We were able to trade in almost two full bags of clubs - one a well used set of women's clubs and one a gently used set of beginner kid clubs, and received $120 in store-credit. My stepson was able to get a great "new" putter that he loves, and I got my putter regripped. We're in town for an anniversary getaway and I didn't want to go to the typical tourist places. So I arranged for my husband to do something he really enjoys - Golf! He's never used a golf simulator before, Mike was welcoming and knowledgeable. In a way, it feels a bit like "a dive" with its location and sharing the building and parking lot with the Tobacco Hut ... but really, it suits its purposes very well. Inside it's pretty utilitarian - it does what it needs to do. There was a seat where I could sit and watch my husband practice. It took a while for my husband to get used to using the simulator, but once he did, he enjoyed it. The two men in the bay next to us were helpful with offering a few tips when needed (thank you Tom & Henry!). Henry's comment "it's a great way to practice swinging in the winter". Since we're from out of town, my husband didn't have club with him. Mike allowed him to borrow a set. So, we're back for a 2nd day!

Also with the intention of buying a new Ogio bag for my clubs and small walking bags for both of us. To our shock, their "master fitter" not only refused to do a fitting "because it was too close to closing time", but wouldn't even schedule a fitting for us on another day. Instead, he told me to "go ahead and try to book a time on line". I get that we were there later in the evening, but to refuse to help with a fitting, direct us towards some clubs that would work for us or to even put in the effort to schedule a time for us to come back, blows my mind! Being in sales, if a potential customer came to me and wanted to buy several high value items, the last thing I would tell them is to go away and look it up online. Getting people through the door and ready to spend money is the whole reason stores spends millions on advertising every year. This guy took that opportunity and absolutely blew it! Not only losing revenue of a returning customer for the store, but also the opportunity to outfit a new golfer who needed everything from shoes, to gear, and a whole set of clubs. We would have spent at least $3,000- $4,000 this evening, probably more, had we been given the opportunity. Instead we spent about 20 minutes browsing around, picking out the Ogio bag, the Stealth Driver, the Ping putter, the Callaway set of irons we will now purchase from another retailer before driving the 40 minutes back to our house without spending a dime in that store. Maybe it's because I'm a woman that he didn't take my business seriously. Maybe he just didn't want to actually have to do his job. Maybe he was tired or lazy or just didn't give a care. I don't really care about the why. What I do care about is where I spend my and if that retailer values my business. Clearly this guy didn't want our business this evening. I hope he has the opportunity to see this and more importantly, I hope he works on commission.

I recently went in for a Long Game fitting with Doug Mcilvain, and it turned out to be one of the…read moremost valuable experiences I've had for my game. From the start, the fitter took time to understand my current setup, typical ball flight, and what I was hoping to improve. Instead of rushing into swinging clubs, we talked through my strengths, weaknesses, and playing habits. The fitting itself was very detailed. Using launch monitor data, we tested several different club heads and shaft combinations. I was able to see real numbers like ball speed, spin rate, and launch angle. Doug explained everything clearly and adjusted clubs throughout the session so we could dial in the best combination. I am excited to get the new clubs out on the course and play!

I sent them a trade-in set of irons, some hardly used. They lowballed the price right off the bat,…read morethen claimed the condition was bad and lowered their payment even more. I fully expected that my equipment exceeded their grade for "average", they couldn't even be trusted to honor that. The turnaround was slow. The clubs sat at their location for over a week before they even looked at them. DO NOT sell them your used clubs. Be aware this is not an individual store I'm talking about, it's their corporate HQ. It has been a totally bad experience. I also had ordered a Cobra fairway wood from them, and it was supposed to have a Denali Black shaft, it came with a blue. So their staff botched to description of the club, or more likely sent me a different one. So basically both of my interactions with them have been bad. I have to use up my credit with them, and I'll never do business with them again.

My swing is a self-made disaster. But functional. Colin recognized this and was inclined to work with what was on the table. I asked Colin to take the time to fix the fundamental issues and he dove into the assignment headfirst. We worked on big fixes to big problems and there was real headway made by the end of our time together. I have SO MUCH WORK TO DO based on just these 45 minutes. But thats EXACTLY what I wanted and got from my lesson time. Thank you Colin. You're honest without being too brutal ;P
