This place is fantastic! Dr. Stivers and his whole staff are so insanely friendly and had a great sense of humor and it really helped put me at ease. I'd been dragging my feet on getting my wisdom teeth extracted for about 8 yrs. Had to have an emergency extraction on one of them because the cavity was so bad it broke in half. Chris at the front desk was amazing and spent hours talking to my insurance to work miracles when I was struggling to find help just before Thanksgiving. For reasons, I had to be awake for the extraction and was pretty nervous, but everyone was so nice and like many Google reviews say: He has very gentle hands! I was expecting aggressive yanking and to hear horrific sounds, but had none of that. His approach is very gentle and gradual. He and his assistant talked me through everything and before I knew it he said "All done!". My response was literally "Wait that's it??" 2 days out and haven't had any pain at all, just some swelling. I strongly recommend reading the reviews before going to Puget Sound Oral Surgery. I needed to have a severely painful tooth removed, so I called this clinic to make an appointment. I explained the situation, said I needed the tooth extracted, and asked about the cost. The receptionist told me it would be $350, which I assumed was the cost for the procedure. When I arrived, they took my blood pressure, asked a ton of questions, said I needed to have blood tests done, and then told me to pay for the services. The total came to $1,015. I decided to refuse their services, but they still asked me to pay $229 for the consultation. After some lengthy discussions, they offered to skip the blood tests, which would lower the cost of the service. It turns out that the blood test wasn't mandatory, so I could have saved money from the start, but they didn't inform me about this. They even reduced the consultation fee. After all this, it turned out they wouldn't extract my tooth that day and scheduled me for two weeks later. No one had warned me about this, and if I had known, I would have chosen another dentist who could have removed the tooth the same day. In the end, I wasted an entire workday, paid for a consultation I didn't need, and now I have to find another dentist. They should have warned me in advance that the appointment was only for a consultation and that it would cost money. I would have chosen a competent and straightforward dentist instead. Please read this before you troll me -I am fully aware that there are several oral surgeons in the area - if you had actually read this instead of salivating 0ver an opportunity to belittle me - you would see that I did find an oral surgeon and had my teeth extracted - I just thought that it might be worth mentioning that the incompetent staff here did not fill in the correct insurance forms -it would have cost me $4,000 more if I had gone ahead with the surgery. I did consult 2 other oral surgeons -and the expense there was also too much. After 3 estimates that went from $5,000- $11,000, I did give up for awhile - luckily I noticed a sentence in my policy that changed everything- hence this update - I hope being a dick to a stranger gave you that little burst of superiority you need to get thru the day. Go back to trolling people on Reddit Here's a nice update - I had oral surgery scheduled and the week before - Dr Stivers decided to double his quoted price. I had to cancel the entire surgery because the cost doubled. I was seriously depressed and just couldn't deal - so cut to 3 years later and after discussing this with my oncologist, I actually look at my insurance policy - I had thought that since this was what they do here at Puget Sound Oral Dentistry that they knew what they were doing - it was an $11,000.00 procedure. It turns out that the stellar staff did not submit the right paperwork to the right place. Since my issue was caused by cancer and not a lifetime of eating Cap'n Crunch and not brushing - it had better coverage - my insurance would pay for almost ALL of the procedure if the morons doing his billing knew what they were doing- or they decided to double bill me for extra profit - so I would like to thank Dr Stivers for the last 3 years of pain and embarrassment - I have practically been a shut in - stopped socializing all together and became borderline agoraphobic. I finally did find a doctor that submit the right documentation to the right place - now the surgery that Dr Stivers said was going to cost me $2,800 until he got greedy and pushed it up to $5,000 - is only going to cost me $150.00 This is massive fraud or incompetence- either way Dr Stivers is at best incompetent and at worst committing the worst kind of fraud - I'm going to be seeing if they have done anything Sue-worthy Don't believe anything this crook tells you read more

This place is amazing!! I had to get 2 of my wisdom teeth out asap due to an infection. So only numbing cream with no sedatives because I had no driver: And it went perfect. During the whole process, they kept checking in and asking if I was ok. No pain at all!!! I have bad anxiety but it was not bad at all. In and out in 1 hour for the full thing. The surgery itself only took 10-20 min ( I think ). If you are worried about getting your wisdom teeth removed. GO HERE!! Just focus on your breathing and everything will be fine. They are very responsive, always call back, and always follow up to check on patients. They also follow up on appointments with a call 2 days before, which is very helpful. The office's after-hours support is great, too. I visited them based on a recommendation from a very friendly dentist in Ballard. Upon my first visit, I was immediately overcharged by $900, totally ignorant of the billing fraud, I went through with what I thought was the extraction of 3 wisdom teeth (only 2 were actually removed). A few days later, in what I thought was a follow up call, the receptionist informed me that because they couldn't remove the 3rd tooth, I was entitled to a $900 refund (made me suspicious). I visited the office to ask why the 3rd tooth was not removed and possibly schedule a different date. On my arrival, I asked a few questions about details regarding the surgery, when the same receptionist informed me that she was refunding me because she had initially over-billed me (totally contradicting what she told me on the phone). I asked why, if removing 4 wisdom teeth costs $2800 (only two were removed) and only 50% of the work was complete, is she only refunding me $900. She informed me that the doctor did not have enough time to complete the work; she then told me I would have to pay an additional $900 to get the 3rd tooth, that I had already paid for, removed. I had such a seamless wisdom tooth surgery, I can not recommend Dr. Hart enough! Plus everyone in the office is very friendly and welcoming. I was pretty nervous for the surgery and the after effects but just 1 week later, I can say I would probably do it again to get a day off work (ok, probably can use my vacation days better, plus I have no more wisdom teeth) :) The morning of, I was prescribed a light sedation pill (helps with the anxiety if you're nervous) and antibiotic. After I went in, I was put under IVsedation right after they took my blood (will mention why in next paragraph) and woke up after completed, surprisingly in a good coherent state. You are OUT for all of it. My mouth was numbed out and I ended up sleeping most of the day. I was surprised at how minimal the pain was the next day(s). I was back and out doing normal activities the next day (besides my usual workout, took a week break there). I will mention I was pretty impressed with the L-PRF therapy they used, while I did not see any of it in motion (for the best, blood makes me queasy) I think it helps with the quick healing. So what is it you may ask? They take a couple vials of your blood, spin it in some medical device that separates the white blood cells and active proteins to create bioactive clot that they then inset back in your teeth sites after surgery that helps with natural healing...pretty cool stuff...Apparently this technology has been around for 15+ years, I thought it was super neat. Definitely would recommend Dr. Harts office for those needing to get their wisdom teeth out! read more

For about a year now, my wisdom teeth have been causing me on and off pain... Thanks to yelp, I found my way over to Dr Roberts http://www.yelp.com/bi... I mean, 9 5-star reviews... For a dentist! How is that even possible?! I was more than intrigued... I called up to get a rough estimate on pricing for wisdom teeth removal, but of course I couldn't get ANY sort of figures without them seeing me first. I figured it had been over 3 years since I'd been to the dentist, and I could use a routine checkup/cleaning anyways... So time to pony up. The prices all seemed quite reasonable to me. Only $80 for a checkup/cleaning plus $100 for x-rays. So I went it, they did a cleaning, and Dr. Roberts came over to look at my teeth and x-rays. He decided to refer me to an oral surgeon. Dr. Hart from Maxillofacial Surgery. Well, I went in there, and they had to take a different type of x-ray, which of course cost another $120 or so dollars... But scheduled me up for my removal (1 week later, and 2 weeks after I called for my initial appt. I decided to only remove the bottom 2 (primarily for financial reasons), as I've never really had any problems with the top two and they grew in very straight. Both Dr. Roberts and Dr. Hart didn't really try to convince me otherwise. Their only concern was that sometimes without teeth below them to push against, the other teeth will grow out farther. But neither thought it was too great of a risk. It ended up being a bit pricey to go to Dr. Hart, but still less than the $2000 I had allotted including my dentist trip, and the preliminary appt. at the oral surgeon. Just under $1,200 for the removal, including iv sedation and nitrous. I had them taken out yesterday (Tuesday) and I don't remember a thing... I haven't even taken any of my prescription pain-killers yet today. Yeah, it hurts a little. My jaw is a little sore. But I'd say it hurts less than a sprained ankle! I'm pretty confident I'll even be able to eat thanksgiving dinner tomorrow (Albeit very sowly)! While I did end up paying a bit more than I had originally wanted to, eating is one of my favorite activities ever... And mouth pain sucks. In fact, I'd say that my mouth hurts even LESS than it did when my gums were inflamed from my wisdom teeth... Highly recommend BOTH Dr. Roberts and Dr. Hart. Both of them even knocked some of the cost off of my procedures because I didn't have any insurance. I expect a fantastic speedy recovery! read more

I was overdue in seeing a specialist for my wisdom teeth. After my consultation with Dr. Hart, I learned that 3 out of 4 of them had to removed. Dr. Hart and his staff were warm & welcoming, and professional & courteous. The consultation went so smoothly that I had no doubt in scheduling my wisdom teeth extraction surgery with them. The procedure itself went by so fast. Granted I was not conscious during the procedure itself, I woke up thinking, "That's it?!" Dr. Hart and his team are very efficient as I was in and out in an hour. Upon request, they may give you one of the wisdom teeth they pulled. The post-surgery check was pretty quick too. They showed me how to use the syringe and reminded me to keep my mouth clean, of course. And that really was it! I waited for 15 minutes after my appointment time and had to beckon someone out of the back office whom said they were running late. Another 15minutes go by and with my appointment time half over I had to leave to get back to work. So now I wasted my time driving to capital hill, finding/paying for parking and missing work. I recently had four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Hart at Puget Sound Oral and have nothing but good things to say about my experience. Every interaction by phone and in person was friendly and informative. They made me feel at ease and gave thorough instructions before and after the surgery. I was anesthetized during the procedure so I don't remember anything from that and certainly felt no pain plus the healing process was fast and smooth. Within 48 hours I was already going out and about and by day three had no problem being back in the office. That third day was the most painful but even still was nothing more than a mild pain in the corners of my lower jaw. I didn't even use the prescribed painkillers because I found that ibuprofen was all I needed. Certainly a much more positive and painless experience than I anticipated. I had a wisdom tooth consultation scheduled out a month in advance and was told they would get my x rays from my previous dentist. Two days before the appointment they call and say they can't get them and that my old dentist isn't answering the phone. because they waited so long I did not get my x rays in time and had to cancel the appointment I made over a month in advanced. the office person whoever I talked to was extremely rude and said it was my fault. I'm not even sure if they actually ever called my old dentist and asked for the x rays. i called puget sound multiple times to try and make sure they got my x-rays the day before but they weren't answering. later I find out they had given me a different number than what their website says even tho it goes to dr. stivers voicemail. do not go here if you want x rays emailed from a previous dentist. they may try and scam you. read more

I had all my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Hart after being referred to him by a friend who got his taken out previously. The initial consultation took a long time. I showed up ten minutes early but ended up waiting almost an hour to be seen, basically just for a panoramic x-ray and a ten minute sit-down with the surgeon. Time management aside, my experience with Puget Sound Oral has been great. They prescribed a bunch of medication ahead of time and made sure I had somebody present with me during the surgery (needed since the sleeping pill and the anesthetic make you really loopy). I was in and out in two hours for the actual removal. They sent me home with a flyer that explained what I could / couldn't do for the next few days which was helpful since I couldn't remember anything before leaving the surgeon. I think they did a great job with the surgery because the recovery process went very smoothly. My jaw ached for a day or two but I was basically fine the day after surgery and no longer needed the prescription strength pain killers. I'd definitely recommend for others. read more

Nice people, good work. I was in so much pain when I went here. A tooth had apparently dropped a filling and was rotting out. I don't have insurance, and went in to get it pulled. The dental technician (really nice person, totally spacing on her name) talked to me about pulling vs. root canal and understood that I was coming in on the cheap side. Took my x-ray, got me to see the dentist, who again was a great guy. Dr. Brian Hart did the pull and talked to me while numbing me up. Came in after a few minutes, pulled it, and sent me on my way with a prescription for pain pills. What really was nice was the phone call the next day to make sure I was ok, and to talk to me about the next steps. That was really nice. I thought it was kind of nice to have a follow up for something so minor for them, but kind of major for me. read more

I have been putting off getting my wisdom teeth pulled for about two years now - mostly because I have been terrified! I've never been put on a general anesthetic and I thought the pain would be awful, especially hearing of others horror stories. So I reluctantly set up a consultation with Dr. Hart at Puget Sound Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I was very pleasantly surprised! The whole thing from start to finish felt very comfortable and the staff seemed very trustworthy. I had my teeth out just yesterday and have had no swelling and very little pain - mostly just a mild discomfort. I haven't even had to take the pain killers that were prescribed to me and i've just been on ibuprofen! They take care of you from start to finish - everything from prescribing you something beforehand to calm your nerves, to making sure you're comfortable with everything they're doing and you knowing exactly how to care for your new jaw. I visited Dr. Hart after reading reviews on Yelp. And all of the 5-star review here are completely justified. Staff here is amazing and really helpful. And Dr. Hart is really really really good. Of course it is going to hurt a bit, we are getting something pulled out of our mouth. However, pain was so less that I only used ibuprofen and never had to use prescribed pain meds. I am writing this review on 11 th day and now I am almost back to my normal diet. I still take precaution and avoid eating really hard food, however I am able to eat normal diet. All you have to do is follow their instructions patiently. And your mouth will thank you for choosing Dr. Hart. read more

Dr. Stivers and his team took wonderful care of my elderly mom with dementia who needed a dead tooth removed. They allowed me and her caregiver to be in the room with her during the procedure. Some anti-anxiety medication was prescribed for her in advance, which helped the procedure go smoothly. I was so grateful to have this procedure completed and my mom handled it very well thanks to the very professional and efficient staff. I am not usually one to write reviews, but I felt I just had to write one for this particular business. I am 28 years old, but everyone there treated me like a child - talking down to me, and generally condescending in conversation. The worst was Dr. Hart and the receptionist. Dr. Hart would say things like "take some time off school" (I graduated from college 5 years ago). He treated me like I was an idiot. The receptionist had the audacity to yell at me when I wasn't clear about their policy to have someone present during oral surgery (my understanding was that I just needed someone to pick me up and drop me off). She immediately became angry and said "NO! You cannot do that!! You HAVE to have someone here during the surgery!..." and on and on. She lost it, and, though I normally keep my cool with angry and aggressive people, she had me in tears after she was done laying into me. I didn't even argue with her. She just lost it, and was totally disrespectful and unprofessional. I was not treated with dignity or respect at either of my appointments there. I won't be going back for my follow-up appointment. I am not interested in seeing these people again. I read another review on here - glad to know that I am not the only one that felt this way. I am surprised that my dentist referred me to them, and will definitely have a conversation with her about my experience with her. read more

I seriously do not think I could have had a better wisdom teeth experience than with Dr. Hart. I originally saw a different oral surgeon for a consultation, who warned me that I had a very high chance of permanent lip and chin numbness due to my bottom teeth being close to the nerve. I left that meeting feeling very concerned, and decided to try a second opinion at Dr Harts office. Dr. Hart took his time with the consultation, listened to my concerns, and assured me that the risk of permanent numbness would be low. Everyone including his receptionist and assistant were so welcoming and reassuring (they must understand this can cause a lot of anxiety for some people) that I decided to book it with them for one month later. They called me the day before the surgery to check in and go over the medications (the sleeping/anti anxiety pill before the surgery helps!). I arrived feeling calm, the assistant who I had met before was friendly and helped get my IV set up in the operating room, then Dr. Hart arrived and explained I would start to feel a little sleepy soon. All of the sudden I woke up in the recovery room and it was done! I felt absolutely no transition at all- so weird. It's now the next day and my lip and chin numbness is GONE (not permanent as the other surgeon warned me..) and I have almost no pain!! I took 600 mg of ibuprofen last night and that is all I needed. I suspect the white blood cell/platelet therapy thing they do did help speed up the healing process. Great experience, but the most important part was that the whole staff had such a friendly and reassuring demeanor. My mom even called Dr. Hart after hours last night to ask him some of my questions regarding medications and said he was very kind and helpful about it. As with any kind of invasive surgical procedure, the quality of care you receive before, during, and after is so important for proper healing. This office provides the highest quality of care that I have ever experienced in a dental setting. From Carol's warm smile and welcoming attitude at the front desk to Sandi's helpful financial knowledge (they accept Care Credit!). I cannot recommend this place enough. I tend to feel anxious when it comes to dental work. Just hearing "open up" while I was sitting in the chair during my initial appointment made my pulse spike. Dr. Hart was very patient with me and put me at ease just by his presence. What I mean is that he wasn't looking at me as just another job. He was present with me and my nervousness, making eye contact and answering all of my questions thoroughly. His professionalism and heart-centered confidence reassured me a great deal. She was the first person I saw after walking past that front desk and she figuratively and at times literally held my hand through the whole thing. So I usually put off going to any medical facilities until I'm almost dead-- especially when it comes to anything dental (Real bad experience when I was a kid). It took me a couple years to decide to get all four wisdom teeth out until a few weeks ago cause feeling like I was getting bashed in the face constantly was getting old quick. On the fly at work I looked up oral surgeons under my insurance network and called Dr. Harts office-- cause you gotta love a guy with the last name Hart. This is my first time ever getting good results from an impulse move. Im always overly stressed out when I first go into a medical establishment but the vibe in the office is super chill. I was met with nothing but kindness and smiles from the receptionist and when I went in for my consultation. Dr. Hart is a super personable and a very gentle doctor whose got one of the greatest nurses ever, Caitlin. She was very thorough about the procedure and everything that would happen. Very kind, gentle, genuinely concerned, doting and attentive. That still doesn't sum it up. You can tell shes actually one of those individuals in the medical field who became a nurse for all the right reasons. If you don't know what I mean, take a trip to the ER (good luck). It was almost like hanging out in my living room with family. I totally forgot I was signing myself up to get my teeth ripped out. Real comfortable. After the billing lady came in and broke costs down for me in the room which was barely 2/10th of my paycheck. Had surgery a couple weeks later. I don't remember it at all. I remember arriving there then being in the car home asking if my teeth were out. Recovery wasn't bad. The only kind of pain and issues I had was due to inflammation from my gums but that's what you get pain killers for! Received a courtesy call from the office to see how I was doing. Very cool. Had a post-op appt a week later, was still having rough issues with inflammation. Dr. Hart and Caitlin took their time with me to figure out what was going on and to make it better. Which they did. I never write reviews and haven't written anything this long in a long time but I felt like I should because If you want the best care you can imagine, go here. I've always heard that getting your wisdom teeth out was pretty bad and was nervous about having them removed. Dr. Hart was extremely nice and the staff is awesome. Getting my wisdom teeth out, had a pre check up to schedule date. Appt started at 12 pm, it's been an hour and still sitting in the lobby. Don't know how great they are at their profession, wouldn't know cause they won't come get me out of the lobby. From consolation to follow up appointment, it was an incredibly friendly and professional experience. I had to have a tooth pulled to prepare for an implant. The office space is beautiful and you are greeted by Carol at the front desk who couldn't be sweeter. Three appointments later and I was seen on time, all three times. The procedure and costs were explained to me and so nothing was a surprise on day of surgery. Tooth extraction and post surgery was a breeze. (As much of a breeze as can be for having a tooth out.) Dr. Hart was very nice and personable and the surgical assistants were two. I really felt like they cared about my smile and well being. My experience was about as positive as getting 4 wisdom teeth removed can be. Dr Ralph Zech and his awesome team got me in and scheduled for an emergency consultation within 15 min of me calling as a new patient and I had my teeth removed less than 48 hrs later! From the moment I walked in I felt I was in good hands and felt comfortable throughout the the entire process. I am writing this the SAME DAY as my surgery and have no complaints or pain...wow! Dr. Hart might be competent but his office is not considerate of your time or money. Our 12 year old had seen Dr. Hart for a procedure and was asked to repeat the same procedure on a different tooth. Dr. Hart's office required a 2nd consultation (at added expense) which took a total of 3-5 minutes out of the 1.5 hours we were at his office. We were asked to arrive 10 minutes early, which we did and then waited, and waited, and waited. There was no apparent emergency with other patients. The appointment was un-necessary and resulted in a $44 parking ticket after feeding the parking meter 2 times. We will not return to this office. read more

I cannot overstate how wonderful my experience with Dr. Hart was! I have incredible dental sensitivity, and was frankly dreading having my wisdom teeth taken out. I am so happy to report that the procedure was nowhere near as awful as I had imagined, and I am so grateful to Dr. Hart and his team for the care they provided me. I had no pain, minimal swelling, and required no stitches! The procedure took just over an hour, and the recovery was quick and painless. I have had fillings which caused me more pain and discomfort than this surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Hart and his kind, friendly staff!! read more

The technicians are supportive and treat their patients kindly, they were the only reason why I didn't walk out of the office just before my wisdom teeth extraction. While I cannot speak about the other oral surgeons at this centre, I certainly do not recommend Dr. Ralph Zech. He had no respect for me as a patient who had questions and concerns about the pre-op X-ray evaluation and operation. He was dismissive and arrogant.
