Solid pizza! I don't think I've ever had pizza that is truly "bad." Most pizza is passable in my opinion. I thought this was good pizza and would maybe get it again for a party/catering. I personally don't love crispy things, so I liked how the bottom of the pizza wasn't crispy (though they did have an option for a crispier bottom). It's sad to see the Pudgie's name and logo still around, because the taste, the food, and the recipes are nothing like they were in the 80s and 90s. First of all, I think it's incredible that a restaurant like this has been in business for 50 years or more. I used to get lunch here frequently back in the mid 70s. My favorite was their cheesesteak sub. 30 years ago I moved to Philadelphia and had to try a genuine Philly cheesesteak because everyone was raving about them. Big disappointment. So now I'm back spending Christmas with family, and, to my amazement, Pudgie's is still here, and their cheesesteak is as good as I remember! read more

Ordered a pizza last night and arrived early to pick it up. I just sat down when I arrived and heard the employee named "Chris" in the back making fun of my last name. I guess he didn't realize I was there early. Needless to say I just grabbed my pizza and left which wasn't great in the least. Your standard pizza that I could compare to any other run down pizza joint. Just another cruddy pizza joint with employees who had bad business ethics I guess. The standard for pizza in upstate New York is not particularly high. And yet, this pizza is still absolutely awful. The pizza is utterly soggy, the bread tastes awful and the cheese and sauce do not help. Came up here with a friend who was nostalgic about Pudgies. He had fond memories of consuming wings and pizza from Pudgies as a kid. We ordered the family pack which was a huge sheet pizza plus 20 wings in spicy gravy and drinks for $32. We added 3 toppings which added another $11 or so. Verdict? Wings were deliciously buttery but not too greasy. We got the mediums which were almost mild to me. The pizza was edibly good but not memorably great. The strong point was definitely the wings. The dining area was small at this location but had little puzzles like Cracker Barrel to keep you busy while waiting for your pizza to cook. The staff was very friendly and no complaints here. They also have a drive thru here which makes on-the-go pick up easy. I enjoyed the food and while I wouldn't go way out of the way to come here, I certainly would return. read more

I don't really write bad reviews, as I like to keep things positive and give people the benefit of the doubt, but when I have been to a facility more than once and have had multiple bad experiences I need to share it. I am utterly dissapointed in this shop. I have loved pudgies pizza since I was a kid. The flavor of the pizza, and the amount of cheese and the texture is outta this world and what I loved about this company. I have been to many locations, Newark, canandaigua, rochester, and never had any issues. Loved the service and the food. This location in Ithaca is a disgrace to Pudgies and should be shut down. I have been there more than once for a slice, cheesy breadsticks and a party sheet pizza. All 3 times I have went it was a bad experience. The first time I went for a slice it wasn't that hot even after they heated it up, the second time I went to order cheesy breadsticks ( which they have at EVERY location) and they said they don't make them there. So they opted to put cheese on top of the garlic breadsticks, to which I ate and was very disappointed. The last time I went I ordered a sheet pizza an hour ahead of time for my daughters birthday, the woman who took my order was very rude and when I picked up the pizza she completely ignored my presence when I arrived. The pizza had barely any cheese on it! And it was half cheese half pepperoni. I literally had to buy cheese from the store to put on it. All in all the customer service is bad, the products are whack, and it's a shady looking building with no where to park but in the back temporarily and always empty from what I see. My advice, don't go here because you most certainly won't be getting the pudgies you know and love from this joint. read more

When I was a college sophomore, absolutely nothing compared to Pudgie's 32-slice sheet pizza and I-forget-how-many buffalo wings delivered to my friend's dorm as we geeked out to NHL '95's full season mode. Everyone has different taste in pizza, so this review isn't about the quality of the food. This is about the service. And, when there are about 2 dozen other pizza joints in Ithaca with similar or better pizza, you better have the best service around. We ordered a couple of sheet pizzas 5 full days before our daughter's birthday party at a local park. Pudgie's staff assured us the pizzas would be there and we made sure they understood where in the park we would be located. They were supposed to deliver at 11 a.m. to a pavilion that we had rented through noon. About 10 minutes after 11 a.m. there was still no sign of a delivery person. We called and the person on the phone seemed oblivious to our order and wasn't very concerned about our predicament. That predicament, by the way, was about 30 people waiting to eat lunch at a 3 year-old's birthday party. They said they could "probably" have our order delivered with about 15 minutes for us all to eat it. We told them to cancel the order and hung up. The ineptitude of your staff screwed up our ENTIRE party and left our daughter and our guests without any lunch. Of course, we'll never return to Pudgies for anything. And we'll tell everyone we know not to patronize this restaurant. But anyone reading this - please choose another pizza place. These guys have tons of crappy reviews and most are about their service. It's clear they don't intend to improve their service, so the only way to force change is to stop giving them money. read more

The orange roof may confuse you, but you would be missing out on this upstate institution that makes consistently good pizza and wings. They make a medium dough pie that is light and never greasy. Known for using quality ingredients and good value for your dollar. A great time saver and feature is their drive-up, especially in the cold weather. I grew up on Pudgies pizza and I love it! A sheet pizza is standard. Thick crust, light on sauce, just enough cheese. Never had anything like it anywhere else and I travel extensively. If you're a picky foodie this isn't for you. It's just good pizza for a rowdy crowd or party or large gathering. It's not gourmet brick oven pizza. You have to try it and expect something fun and different with beer and soda and wings and 5-10 people! read more

Only thing i have had here so fall is the meatball sub, but judging by it i would have to believe the rest of the menu would be just as good. They bake there bread fresh daily here, and the meatballs had some kick to them, some places i have been to the meatball sub is just ground beef balls with Ragu on top.I look forward to trying the pizza here. read more
