standard have good service, but I feel now as an adult leaving away with some fresh sliced bread I've never heard of as I did when I was a kid getting the free cookie. Which of course they have them. You want to know what kills me every time I come to this Publix? That I'm staying with vegetarians. Because the fish and butcher sections I just want to crawl over all the cheap fish and meat. Ribeye was on sale this week, now at half the price it is in California. Okay, the Giant Lobster Tails weren't on the cheap end, but look at how monstrous those things are, and right before Valentine's Day dinner. Finally you make your way to the checkout, where the cashiers are always positive, and you always get the offer to take the cart to your car. Don't forget the remote if you parked across the street at the liquor store. read more

This is the nicest Publix I've ever been to. Take everything that is nice about any Publix and then bump it up a notch. There is even a dedicated space for cooking classes in the back. read more
