I called Mr. Rooter of Fulton to fix the problem Tuesday morning. With-in an hour, a plumber is there. The plumber calls me an hour after and told me that the problem is that he needed to snake the pipe. Before snaking the pipe, he had to unscrew tiles to get to the pipe. He asked for my payment information and I gave it to him (too trusting of an idiot that I am) without asking him for the price. After giving him the payment info, I asked him for the price. I was not provided with an estimate of the cost of the job before he started work. The bill came out to be $322.49 after tax for ONE HOUR's worth of work. I emailed and called Peter (the owner) and had no success in speaking with him directly. I was offered a $25 discount for the next job from one his employee that snaked the pipe.

I'm certain the work would have been excellent; however, I was hoping to save with a local plumber. I would have appreciated being able to receive a ballpark estimate over the phone. They needed to have a technician look at the existing unit before an estimate could be given. After the technician spent 3 minutes looking at the unit and I declined the very expensive install, it was explained that there was a $70 fee for the visit. This is reasonable; however, if that had been disclosed ahead of time, I would have likely gone elsewhere.

When I hired another company come out to service my 2nd furnace in the house since Oswego Mechanical was too busy, I was told it had not been cleaned in years. Took Phil just over an hour to clear the clog. He gave me the option to have him stop or continue and snake and clean out all the issues in the sewer line. Phil expressed how bad the sewer condition was in as we didn't think it was ever cleaned in the 97 years our home has been here. Decided to have him continue cleaning the line and then flush it for one final step to remove all the residue. Excellent work and would highly recommend.
