All the staff were friendly and we were seated right away. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday around 11 when they opened. The menu is huge! Plus they have a lot of unique items that you don't normally see like fries smothered in steak. I decided on the #24 combo which was a burrito, taco, and chile relleno. Their red sauce was the best I've had. It normally tastes like ketchup to me but their's was definitely more flavorful. Everything came out piping hot and was delicious.

Updating review to show an updated menu that includes some new menu items! Love this place! Food is always good and service is always so great! Pictures are of things I've had at some point here, as we come here often!

    Steak fajitas

Literally spent $50 on 2 orders of onions smh those were supposed to be steak fajitas...what they have was 99% ONIONS no tomatoes and a couple baby strands of belle peppers you can barely see...that's just ignorant why would anyone serve someone this? Best part is the manager is the one I believe who got my food ready...no I did not call and complain cause they would never fix the problem they would argue with you nail and tooth before they made anything right so I figured I'd come and warn everyone else...had to give a start to post or they wouldn't have got that

Overall a pretty good authentic style Mexican restaurant. We went on a Friday and the wait was quite long which was surprising to us. The chips and salsa are great and fresh while you wait on your meals. There seemed to be confusion when ordering but overall she did her best. I ordered a vegetarian plate with a burrito , enchilada and tostada it all tasted great. Thought it a bit odd that everything was covered in cheese tho instead of sauces like normal, especially since the enchilada was cheese inside already. She was nice enough to give me a little enchilada sauce tho for it which made it better. My date got an entree and a side tostada as well as a house marg. And enjoyed it all. We were able to pay quickly when we were finished which was nice and they had paper menus now for COVID I'm assuming but overall a good experience. Their prices are slightly above average for this style of restaurant in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Would probably return when in the mood for authentic style Mexican food again.

Inexpensive, excellent food and clean environment. The parking is ample but be careful no one pays attention.

Food was bad. Order beef chimichanga and asked for asada beef. Didn't taste nothing like it. Tasted spoiled.

They did a great job. Only four stars bc the refried beans are made with white beans which was very unexpected and their salsa is verde (made with tomatillos?) instead of the traditional red tomato one. They should give you an option. Granted I didn't ask bc I wanted to see what the "standard" things are. Their chips are fresh and tastes like they make them in house. You have a choice of corn or flour tortillas with your meal. Plenty of cheese drip is included in almost every dish so if you prefer more traditional dishes (wout all the cheese) let them know. They took it out for us. We only had the chicken loko dish but that was good. Easy parking too. Solid 4

Ambiance: This place is super cute. It's admittedly a small place next to a vape shop in a dinky…read morestrip mall but they've decorated very well inside and done what they could. It's clearly a family run business with the daughters helping out front and a mom in the kitchen. The place is freshly painted, there are comfy padded booths, tasteful decorations, and unobtrusive latin reggaeton playing in the background. Service was very friendly and food could take slightly on the longer side but that's because everything is made to order. The moment we put our order in we could hear the kitchen (which was one lady) throwing stuff on the cooktop and working hard the whole time. Food: They served some complimentary chips and salsa which were very good. The chips are actually fresh fried still with the glistening oil on them. Likewise, we got a bunch of tacos and the tortilla shells were fresh fried and crispy which was amazing. Quesa birria - The birria has a very deep rich flavor almost like cabeza meat, it might be from the bone/marrow used in the stock but it has a almost game-y flavor I hadn't had before. The dipping broth was excellent and they serve it with sliced cucumber, radishes, grilled jalapeños and caramelized onions which was such an amazing touch. If you're not opposed to bold flavors I would recommend this. 4.5/5 Barbacoa taco - Not a saucy Barbacoa like Chipotle but equally as flavorful and tender. This will always be a safe bet if you just want a beefy taco that pairs great with their salsas. 4/5 Al pastor torta - My wife likes tortas more than me but I will say the Al pastor is great. They do not skimp on the caramelized pineapple chunks and the pork has a nice coating of that smoky savory achiote seasoning. The torta itself is balanced in terms of the lettuce, beans, and tomato. The bread tastes home made with a slightly chewy texture. 4.5/5 Horchata - It's creamy and rich but not too sweet and generally mild on the cinnamon, all around enjoyable. They give you a giant mason jar of it too which is like 900 ml! 4.5/5 Special mention to the salsas which are just plain great. The hot salsa is like a roasted jalapeño salsa with a smokey kick from either pasilla or guajillo chiles. The green salsa is just perfectly balanced with a gentle savory and tangy flavor that enhances whatever you put in on. Overall I seriously enjoyed Fridas. It is not fancy or innovative but if you're looking for a family-run hole-in-the-wall business serving authentic and filling food, I would strongly recommend giving this place a try. Just for reference, we got two entrees, an horchata, and a la carte taco for $40 (pre-tip) and were stuffed for the rest of the day.

We got Cemita made of…read moreCabeza (cow brain meat), the bread was a mixture of crunchy and soft on the inside, the meat was very tender and juicy. The avocados used were very fresh, the ratio of meat and cheese was perfect, and the chipotle peppers brought it together so nicely. Their fries are perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The carne asada tacos were a little dry, however, I think it was mostly the tortillas that were dry, the meat was very well seasoned. I do wish they came with more onion, cucumber, radishes, and like wedges. Now, for the real star of the show, the salsas!!!! Wowww!!!!! They do not play around! The spiciest one is the green one with avocado chunks is incredible, the smooth green salsa is the second spiciest and lastly the chipotle red is the least spiciest. Truly incredible salsas!!! I was a bit disappointed in the Esquite, it was $10, and they didn't even fill the cup to the top, it was filled about 3/4ths of the way. For $10, I felt like it should've been up all the way with more mayo and spicy seasoning. I love how big and open the restaurant is, there is a half wall and seating on the other side, I appreciated that it was quieter and more relaxed. Overall, their food was pretty good, I am looking forward to going back and trying more of their menu.

My Go-To Birria Taco spot on the Southside!…read more Red Tacos is right off Madison and Stop 10 in a little strip mall. You walk in and order from the counter. They have a large menu behind the counter and lots of bottled drink options. No fountain drinks. You take a seat and they call your number when the food is ready. Everything is made fresh to order. One thing that stands out is how FRESH all of the ingredients are. They usually have an area with fresh radishes, cucumbers, salsas, and peppers but they didn't have that out this time. That might've been because I came towards the end of the day. But they did come on the side of my meal. They rented out the space next to them which opens into a whole other room with seating. But you can also find the sweets and fresh ice cream in here! The staff is always so kind and welcoming. If you're looking for a great birria spot, try out Red Tacos!
