I've dined at this restaurant twice. Once for a work function and recently went again for dinner…read morewith my family. Oddly enough, I ordered the same dish and it's as if I had ordered two completely different things. The dish in question is the Branzino with Risotto, which I found to be perfectly cooked and served over their signature champagne risotto the first time around. I absolutely loved it and made it a point to come back with the family, so it's unfortunate that the experience wasn't the same this last time around. We ordered the croquetas, salmon sashimi, gnocchi, pear ravioli, the Branzino, and their version of tiramisu for dessert. The food wasn't bad but nothing was wow either, and for $200 it's hard to give more than an average rating when I could've gotten a much better meal for that price. The croquetas are good, but I feel like they're missing ham. It's an interesting flavor but not something I'd go out of my way for. The sashimi appetizer isn't actually sashimi and is over sauced. It's also a tiny portion with about six slices of fish. The Branzino entree tasted fine, but was also drowned in sauce where the first time I had it there was barely any sauce and the fish had a nice crust. I was raving about it to the wife prior to going, so when they served it I was immediately embarrassed. lol. The pear ravioli had good flavor, but could benefit from some figs or a crunch component. It would also be nice to get more than 5 ravioli. As for the gnocchi, it was actually very well prepared but needed a salty contrast. The description read prosciutto in the end otherwise I would've vetoed my son since he had never tried gnocchi, but it was a tiny bit of powder and not pieces of it like I expected. $28 is grossly overpriced for potato balls in cheese. Lastly we had their house tiramisu which had blueberry sauce for some reason. That seems to be a theme from what I saw is they look to throw odd flavors together without thought as to how they pair. Guava is a common theme on many dishes and they have some random looking dishes like the sashimi and a chicken teriyaki over risotto... Honestly, it's a very solid 3 but not somewhere I'd return unless invited. The service was excellent though! No complaints there. Honestly I would've given more than the 18% automatically applied despite the grossly inflated prices so I'm not sure why it's included for a party of 3.

Spicy tuna roll looked and tasted like beat up tuna and the hamachi was drenched in soy sauce before getting plated on top of soy sauce and oil at the bottom. Why?! Waste of good fish or covering up bad fish taste? The only sushi roll that didn't have imitation crab or tempura shrimp was the Seattle amigo roll, but it was drenched in sweet sauce. 0/10 would not recommend anything we ordered if you enjoy good sushi...

For happy hour, I've had the rainbow poke ($7), and the buy 2 get 1 skewers, and the ebi croquette ($11). All were good but not that filling. I would say in terms of deals, you get more bang for your buck with the lunch specials. For lunch, I shared the mai premium lunch ($28) and the udon soup ($16). The premium lunch came with miso soup and 9 small dishes in a beautiful bento box. Definitely aesthetically pleasing and I liked the variety. The udon soup was also great with chewy udon noodles, sweet savory soup, and tempura shrimp/veggies. Service was attentive and nice. Parking available via street parking or you can pay in nearby parking garages. I wouldn't bring a big party based on the limited seating arrangements inside. All in all good food. I would consider coming back for their lunch specials.

This is the true definition of what a bistro is supposed to feel like. Unpretentious and welcoming…read morewith no frills. Small, cozy, simple and casual. The menu is concise, to the point and mainly focused on traditional and/or comfort food in this case Italian. I can't believe I had it saved for so many years but today I got to experience some of the best food I've had in the city with the most remarkable service ever. This is a family owned restaurant and as a customer I felt as family too. Beto, the owner, makes you feel like part of his extended family from the moment you step foot in the joint and all throughout your culinary adventure. I hadn't made reservations and he made sure to find me a table for one even though it was super busy at the time. He also recommended a few dishes but ultimately convinced me to try one of the chef's specials which I've been talking about till this day. His staff is also very attentive and diligent. Having said that let me break down what I ate with a nice chilled glass of wine: Antipasto: Burratina...Fresh homemade burrata mozzarella on top of thin slices of prosciutto, basil and extra-virgin olive oil. Served with roasted red peppers and tomatoes. All fresh and with high quality ingredients without a doubt. I wanted something light before the pasta and this was very filling so I couldn't finish it but... Entre: Chef's special...Pappardelle Patagonia. Green flat homemade noodle with vodka sauce, Italian sausage, pancetta, mushrooms and fresh herbs. This was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked "al dente" with a creamy vodka sauce that'd have you wanting to lick the damn plate. That Italian sausage was also so divine and they don't skimp on portions or ingredients. I'm glad Beto suggested this one instead of the Pappardelle Italian sausage. Dolci: cheesecake. I have no idea how I still had a little bit of room for dessert after that feast but this cheesecake was all worth it. Not overly sweet and very rich and velvety. This is arguably one of the best Italian joints in town. Just delicious Italian comfort food made with love and excellent service to got with it. Beto offered an espresso to end this extraordinary meal. He takes the time to go to every table and make sure customers are taken care of and that's what makes the difference. These are the type of restaurants that leave a lasting impression on their patrons and make them come back time after time.

While they did offer other options, I opted for the full sushi experience - crispy rice to start and their sushi course for my entree. I went with a friend and we each got a different dessert to try - the matcha rice crispy and the hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. Everything was delicious. I love that you got to pick your roll and two hand rolls from the menu yourself, rather than the entire menu be pre-selected. The crispy rice were my favorite bites of the night - the salmon?! So good with the fried leeks or onions on top! Great service - and great happy hour prices for wine or sake!

Between their Spice menu and happy hour, I eventually found myself surrendering by dessert. Stellar flavors, great variety and enough to top you off. Let me highlight that instead of the typical bread rolls or chimps they have these divinely seasoned pickles that are simply addicting, maybe I had more than I should but much less filling choice than bread right?! I was flip-flopping between the Miami Spice and happy hour menus because who can honestly say no to $3 beers? I did eventually decide on their Lychee Nigori which was smooth, light and rather refreshing. Their crispy rice sampler came topped with spicy salmon, spicy tuna, spicy hamachi and spicy crab, and then came the hand rolls. I loved the little detail of serving them wrapped in a plastic sheet that you slide off from either side to preserve the crispness of the seaweed. It's a small touch that was highly appreciated on our table. Their Faroe Islands salmon and yellowfin tuna in both nigiri and hand rolls was incredibly fresh with such a clean presentation. Simplicity really does make you appreciate the flavors that much more. Between their Sushi Combo and Premium Combo, my friend and I were in sushi heaven. Naturally, as full as we felt we still managed a bite of their matcha and pistachio Rice Krispie treat and warm Liger's Cookie. That cookie was pretty amazing. My only tip would be mindful of parking. It's not the easiest to navigate without wondering if you'll come back to a warning on your car in the garage if all the paid street parking is taken but happy to say happened on our weekday evening meetup. A very good experience of superiorly fresh sushi and friendly service. I was definitely proven wrong about leaving a sushi dinner full, which is what the guys in my family would say. Sounds like a return is in sight, just so I can prove them very wrong.

Parking is great at Merrick Park because there is a covered parking garage for only $3.00 per hour close to the restaurant. We ordered the following drinks to start with 3 Tajin Margaritas - the 1st 2 were great, the last one was pure booze, which isn't bad but takes away from the nice flavor of the drink. 5 Seagrill Mojitos, first two were good, the last ones were very watered down and not sweet. And a Blue Mimosa, made by combining Blue Curaçao with dry Prosecco. It was pretty terrible. Bread basket with bruschetta, garlic butter, regular butter & olive oil - DELICIOUS! Bread was pillowy soft yet still warm and toasted. The Fried Zucchini & Eggplant was ONLY Zucchini. These were supposed to be thinly sliced & served crispy but arrived at our table soggy, limp, and soft. Which means they were left out waiting for us. We ordered the following for our mains: * The lentil soup to try it. It was very nice. * Pennette Villagio with chicken added. Penne pasta with fresh spinach, sun dried tomatoes and parmesan cheese. The menu said the item came with pine nuts, but it didn't have any. The taste was good, I just wish this pasta had more sauce and pine nuts sprinkled on top. * Spaghetti Carbonara Spaghetti chopped pancetta, egg yolk, parmesan and cream. Left much to be desired. Dry dish with little to no ingredients. * Linguine Nettuno Flat thin pasta served with an array of seafood and tomato. This was probably the best dish. Had lots of fish and seafood, as described. For dessert we ordered the following: Crème brûlée - was very good! And the Galaktoburekto, which left a little to be desired. I've tried this desert in Greece & several Greek restaurants, this one is by far the driest & toughest one to eat. Overall, this restaurant is absolutely breathtaking & the menu has lots of options. However, the food & drinks weren't great. I'm not sure if I would give them another chance, since we came on a Sunday and this was obviously too much for them to handle.

To top it all off, their gelato is the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The only thing I miss is their coffee menu.
