Terrible first impression. I booked via Opencare and received a vague SMS asking me to complete paperwork. When I called to clarify, the staff member refused to give her name, was rude, and said they're "not Opencare," so it wasn't their problem. She then hung up on me. I called back to understand what happened, and she hung up again after I asked to cancel the appointment. Very unprofessional attitude from the front desk. I never thought a root canal on an infected tooth could be utterly painless. The tooth hurt so much, it was debilitating. The stabs of pain would hit and I would have to stop doing anything, talking or even thinking. I needed an emergency root canal to save the tooth and stop the pain. I called got a hold of one of their dentists after hours. She was empathetic, understanding and willing to get me in the very next day. They were able to work with me on payment and the work was done beautifually. I can't even begin to express what all this meant. I was able to save the tooth and be treated for the worst pain I have ever experienced and all because of the wonderful people here. Clean office and nice waiting room, helpful staff, just all around a wonderful experience. I could not recommend them more. read more

She is the first dentist I've had that's ever taken the time to check for jaw issues/bruxism and find ways to accomplish my dental goals while saving $$$. I searched for a dentist that can do a particular type of filling (glass ionomer) that I as a retired dentist knew I needed. I made an appointment thinking I would be seeing Dr. Johnson, as he is the only dentist mentioned on their website and I was not informed by the receptionist. I arrived to a surprise to see I was going to be treated by a new graduate. I am fine with giving someone a chance, especially if they are represented by an experienced dentist who has enough confidence in the person to have them in his office. Mistake! The arrogance of the young woman lead to mistakes in treatment. I had protested two different actions, but was ignored. I will not return, even though the work was not completed. I can't begin to express how much anxiety going to the dentist gives me. I am also, unfortunately, someone who has bad teeth since I was young (thanks genes). So I needed a lot of dental work done and I needed a ton of understanding and compassion. A combo I didn't think I'd ever find because after visiting like 4 dentists prior to, it seemed impossible. Enter Dr. Hurlinman and Dr. Johnson and their team. I was honest with them from the get-go about all the past dental trauma and how I was not a fan of dentists and I received nothing but kindness, empathy and the help I needed and deserved. They have gone out of their way time and again to help figure out all my dental issues as well as make sure I am as comfortable as possible. I appreciate the whole office team immensely. Trust me. I don't want anyone to suffer like I have with finding a dentist that actual cares about you. Go to them. Talk to Sharon at the front desk, who is a gem, and will get you in to see Dr Hurlinman or Dr Johnson and their awesome dental assistants and they'll fix you up! read more

Dr Johnson and staff are the very best! I fell in my garden and smashed my face on a concrete rock, breaking a few of my front teeth and moving some out of place. The office got me right in for an appointment, and Dr. stayed after hours to help me so my teeth weren't so jagged and damaged and to alleviate my pain. Dr. Johnson is a caring and professional dentist, he and his assistant put me at ease during the procedure(s), which really helped as I was distressed when I arrived. We've had great service from Dr. Johnson for many years. He's involved in continuous education, stays current with dental advances and collaborates with specialists as needed. Very professional, courteous staff. He's not a preferred provider on my dental insurance plan, so it costs more. A staffer broke a night guard while cleaning but because it was considered old, we had to pay for a new one without any concession from the doctor. On the other hand, he once replaced a failed crown without charge as well as a free second try at some gum repair. Having two dentists at the practice helps when an emergency comes up... if one is out, the other is available to cover for him. They also validate parking, which is really important in downtown Seattle. Overall we are very satisfied with Dr. Johnson's office and plan to continue our dental care with them. read more

I was very upset about the disaster another dental office had left me with, loose fillings and rough shaping. A friend recommended Dr. Shin as he has been taking care of her. He was able to get me right in, fix my teeth and reshape them. I cannot be more happy with the care and excellent work Dr. Shin has provided. With the childhood history of teeth being poorly treated by Soviet dentists, behind my orthodontically-corrected toothsome smile is a set of dentally-complex teeth. Specifically, 9 missing, 5 crowns, root canals, an implant and abundant fillings. Finding a talented dentist has always been a challenge, and over the years, I have a lot more disappointments than successes. The most recent disaster was replacing old crowns with a new dentist after relocating to Seattle last year. With the new crowns in, chewing on either side was painful. Having gone six times for the adjustments with no improvement, I diligently researched a different dental practice for the second opinion. That is when I discovered Dr. Johnson, thankfully. Dr. Johnson is very experienced, thorough and creative. He gladly took the challenge of figuring out the issues with my bite. Dr. Johnson made the bite models, adjusted one tooth at a time, discovered a cracked tooth that needed a crown, and pointed out open margin on a tooth recently crowed by the previous dentist. I was fascinated by his approach, and indeed it helped! He later placed the crown on the cracked tooth. I also have a crown covering an implant. It's on a molar, yet with my smile being wide I could still see 3 mm of metal implant at the gum line, not covered by the crown. I had previously consulted three dentists and two implant surgeons - they all said that no aesthetic improvement can be made due to the kind of implant that was placed. Dr. Johnson had a creative solution! He shaved down the excess length of the abutment and ordered the crown that came right to the gum line. There's no more metal in sight. Yay! Without a doubt, Dr. Johnson is the best dentist with whom I worked. I highly recommend trusting your teeth to his care. Cheers! read more

Let me start by saying I passionately hate going to the dentist - I'm a full-on, chair-gripping nightmare - so I'm a hard patient to win over. That said, I love Dr. Johnson. I think he's incredibly skilled and has always made me comfortable, be it for minor needs or more major surgical procedures. Thus I will likely continue going to him for as long as he's working. That said, I do wish the individuals employed to work at the front desk of his office could be better screened for general people skills. Through my five years of going here, I've had multiple interactions with multiple individuals working the front desk and / or answering the phone that frankly have just been rude and unhelpful (including an interaction this morning that finally prompted me to write this review). I don't know all of the facets of this job and thus the skills required, but surely an ability to provide kind customer service should be part of the equation. Going to the dentist is hard enough - please hire people that can do this job politely. read more

I recently moved to Seattle and was looking for a dentist that I could trust. Dr Johnson is that dentist. He is very courteous, professional and answered all of my questions in a detailed way. He found an issue that had been missed by my previous dentist and told me straight what I needed to know and how to proceed. While I'm no dentist, his skills seem extremely well practiced with no complaints from me. He even did some touch up work free of charge from a previous procedure by a different dentist. His staff are also very courteous and prompt and also told me in advance costs without being asked which I also respect. Overall, I would highly recommend. read more

Fantastic experience. Let me just say, I hate going to the dentist. I take good care of my teeth so it's not that. I just don't like it. I have sensitivity even during cleanings and for some reason the slightest nerve pain in my mouth is over exaggerated. I joking told the doctor today I'd rather tattoo my face than do x-rays. I called the other day and asked the doctor if he could numb me up before my cleaning so they can do what they need to do without me being a pain in the ass. The doctor hooked me up today. He is great with the needles. I barely felt it. Then he did the whole cleaning and the assistant did the X-ray with zero problems. I found that if I hold a mirror I can do the x-ray easier without gagging like a crazy person. Man what a great experience. Perfect! If you have any issues with the dentist at all just go in there and tell them. They will figure it out and work around it. Every time I've left this place after getting something done I'm constantly shocked at how easy and pain free they make it. (I can take a lot of pain anywhere but at the damn dentists office for some reason). Thank you for making what has always been a bad experience, a good one. I am on a 6 month appointment schedule and asked today if I should go to a 3. I'd happily go more often after days like today. Thanks again. Trust me. Go see these guys. read more

Being recommended to this office seemed perfect because I didn't have a dentist in Seattle and it was across the street from my work. The hygienist Mae was awesome and Lillian who cleaned my teeth was great. The doctor Robert however, was not great. I was running late to my appointment so I called 1 min past my scheduled time. I told the person at the front desk I was running late and was 1 block away, so I should be there in 5min or less and she said no problem. I got there 6min past my appointment time and was seated in the chair at 8min past. Mae let the doctor know I was there and then I sat in the chair for 12 min. ( my appointment was only 30 min). When Robert sat down I honestly was not upset as I too had been late, I just had a meeting right after so I asked how long the procedure would be because since I had a meeting. The doctor responded "well that's your fault. You were late". I was shocked at his response and more his tone. I told him yes I was late and I apologize for that but I called your front desk. He responded "well that doesn't help me." I said no, but it lets you know I'm coming. You just had me wait 12 minutes since I got here. He then argued with me on the timing of when I got there. His tone was extremely condescending. And then he told me since I was late he took in another project. I was really confused as why he took another "project". The point of calling when you are late is to let the person know so they know you are coming and don't take on something else. It also gives them the opportunity to say we need to reschedule. It's not the lateness I am upset about, but his reaction was unbelievable and the fact he argued with me on the blame was incredible. I ended up storming ( I will be fair in my reaction) out of the office and promptly called to have my records emailed to me so I can find another dentist. All in all, the location is convenient his staff is nice and friendly, but apparently the doctor is doing well enough that he doesn't need to care how he treats his patients. read more

I like my dental hygienist, Lilian at Dr. Johnson's office. My teeth are in pretty good shape so I have only encountered the doctor for about 20 minutes in 2 years. This office specializes in cosmetic dentistry- which I cannot comment on since I am poor, but service has been good here. Standard cleaning and check up (without x-rays) was $180. They quoted me $500 for a whitening today. read more

I used to avoid going into dentists due to the fact that I always felt like mouth went through a beating afterwards. I'm glad to say Dr. Jeff Shin is by far the friendliest and caring dentist I have see . He's very gentle with the care he provides and gives me a good laugh every time I see him. Dr. Johnson and his staff at Aesthetic Dental Associates gave me and my wife excellent care during the first week of January, 2014. We received x-rays, check-up, cleaning and cavity repair from Dr. Johnson, Lilian the hygienist and assistants. They were each extremely professional and comforting. I have great confidence in their work and I plan to return to this office for future care. I paid out of pocket about $625 for cleaning, full x-rays, exam and a cavity fill. There may be cheaper options, but this is top-notch service with an excellent dentist. read more

Dr. Shin and his assistant were incredibly helpful, kind, considerate, funny and did AMAZING work! I had a cleaning (one of the best I have EVER had, very thorough) and then went back for a filling that was completely painless. However, I was overall very disappointed by the atmosphere of this office and the way the other employees regarded me. The manager spoke to me like a child and implied that I was lying about my care credit account because she was unable to locate it in their system. She then proceeded to leave me a message and send notes on my bill that continued to imply that I was avoiding payment to their facility or stealing from them in some way, which was far from the case. I simply did not want to call in with the payment because of how incredibly rude and unfriendly she had been, I waited until I knew Dr. Shin's assistant would be at the desk and called in then. Most of the staff made no attempt to be cordial or friendly while I was in the office, which as a customer service specialist myself I found to be very disturbing. You could hear arguing in the background and there seemed to be a general lack of understanding that patients were able to hear what went on in the office between employees. I will not be returning to this office, although I do intend to find Dr. Shin again once he has realized his potential and gone somewhere that better values their clients. If this were a yelp review for Dr. Shin specifically and not for the office of Dr. Johnson I would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I have been coming to Aesthetic Dental Associates for a long time. They always do a great job with my cleanings! I have had my wisdom teeth taken out here, cavities filled and a gum graft. The whole staff has always been very helpful and making sure I am comfortable and ok and checking in with me to see how I'm doing and that I understand the process of what he is doing. Dr. Johnson is a very smart and wonderful dentist, I know that he wants my teeth to be great so he is doing everything he can to make that happen. Highly Recommended! read more

I would like folks to know that the Aesthetic Dental Associates gave me the worst possible care I have ever received from a dentist. They left a piece of gauze in my mouth after having a tooth removed that got infected and if it weren't for me pulling out my own stitches and removing it myself then I would be in very terrible shape about now. I have been spitting up tooth shards ever since my visit. They continued sending me bills claiming my insurance rejected the claim when in fact my HR manager at my company called to confirm my insurance then called Dr. Jorgenson's office to find out they'd entered the information wrong and were billing the wrong insurance policy. I would never go there again. read more
