Franco's is a gem that is truly unexpected. Each piece we ordered (and we got 4) was absolutely stunningly perfect. The onion pie was sweet from the onion, tangy from the sauce, cheesy, and crisp. The margherita was so fresh while also being perfect in execution. The Pepperoni was just really good quality pepperoni and very tasty. The scilian was so light and fluffy while being heavier than the others. It was too hot in the spot, I wish that wasn't the case. But service was prompt and felt like a bunch of Ithaca kids...the drinks were very good with glass bottle pellegrino and fun italian sodas. We'll be back - one of the best slices of pizza in Ithaca. read more

Great spot for pizza and cannoli in Ithaca! The cannolis are generously filled (no hollow interiors here) and not too sweet. These were honestly the perfect cannolis in my opinion- not too lemony, not too much chocolate, but still sweet enough. The garlic knots were really good and a really great deal! Cool place we decided to try for some pizza. Place was busy but we got ordered right away and sat down. Garlic knots got brought out quickly and the pizza was maybe 20 minutes behind. Garlic knots were awesome! Pizza was super good and we got a large so it'll be another meal with how big it was. Nice lofted space with high ceilings and the pizza opens prominently displayed smack dab in the middle. Great selection of Neapolitan and Sicilian slices. Italian sodas and desserts. We tried an assortment some garlic knots. Everything with delicious. The Sicilian was particularly airy yet crisp. Pretty good. A quick search of pizza places in Ithaca, NY identified Franco's Pizzeria as the place to try out in town if you're looking for some traditional New York style pizza. This pizzeria has a nice open layout with plenty of indoor seating and several parking spaces out front. They have a decent selection of slices on offer if you're not looking to purchase a whole pizza. They had a steady flow of customers, so clearly have a loyal following among Ithaca locals. We were going to order a traditional large cheese pizza, but several reviews I saw online mentioned their Sicilian slices, so we also ordered both the standard cheese and garlic Sicilian slices, and an order of garlic knots. The counter service was really friendly and one of the employees was kind enough to provide some extra paper plates and napkins with our food. The standard cheese pizza was firm and crispy with the dough cooked to perfection. However, I felt the sauce and cheese both lacked that special zest and flavor that I am more familiar with in NY and NJ pizzerias. It wasn't bad, but just merely average in comparison to great tasting sauce and cheese I'm spoiled with closer to home. They don't skimp on cheese as there's a nice layer of cheese on each slice. While both the standard cheese and garlic Sicilian slices were crunchy and airy with a nice crust, they similarly weren't up to par with regards to cheese quality.. The garlic Sicilian slice was unique and tasty, but was more of a crunchy cheesy garlic bread. The garlic knots were solid and on par with the taste you'd find at decent NY/NJ pizzerias. While I think Franco's Pizzeria would get lost in the sea of great NYC or NJ pizza, it's probably the best New York style pizza you're going to find in Ithaca, so I'd recommend a visit to see for yourself if you're in town and craving pizza. read more

My partner and I have been loyal Franco's customers for many years. We usually grab slices or a pie to go. Last night, we had a non-stellar experience around 7:30-8pm. There were just 2 other diners, and staff were mostly standing around talking to each other. My partner asked for our toddler's slice to be warmed up "10-20 seconds, it's for a baby" when we received the slice *a few minutes later* it was so hot I burned the roof of my mouth when testing it for her. FIVE MINUTES LATER we received our personal slices which had been left in the oven so long the crust was burnt to a crisp. When I said "excuse me, this is burnt" to the counter person, they looked at me with a blank stare and then proceeded to walk away. As a former server, maitre d, and FOH manager, I know this is not how you appropriately handle a situation in which a guest is upset before even touching their food. There was no offer to replace the (literally black crusted) pizza, no "sorry" no ... anything. Instead, a blank stare as they went back behind the counter to continue their conversation with the pizza cook. The pizza is still great, but if this is what Franco's thinks qualifies as half-way decent customer service - they have some issues that need correcting. I don't know if we'll be back; maybe we will just continue taking to go instead of trying to enjoy a meal on-site. read more

Solid pizza but quality can be a hit or miss. When it's a hit, boy does this place deliver but sometimes the bread can feel too thick and strays too far from what a NY slice should be. Garlic knots are great but the marinara is the main star of the show. Place has slices to go which they reheat as needed. Calzone looked like gods gift to this world but haven't personally tried it. The Sicilian slices had a light, fluffy crust except for the crunchy crispy outer layer which is absolutely delicious and buttery. Franco's just moved. They are now located in the old Cornell Laundromat on State street. They also are selling slices. I got a slice and sat down. Old 70's rock music played in the background. Nothing is ever perfect, but I think their pizza lunch display is pretty good and worth dropping by. They had 10 plus different pizzas of good variety to try (reg and Sicilian crusts), and I liked the salads I got as well. If you are going to order a whole pizza, make sure to order well ahead of time, they can take a while to cook, but a large is a large for sure, so no need to over order. read more

We found Franco during our vacation at Ithaca. Really good and fresh food, friendly service and chill place. This place was parents approved, we got large pizza with mushroom, olives, peppers and onions. It came out piping hot and bread quality was amazing. Ordered ahead arrived on time counterman asked my name..he responded 5 minutes. I waited 5 more minutes, a different counterman said 5 minutes. 104 degrees in the car. 5 minutes later the counter girl asked me what name was on the order. The pizzas were sitting on the oven the whole time. The menu is limited, the price was high $50 for 2 mediocre large pizza, 3% credit card fee. And the employees were unapologetic idiots. I was craving a calzone the other night... a craving that hit after I heard that DP Dough downtown was closing. I've heard about the pizza at Franco's (though have never had it), but discovered they had calzones too. Hoping to not have to drive all the way to Calios, I ordered from Franco's instead. I arrived at the restaurant just as my iPhone alarm went off - signaling the amount of time they said it would take for my order to be ready has passed. I grabbed a drink upon stepping into Franco's and mentioned to the woman tending the counter that I was there for my takeout order. My order for a sausage/mushroom/feta calzone + small bottle of grape soda came to $14.90 after the 15% tip (I don't generally give more than that if I'm picking up an order... but will happily give more for delivery or sit down service). While walking back to my car, I notice the underneath of my takeout paper bag is wet. I get back to the car, take out the calzone (sitting on very flimsy paper plates), and liquid is seeping out onto the plates and through the bag... also turning the more well cooked outside of my calzone into a somewhat mushy consistency. Not a fan. I found some extra napkins in my glove box and transferred the calzone so as to minimize the possibility of more juices making my calzone more mushy. As for flavor, the calzone was good... but not the best I've ever had. The ricotta seemed to be made fresh (less salty than store bought), which was a bonus. That said, there wasn't anything memorable about the calzone. People rave about this place, so I suppose I just expected something a little special? This experience didn't have it. TL;DR Not yet convinced this place is somewhere to make a fuss about. read more

When you have the opportunity to choose any meal that you might want for your birthday I picked pizza and I love Francos the best. It doesn't get any better than their large cheese pizza topped with spinach, chunky bell peppers, thin sliced red onion and mushrooms piled on one of their incredibly thin style slices. A large pizza was more than enough for the four of us but since my children were here for the celebration I couldn't resist adding in an order of garlic knots.
