I had an absolutely horrific experience with Belltown Modern Dentistry. I got multiple fillings and a deep cleaning here, and they completely botched both. I recently had to see an endodontist and another general dentist for a comprehensive evaluation, and both specialists were shocked by how terrible the work was. The fillings are done so poorly that there are massive, highly visible voids and gaps. If I don't pay entirely out-of-pocket to get everything completely redone by a qualified doctor immediately, I am at risk of losing my teeth and needing full extractions. On top of that, the deep cleaning was sub-standard, leaving heavy plaque behind and i have to redo the deep cleaning. I sent a polite email with clear X-ray proof to their management to address this severe failure 3 months ago, and they have completely GHOSTED me and ignored my messages. I have already filed a formal Quality of Care grievance with Delta Dental of Washington to investigate them. Save your health and stay far away from this place! read more

I needed to see a dentist asap and Belltown Modern Dentistry was able to fit me in the next morning. It was my first time going here and I was a little nervous due to past experiences of dental offices pushing aggressive treatment plans that were costly and not really necessary. The girl at the front desk, Linda, assured me that this wouldn't be the case here and that costs would be discussed with me prior to any treatments being done. She was right! The dentist, Andy Hsu, was super nice and very thorough. He recommended a medication called Curodont to treat a few baby cavities that I had but said it was completely up to me if I wanted to just monitor them instead. I was really comfortable and the pricing was more reasonable than I expected so I decided to get the treatment and am really excited about it. I was even was able to buy the Opalescence teeth whitening trays that I see everyone on TikTok rave about! Feels so much nicer to buy them from an actual dental office than from Amazon. Unprepared staff did not order my records before my appointment. I have been waiting over a month for them to finally order my records and provide me with the consult I came in for. I am still waiting for my consult. This is deplorable. I have followed up with unsympathetic staff who have been unable to provide any assistance. Update: I finally got the meeting. But initially the clinic said they'd refuse to see me because of my poor review here. The person on the phone explicitly said "I was trying to destroy the clinic." This is retaliation for me complaining about the inadequate quality of care I received and their breach of their fiduciary duties. This clinic's administration doesn't care about patients. Sadly, I feel like I was almost scammed at this clinic. I made an appointment due to the deal posted out front stating cleaning and exam with xrays for $59 (for new patients which I am, and no other small print), after confirming this again with the person on the phone ("are you sure there isn't a catch?", "no!"), I made an appointment. Upon arriving, they informed me that it will be an additional $120. I just wanted to point out again that the sign said xrays, exam, AND cleaning all for $59 which I ALSO confirmed with the person on the phone. It was a complete bait and switch, do not recommend. $179 total is a big difference from $59. I am just thankful they informed me prior to sitting in the chair instead of post exam and cleaning. read more

Belltown Modern Dentistry is the best dental care I have ever received! My gums were in terrible condition when I first consulted with Dr. Bienstock and within just a few months all of the damage has been turned around. If I ever move out of state, I will fly back to Seattle to continue my care with them - they are just that good! The staff is incredibly responsive and welcoming. The facility is top notch. Going to the dentist will never be "fun", but it doesn't have to be miserable. Dentist Brian Bienstock and assistant Vlad are great! Very friendly and communicative throughout the visit. They check-in on the well being of the patient through whatever procedure. The front desk ladies are very welcoming and make the checking-in/out and scheduling process very easy. Dr. Bienstock and his healthcare team is exceptional. They don't only look at your teeth health, but ensure to look at your whole health with their practice. Dr. Bienstock's dental assistant took my blood pressure prior to my x ray and noticed that it was high like (150/116) Took it again twice with the same results. I had no symptoms aside from a slight headache. Dr. Bienstock told me that I need to talk to my PCP. I didn't think much of it and the next morning talked to my sister, whose a nurse, and she reiterated that it was dangerously high and send me to urgent care. Urgent care Dr was also worried and sent me to ER. ER took all the precautions, blood test and CT scan - all resulting in normal except my blood pressure. Now I'm on BP meds, but if Dr. Bienstock and his team did not take my blood pressure at the clinic - I WOULDN'T have KNOWN! I'm 36 yo with a genetic predisposition for a high BP, but I would have never checked my BP outside of the clinic. He could have injected me with anesthesia double the dose and increased my blood pressure and I would have been in stroke levels when I left. There are all these "what if's" that could have happened, but with the exceptional healthcare practice that Belltown dentistry provided, I didn't have a worst case outcome. *Update* Shortly after leaving my review, Jamie (The office manager) called me to apologize. She made me feel at ease and offered to make things right. We worked together to make and appointment for the SLU office. I was rescheduled to have the procedure done in March. On 2/14/23, Dr. Tae Lim Youn (The Oral Surgeon) called me to request that I take my review down. I told him I was not taking it down as everything that I wrote was true. He offered to do the sedation for free as well as cover my deductible if I took it down. I told him no. This is when things got ugly. He accused me of not being a patient of Belltown Modern Dentistry. I do not go often. However, my chart clearly shows that I've been going since 2021. In fact, my first extraction was done there. He basically told me that the exchange would be a "1 for 1." He stated that he's also the surgeon at the SLU office as well. I'm so glad that he told me that. I will be sure to not go to any of their locations ever again. I was definitely willing to give them a second chance because of Jamie. However, Dr. Youn really has bad business practices and ethics. I am so glad I recorded that conversation as well. Do not believe the hype on the reviews of this place. They are clearly offering free procedures for good reviews. The absolute worst! A procedure was scheduled for me to get a tooth extraction with sedation. When I arrived to the office at 7:30 am with my partner, I was told that I would have to reschedule as that is not what they had in their system. Now me and my partner are out of an entire days work. Then I asked for a full refund and was told that it was submitted but not approved. I honestly will never go back here as they don't have their stuff together. Being new to Seattle, I wanted to get a dentist that was local (aka close to work) and covered by insurance. The office is easy to find; clean and modern and the staff were very friendly (almost overly so). I made my first appointment online and the dentist saw me within 5 mins of me arriving. The dentist whom I saw was nice enough. She explained everything that I had questions about and always asked if I understood (which I did). The assistant was also super helpful and always made sure that while he was taking x-rays that I was comfortable and I never felt worried or anything. However, I didn't get what I wanted at the end of a one-hour visit... All I wanted was a cleaning... To keep it short, the dentist said that I couldn't do a regular cleaning because I needed to do a "deep-cleaning" which I couldn't really refuse to; plus a bunch of other things she recommended. I had to make another appointment to go in and do the cleaning with the hygienist (and the appointment was weeks out); plus it would be a very expensive visit! And the parts that were covered by insurance, meant I had to come back twice because they couldn't do the whole amount at once. I was very disappointed because I felt like I sat there for an hour to only get an evaluation on my teeth and now would have to pay out of pocket to come back weeks later. I asked for a second opinion at another dentist and they saw me the same day AND gave me a cleaning and told me that there wasn't anything to worry about (phew!). When I called back to Belltown Modern to cancel my hygienist appointment, the receptionist didn't even take notice and I got another call a few days later asking if I'm coming in... uh... what? Anyway, I was not impressed. I give one star for the modern look and cleanliness of the clinic; and another star because I think the dentist does have a lot of experience and knows what she's talking about, but I'm afraid I just felt too much pressure to pay for something I knew was covered. read more

First time here and I was really happy with how my visit went. Ricky at the front desk is very personable and helpful. I had X-rays done by Dylan who was very kind and often checked in with me to see how I was doing. Dr. Brian B looked at my teeth and gave me a comprehensive dental plan, and explained each step in the process. I really like that instead of the dentist having a computer behind me that I couldn't see, it was right in front of my seat and helped me to understand what the doctor was talking about. Yup, definitely not about your insurance - I spoke with my insurance provider today, who actually said "you have one of the best plans I've ever seen". So even she felt bad for me that this visit of mine to BMD is now costing me over $600, now that they have processed the claims, since apparently some of the x-rays/images they took were not covered, either (and what do you know, when I asked BMD for the itemized bills they conveniently left out all the x-rays/images). I can't imagine what someone with less insurance coverage has to pay at this racket. read more

My insurance lost their contract with Willamette Dental Group (WDG) and I am GLAD because I discovered Belltown Modern Dentistry (BMD). Previously, I was always questioning why WDG recommended only 1x/year preventative cleaning but didn't push it further. When I visited BMD, Dr. Julian Nguyen truthfully told me the decay he had found and that 2x/year preventative cleanings are standard practice. I just had 3 fillings replaced and he took the extra time and effort to make sure they were thoroughly cleaned out and that I was happy with my bite. He was also very vocal about everything he was doing, walked me through each step and frequently ensured I was comfortable. Jaylin (the benefits coordinator) was also very helpful. She is knowledgeable about the new dental HMO plans in Washington and printed out my insurance benefits booklet and compared them to the receipts I was being charged that day. This clarified any confusion I initially had about pricing. read more

I've been going to Belltown Modern Dentistry for over a year now, and must say I am very impressed with their staff. Dr. Monacelli is amazing, she was able to find out what was bothering my tooth that I've had looked at for years and no one else could find the problem. She pays attention to detail and is very patient and kind. Her and Dr. Polillo also placed my wife's implant and she could not be happier. They made sure she was comfortable and did not hesitate to do things to make her more comfortable. This place is amazing, I highly recommend going here! read more

Dr. Pacyga is very friendly and patient. He and his support staff did an amazing job on my crown. They were very warm and caring and did the upmost job to ensure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. Also, I have extreme anxiety when it comes to visiting the dentist - I've barely been to one in the past 8 years. This had led to major neglect when it comes to my teeth. After finishing work on my crown, Dr. Pacyga came up with a very thorough treatment plan to tackle my numerous problems and concerns, without being judgmental or patronizing. He really put my mind at ease that my teeth can be saved! :) I'm very impressed with this office and I'm excited (as much as I can be for a dentist visit lol) to go back! read more

Dr. Elizabeth Monacelli has been my primary doctor at Belltown Modern Dentistry for over four months now, and I won't see any other than her. She performed my tooth extraction and bone graft, my root scaling and planing, and filled two cavities. My recovery time was extremely quick, and with my tooth extraction I felt no pain at all the next day. She is amazing at what she does, very respectful and courteous, and takes great care to make sure there is no pain throughout the process. She is also very fast and thorough, and was considerate of my time constraints due to my job. I highly recommend not only Belltown Modern Dentistry, which has a polite and caring staff, but Dr. Monacelli as a primary dentist as well. read more

Billing issues - I got an "out-of-network" claim submitted from another dentistry sharing the same tax code as them saying that I owe $214. How does this chain share my insurance information with another chain in another city that I've never even been to? The other dentist doesn't even know how this happened. I am waiting for a response on what this claim is and how/when they will correct this. I regret going here. read more

His staff was helpful throughout the entire transaction and did everything they could to ensure I was comfortable. "The smile generation" i am not smiling. I'm really bummed and a bit angry, i will no longer be using this dental office. This office used to be great when Dr. P was running it. I had been going here for the past five years without issue. Now that the office was sold to a different practice I've had the worst time scheduling. I have waited since the beginning of February for my cleaning. It's now the last third of March. I've had my appointment changed three times. Two of those times they called the wrong number, leaving voicemails but provided no other form of notification. One of these canceled appointments i showed up to, and only found out when i went to check in. They tried to fit me into the schedule and when i got in the chair they couldn't get the nitrous to work. I settled to schedule for the end of March and the morning of my 9:30 appointment they call at 8:30 letting me know they can't do my appointment because the dental assistant called out. I was able to schedule for the same time the next day, but that is and will be my last time at this dental practice, which is unfortunate because it seems that the providers do care and try there best. read more

This was not something she had to do, but could see I was emotionally upset about my appointment (not wanting braces again) and took time out of her day to help make my life easier. I came to the dentist for the first time in an embarrassing amount of time, now that I finally have dental insurance. I was afraid the dentist was going to shame me for this, but there was none of that here. The reception staff, technicians, hygienists and dentist were all thoughtful, and obviously cared about their work and about my comfort. I struggled with the initial X-rays, and the tech assisting me worked as fast as she could to minimize my discomfort as much as she could. The dentist was fun, smart, and easy to talk to. He walked me through every action he took and almost even made the experience fun. That's a very weird thing to say about a dentist's visit, but it's true! When I was struggling to figure out how to manage my co-pay, the staff assisted me in accessing a program to help with the bill. I can't recommend this dentists office highly enough. They really blew me away. If you're looking for a dentist in the Belltown, downtown or lower Queen Anne area, you should give these guys a try! read more

I was a little hesitant to find a new dentist, as I'd been seeing Dr. Quarnstrom at Beacon Hill Dental Associates since I was a child but just found out they don't take Delta Care, a subsidiary of Delta Dental. However, since I wanted to stick to my $5/month dental insurance fee through work, I looked around. Belltown Modern Dentistry just started taking Delta Care about 6 months ago, lucky for me. I'm usually a little cautious about writing a stellar review up front, but the 2.5 hours I just spent at Belltown Modern was exceptional. First, a friendly receptionist greeted me right away as I entered the door, acknowledged and thanked me for filling out my medical history online, and had me verify and electronically sign some paperwork. They have small black electronic signature pads for this process. I was about 10 minutes early for my appointment, and I waited about 20 minutes, so 10 minutes past my appointment time which was acceptable. Dr. Polillo jumped in right away and introduced himself and asked if I had any concerns to address up front, a process I wasn't accustomed to and somewhat surprised me. A wonderful hygienist named Heena helped me get my digital x-rays taken and also used a cool laser lighted device to take my "live photos." During the exam, Dr. Polillo was very clear and light-hearted about what my gum tissue and teeth looked like. He recommended a wisdom teeth extraction from one of their surgeons at another branch. Desaia, the office manager, stepped in for about 20 minutes to explain my insurance and the exact breakdown of the costs for the day. We discussed how Delta Care differs from Delta Dental, which helped me decide on sticking to Delta Care because it's better and cheaper for basic services. She explained how the Amalgam filling was free, but not recommended, and that the enamel-colored filling was going to cost me a little more. I truly appreciated how up-front she was about the costs and it's going to help me make a decision on what kind of procedures I want done on me for my wisdom teeth extraction. Heena completed my cleaning, and Dr. Polillo and his assistant Winter performed my filling. Everything was efficient and done with genuine care. I felt safe in the hands of brand new service providers and was surprised with how quickly I trusted these folks! I love that they utilize cutting-edge technology, not only for show, but for utility. What really shows for me, however, is their service and ability to truly meet the patient's needs. read more

I had a GREAT exam here, loved Dr. Polillo. I was going to get some cleaning done after but unfortunately had issues with my new dental insurance, so had to check with them and reschedule. I got my insurance issue fixed shortly after, and that was about a month ago -- and have been calling/e-mailing about re-scheduling my cleaning and haven't heard back in any form of e-mail or voicemail to this day. Really disappointed. Now I will have to get another exam and take my service elsewhere as it seems all booked up, and I am moving next month. read more

BMD was absolutely wonderful and turned my awful dental experience at my last doctor into a good one. I am very thankful for the BMD staff who are kind, comforting, and enthusiastic about their work. I came into the office feeling high levels of anxiety thanks to a very bad experience at different dentist earlier in the week. BMD staff took time to get to know me, chat with me, and make me feel comfortable before beginning any work. The doctor and assistants were patient and calm with me when I was concerned about a procedure. The filling process itself was the best I've ever experienced thanks to the expertise of the doctors who are skilled both in people and technical skills. Omg omg omg omg !!!! I have so many awesome things to say about Belltown Modern Dentistry. I wanna say I am not from Seattle and trying to find a Dentist is extremely hard in Seattle. I went to two different low income sliding scale places and I had the worst luck. Long story short if this dentist wouldn't of worked I would of stopped trying. I need to have a root canal done that was a emergency situation that was infected and needed to be treated. I have other teeth issues but this needed to be addressed first. I had the dentist Brian Polillo and he was amazing. The office staff all extremely nice and broke everything down finically so I could understand the expenses. I was not "left in the dark" they did a amazing job breaking everything down. I do have dental insurance and they explained what was covered. The energy is great in that office from the lady that greeted me in the front to the dental hygienists to the dentist. They all worked as a team to help satisfy my needs to my tooth fixed. I will be referring to others and I highly highly suggest this dentist if you are having issues finding one to meet your dental needs. Keep up the great work ! I enjoy coming to the dentist again! Each time I arrive I'm greeted warmly by the receptionist and shown into the "exam room" quickly. I just adore the ladies at the front desk, they are kind and easily approachable with questions. I appreciate how detailed the doctors are when answering concerns and explaining treatments (in an easily understandable manner). Dr. Monacelli is so caring and gentile and I love how warm and friendly she is during my visits. She has gone above and beyond to help remedy a filling that I had some sensitivity with, replacing the filling at no cost and keeping an open door when I need to come in for minor adjustments (filing filling down and re-fitting my night guard). Dr. Polillo was also great, he made a few jokes and kept the mood light, while keeping me informed on my options for treatment. I will definitely be referring others to this location. read more

Dr. Monacelli is the sweetest most caring dentist ever she's so gentle and loving, you can truly tell she loves her patients! Dr. P is also a hoot, he's so fun and energetic and makes sure you're always satisfied! I highly recommend anyone going to this office, they deeply care about everyone who walks through their door.
