Last week we got only ice cream but today we tried some food-- a bacon cheeseburger, chicken tenders, and chili cheese fries. We could tell they were probably frozen but they tasted good and the chicken had some nice seasoning in it. The burger was huge and the chili cheese fries were packed in. It's all a good price for what you're getting and I'm happy that they charge fair. We had a banana split and it was huge. 3 flavors of ice cream with 3 sauces! We tried pecan praline with peanut butter as one of our combinations and it was delicious. What I really like about this place is the nostalgia. It reminds me of my childhood and going to a retro Pizza Hut or the local skate rink or bowling alley. Living up to its "old fashioned" name. It is so family friendly and has character that a lot of places lack. Sometimes it's nice to see teenagers working their after school jobs, especially when it's a cute place like this. It took some effort, but I finally find them via Instagram, pull up to their truck parked somewhere in the swamps of West Ashley, and order the Meatball Hero (marinara on toasted Italian roll and topped with Pesto, parmigiana, and stracciatella). The preparation took a little time but trust me - that is a good thing. Before long, we complete the handoff, and I walk back to my car and immediately take a bite. Incredible. Are these the best meatballs I've ever had? No, they are not. That trophy belongs to my departed Italian mother's concoction. However, these are so good, tasty and fresh, I find myself heading back on a weekly basis (if not more). I wanted to try their pasta and other things but couldn't get off the meatball hero. Finally, the owner, in an almost plea to rid me of my demons, suggested the chicken parm hero (chicken cutlet with marinara, mozzarella, provolone, and parmigiana with pesto/stracciatella on a toasted Italian roll), and I obliged. Equally incredible, with a red hot fried fresh chicken cutlet smothered in a molten mess that was glorious to eat. Both sandwiches should be common in the Northeast (with varying degrees of quality) but finding them in Charleston at this culinary level is as rare as driving down a street with no flooding. We're talking about super high-quality food here (shockingly prepared in a truck) at a more than reasonable price. The following week, I went back to my meatball hero, because it's what I crave. I'll eventually get around to trying the pasta, but for now, let me go down swinging with a toasted Italian roll in my veins and a smile on my face. Our waitress was very friendly and helped us with the menu since it was our first visit. We ordered the cheese pizza with mushrooms. We also ordered the large hot wings with blue cheese dressing. The food came out quickly. The pizza crust was thin and chewy. The sauce was amazing! They had parmasean cheese and red peppers at the table. The wings were big and had a crispy coating. The hot sauce was perfect and the blue cheese tasted fresh. We will be back to try the subs and salads. This is a great family owned local business. I recommend you try Sangaree Pizza!
