In a sea of overpriced eateries this is a breath of fresh air. It is a diner with diner vibes , but with some solid eats. So good in fact that we came three times in a row. Breakfast is your old school standard with a cafe con lèche. Note that the only thing that disappointed me was the pancakes, they were dry. The standout was the dinner chicken with peppers. Stayed in Miami Beach over the weekend and ended up eating here 3 times! Once for breakfast and twice for lunch. The price was good the staff was friendly. I really enjoyed the pepper chicken and pepper beef. It definitely has a diner feel. It seemed to be a pretty popular breakfast spot but was much quieter when we came back later. This is a gem in mid-beach! Ambiance: very ordinary greasy spoon with bar seating and dated tables. Service: the ladies are quick to wave you to a table and get your order! Food came out in 5-10min and was hot and tasty. Definitely mom-n-pop vibes. Food: I felt like I was eating lunch at my friend's house. This is a good sign. Homey, good portions, great prices. The salad was plain but I preferred that with the grilled and seasoned tilapia! They have oil and vinegar at the table to dress your veggies. Located a quick hop away from the popular Mid-Beach portion of Miami Beach, Latin Cafe is a charming little diner-style eatery serving up large portions of tasty food at an affordable price! The restaurant itself is small, with about a dozen tables stocked with sauces, salt, and pepper - you can seat yourself, and then a server will come to take your order, or you can order up at the front table for quick takeout. Everyone here was so kind and friendly, and service was quite efficient - my party of four popped in at around 12:30pm on a Monday and were promptly seated. Two of my friends ordered the Pan con Bistec (Steak Sandwich, $9.99/each), which comes with a generous portion of steak (cooked to your liking, which is a nice bonus) on a roll with pickles, onions, mayonnaise, mustard, and cheese. They both cited it as one of the best sandwiches they've ever had - it was flavorful and moist without getting soggy, and at under $10, rivaled the price of most fast food chains! Another member of my party ordered their Pollo Asado (Roasted Chicken, $9.99), which comes with a grilled chicken quarter of a thigh and a leg marinated in a sweetly tart sauce. Additionally, all meat entrees come with two generous portions of sides, making this much cheaper (and in my opinion, more filling), than a place like Chipotle or Cava. My friend really enjoyed the juicy chicken with crispy skin, and the side salad and moros (mixed rice and beans) that she chose for her side were nice and filling. Lastly, I ordered the Masitas de Puerco (Fried Pork Chunks, $12.99). I didn't really know what to expect, but I was served up a generous portion of decadent, melt-in-your-mouth chunks of pork (almost like pulled pork burnt ends) with a crispy exterior. Some parts of the pork had become a little dry, but the portion was so large anyways that I just cut them off. As for my sides, I also chose the side salad (very fresh-tasting), as well as their yuca (cassava), which if you haven't had, tastes kind of like a cross between a mashed potato and a dim-sum turnip cake. It was filling and savory, pairing nicely with the fresh onions on top, but I did find that it became a bit greasy over time. All in all, we all left full for under $15/person including tip and tax, which is hard to come by in Miami Beach! Everyone enjoyed their food, service was friendly and efficient, and our wallets were left relatively unscathed - this is definitely worth a trip if you're looking for tasty, affordable eats in the area! read more

I ordered the #10 grilled pork chops with cassava and mixed beans and rice. My wife got the fried pork chunks with white rice and sweet plantain. Both dishes were so good. Absolutely wonderful! In a touristy beach area that is overpriced, Latin Cafe is a breath of fresh air. It's a simple Mom n Pop restaurant but it serves it's purpose. The most expensive item is the Churrasco Skirt Steak at $18.99, all Shrimp dishes at $14.99 for 7pcs of shrimp and the large soups are $5-6 just to give an example of the menu prices. I ordered a dish that wasn't on the menu. Camarones al Ajillo with rice & beans and Maduros (sweet plantains) for $15.99. I also ordered a Cuban Soup, 2 chicken Empanadas, a croquette and a Papa Relleno. The rice was absolutely perfect! As you can see from my pics, I wiped the plate clean! The empanada melted in your mouth. It was so good I ordered another. I could eat here every day! Is the atmosphere like Mangos? No, but I'd have this anytime without being nickel and dimed especially if on a value budget. Another great point to note is that both the Collins Express Trolley and the Middle Beach Trolley stop close by. You'll see a lot of locals dining here. Which you already get charged for an automatic tip which is fine but really? I didn't even realize until after I paid and looked at the receipt. I'm sorry.. but what? Prices were on the low side for the area. Divey and old fashioned, I was excited to try breakfast here in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Miami Beach. The place is decent in size and I got the feeling that a good deal of the seated customers were regulars. The "official" language of the diner is definitely Spanish and it was even a little difficult to place my order in English. Anyone else I saw enter and sit was speaking Spanish. I ordered two eggs over medium-hard but they came out hard. The bacon was all crumpled up and looked like it started as a fistful thrown into the deep fryer. Unraveling it, there were crispy pieces covering up barely cooked limp strips. The pancakes were most interesting. Small in diameter but thick and very "heavy". They almost seemed like they were pre-cooked and had been sitting in a warmer prior to serving. They didn't have a feel or taste of anything fresh. Staff was friendly and refilled my water when requested. No complaints there. Hoped for more but I won't be returning. read more

Little hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop place. Prices extremely reasonable. It clearly caters to the locals more than the tourists. Incredible food. Got the shrimp creole. It came with plantain chips and mixed black beans and rice. Delicious!! We got there at about 6:40 and didn't realize they closed at 7. We offered to take our food to to when it got close to closing and our waitress wouldn't hear anything about it, so we stayed and ate along with a couple other tables. Unpretentious and delicious.
