The food at puerta del mal was ok in my opinion. I ordered the churrasco with octopus with mofongo and salad. The mofongo was good. Can't complain about it. The. Churrasco was tender and flavorful. The octopus wasn't bad but it was a bit mushy. I was expecting more of a grilled fresh catch kind of octopus. But I feel it might of been from a can. I could be wrong but thats what I got from it. I had a coco mojito that was descent. This would be my second one so far that I have tried on the island. It had a bit more lime taste to it. Not complaining at all cause I actually like lime but my first mojito was more on the coco side. As for the service it was ok nothing to rant about. They have alot of seating both in and outside the restaurant. We sat outside to enjoy the weather more. I would come back and try something else in the future and see what else I like.
Tasty food. Almost all fried. 3.5 stars really - can't rate a place like this 4 or 5. It's fast, easy food. Loud (really) atmosphere at 7:45p on a Friday night. Fun to hear all the laughter and levity. Had the pollo kebabs, cod fritter, shrimp tacos, beef taco, beef empanadas, and beef alcapurrias. Service was non existent. Order and carry to your table. However, the cashier spoke basically no English. We survived and so will you!
I am so surprised I had not given this place a chance before these recent visits. I did not know what I was missing out on. Great customer service, attentive staff, quick delivery of food and amazing flavor to all we had. The seafood, was all so tender and well cooked. The plantains both in mofongo and tostones were made to perfection, and the best of all? The bartender spotted us on a second visit and immediately remembered what we drink, even when it was a month apart. That is the kind of service that we pay for and I am now recommending this place to all my friends right in front of the beautiful ocean and with ample parking.
I stop here every time I'm in town which is often. The pinchos are always fresh and amazing. The pastellios are amazing as well as the alcapurrias and bacalaitos. Their food is delicious as well and they're open really late most nights. The beers are cold and the drinks are flowing. I love the vibes and all of the beautiful people who I get to vibe amongst. The snapper and mofongo is a must also! The lobster is chunky as well.
Puerta Del Mar is a local restaurant and grill on the beach featuring traditional Puerto Rican beachgoing grilled and fried foods and more traditional options in the restaurant. My wife and I got there around noon but they were just firing up the grill. So we order a few fried options first: Bolitas de Queso, Arepas de Coco, Alcapurria with Crab, and an Empanada de Pizza. They were all delicious! The Bolitas de Queso were lightly crip and airy with super gooey cheese inside. The Arepas de Coco were soft and freshly baked with a hint of coconut sweetness. The Alcapurria with Crab was crisp on the outside, savory, smoky and filled with tender shredded briny crab in flavorful seasoning. The Empanada de Pizza had a soft doughy shell filled with a nice tomato and cheesy mixture inside. Once the first round of Pinchos were cooked we also had my favorite option here: Pinchos de Pollo. The chicken skewers were large, super tender, smokey and lightly marinated in a sweet bbq sauce. Overall, Puerta del Mar is a must visit.
Hands down the best food in Piñones. We've been here multiple times. The service and ambiance is unbelievable! If you want an authentic taste of PR this is the spot to be. From the best alcapurria to fresh cocos, drinks from the bar, and food is great. The pionono and pinchos were both the bomb!! Can't beat the ocean view here either!
Very delicious Was a little lost at first there are a few food places in the area but settled on this area !!!!!! Rhe chicken on the sticks was FIREEEEE legit amazing Ordered oysters and Pina colada's the oysters were ok.... I'm from Vegas so I've had better and traveled Burt the chicken was the best I would def go just for that
This restaurant has great food! Drinks are delicious and refreshing. Shrimp pasta was amazing and had 8 Huge shrimp in it. The red snapper was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by the Server! He literally made our dining experience terrible. It was my husband's birthday so he got to choose where he wanted to go. We live here so we really wanted to try a different place to go. This server could not have cared less about taking our order, never checked in with us about our food. I told him that it was my husband's birthday and he never even acknowledged it. I saw that there was cheesecake on the menu and I wanted to order it as his birthday cake. He just said no cheesecake, I mentioned that it was on the menu and he just said " no".? I was a waitress for many years and this man had no idea how to make your dining experience horrible. Another table with 5 girls arrived and that was the end of his attention to us even less! Again, the food is great, nice vibe but the service was awful!

Came here after hitting up the nearby beach in Piñones and had a great meal. The seafood was fresh and the portions were good. the atmosphere feels local (vs touristy). The fried snapper fish was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. I tried their churrasco and trifongo (mofongo de plátano verde, plátano maduro, and yuca combined) It can get lively with a crowd and music, depending on the time of day, but that's part of the Piñones experience. One thing to keep in mind is that the beach access nearby isn't directly connected to the restaurant area, so if you're planning to visit both, having transportation makes things much easier. If you're walking, be prepared for a longer trek than you might expect. Overall, this spot is worth a stop. read more
This spot def has a nice vibe w/ salsa playing on the speakers,cool decor, & plenty of photo ops(which makes it a fun place to take pics & enjoy the atmosphere/music). It has a lot of visual appeal & feels like somewhere you'd want to sit,vibe,& linger for a bit. There's outside sitting which was refreshing b/c you feel the cool PR breeze from the nearby beach. The service, however, could have been more attentive. The waiter was a bit hard to catch @ times which took away from the overall experience. I literally had to try to get his attention multiple times which was frustrating. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. I ordered the snapper, & while it had potential (b/c the flavor was def there)it was fried a bit too much & came out on the dry side. I also got a dried out lime so that didn't help to add juice to the fish.The white rice & beans were actually the highlight of the meal(well-seasoned & really enjoyable). I also tried the cod fish fritter (bacalaito), but it was overly greasy & didn't really have much cod fish in it, which was disappointing. Overall, the atmosphere is gr8 & worth checking out for the ambiance and photos, but the food & service could use some improvement. read more
Review #1,043 Posted on 4.26.26 We stopped here after arriving & getting settled at our room/spot on Wednesday the 22nd. We had seen this spot online a lot & were looking forward to the fried stuff. So when we came, the line wasn't too long, but they were out of bacalaitos which was the main item I wanted to try. They went to make them fresh, which we were looking forward too, it took a bit, but Buddy finally went to the back to fry some fresh ones up. I've got to admit, I was disappointed on how the actual bacalaito delivered. It felt like all bread, I couldn't taste the fish. If the fish was in here, it was one of the more chincier portions I've ever got. Now what saved the day & also blew me away was the Alcapurria de carne. This little thing was on hit, I should've ordered 2. It's like fried plantain, with ground beef inside, the plantain even though fried was extremely soft. I'd come back & eat here 100%, a must when visiting the PR. read more

Amazing place for Mofongo with Garlic Shrimp or pork or chicken chunks! Alcapurrias, and chicken pinchos to die for! There is a balcony with views of the ocean in Piñones!! Great Service and of course ice cold Medallas!! read more

Good chicken skewers .. denitely recommend this place opens at 12. People already lined up .. close to access to the beach .. soak and eat also have fresh coconut.. good service this is a must try off the beaten path though. read more

The food was okay. One of three of our alcapirrias had a lot of mass chunks. There was no service when we went. You just head over to the counter and order the food. The location had a lot of empty tables that needed cleaning. However, some local birds called "changos" were taking care of the cleaning. The location is close to the beach, and it gives it a classic "chincorro" vibe. read more

First time trying this place in Pinones Puerto Rico - it is ALWAYS crowded in this area and extremely busy. Came here before coming back home and so glad I did because I had one of the best mofongos I've ever had. It wasn't super fried, wasn't greasy, and it was flavored extremely well! I didn't need to order any sauce for it, the mofongo alone had garlic taste and that was all I needed. It wasn't dry AT ALL. I had this accompanied with the bistec encebollado - the steak was seasoned very well although it could've been slow cooked a little bit more just so it could be a little softer. This chillo frito pictured is the medium size. Delicious. Really, can not go wrong with ordering this especially here. Rice and beans were also very good. Will definitely be back the next time we visit read more

Service was amazing, ambiance was breath taking, the food was very good. The drinks were well poured. We tried the pollo frito, steak mofongo, pork chops, tostones, sweet plantains and the margaritas. We enjoyed everything. read more

Food - 8/10 their chicken shish kebabs are amazing and definitely recommended Service - they seem like very nice people. Ambiance - it's right on the beach there is many other options available next to the store as well as a convenience store read more

Food is good, well seasoned and tasty, very slow service, I think it's because of so many ppl and hardly any staff. Be prepared for a noisy place and lots to foot and car traffic. Best time to go will be during the day, so you can walk around to the different places. read more

This spot is right by the beach. Super busy but I can see why. You walk inside and there's loud music playing, People drinking, eating and enjoying their time. I LOVED the ambiance here. Friendly service, people, Great drinks and food. read more
This is definitely where the locals come and eat! We waited in a 20 minute line to sit, then was told it would be an hour until we get our food. So prepare yourself and get a couple drinks while you wait! Our server was on point despite how busy it was. We tried the pinchos, both the pork and chicken were tasty! The bistec encebollado was a huge portion, and the trifongo it came with was awesome. read more
We saw this place at night and it was happening. We came back for lunch. The chicken on the grill is fantastic. We also had the beef empanadas. Only$10 us. We sat inside and watched fried snapper coming out. It looked delicious also. Very causal on the beach restaurant. Pina colada's we're good too. Very local area . Hard to find parking. This place is so good... I had to try a little bit of everything. Started with an arrepa de coco with a mojito... followed by an alcapurria so good! They have two different salsas...One is a mayo ketchup type mix and the other is more hot picante. I actually mixed the two and got a sweet/spicy mix. I followed that up with Mofongo with seafood/lobster/Pulpo... oh my gosh! When I say this was one of the best meals I've ever had, I'm not kidding! Nothing was chewy. Everything was cooked to perfection. And the Mofongo was on point. Followed that up with a strawberry Mojito and oh my gosh I couldn't eat anything else that night. You have to try this place out! Not only is the food amazing but it's a total vibe... Different music playing on every corner. Just a true down-home feeling... I'll be back tomorrow read more

The food here is delicious! When I travel to this area, I spend over $30 on Uber just to come to this place. I'm giving 3 stars because the service sucks. Not sure if they are racist or just rude, but I'm African American and sometimes I wait 15-20 minutes for someone to come take our order. If white or Spanish or other than blacks comes in, they would run to their table while me and my friends wait. They should just put a sign up that says colored people are not allowed, at least that's how I feel for every visit. First I thought it's because they are busy, but same treatment every time and they were not busy today. read more

Noise restaurant in front of the blue Caribbean see, smell to bbq and delicious sea food, people speaking drinking medalla beer so great ambience. The food is good and the ves service. Como and enjoy the mofongo stuffed with shrimp. read more
