There is no shortage of fun fall activities to do in New England; Pumpkintown USA is a must see. They've been open for about 20 years with over 100 pumpkinhead people. Pumpkinhead people are scarecrows with faces painted on the pumpkins as heads. They're creative and cute. There are two venues, The Forest and The Village. The Village is a walk through and it takes about an hour for $7. There are about 30 pumpkinheads with different scenes; church, saloon, bank, post office, fire house, etc. The Forest is a one mile drive through and takes about 20 minutes for $25. There are about 30 pumpkinheads with different scenes; coal mine, schoolyard, and more. The ride is narrated, there's a scavenger hunt, and you can buy treats for the ride, such as popcorn, cider, and cider donuts. They also have multiple shops onsite. The harvest store has produce, gourmet food items, souvenirs, and gifts. The garden center has annuals, perennials, shrubs, etc. The main store has hardware, house plants, pet supplies, and a Christmas shop etc. Around Thanksgiving, they open up for the Christmas season and the pumpkinheads are waiting to be viewed via drive by, in their holiday spirit. My family and I went last weekend to The Village. The kids and adults thoroughly enjoyed walking through and seeing all the pumpkinheads. They did a great job with the scenery and putting the pumpkinheads together. There were many photos ops. I especially loved the pumpkinhead wedding. For the kids, they had a hay bale maze, inflated tires to jump around on, a spider web rope playscape, and an area where they can shoot soft balls into a pond. They also were selling fresh to order apple cider donuts; picnic tables were available to sit on. The parking lot was large and they had people guide us where to park; they even had a police officer as a crossing guard. They have a seamless operation and this place is worth a visit! read more

I love to see a seasonal family business like this. This little place is adorable. It's a friendly and fun place for little kids to enjoy. There's a lot of creativity with the pumpkins that anyone will appreciate. Nothing scary, witchy or haunted here. I'm an adult and I don't have a child, I still enjoyed this for the creativity aspect behind it, but the tour will end quick if you're over 10 years old. They also have a cute little store with vegetables, and other local goods. They sell homemade apple cider donuts and delicious hot apple cider. There are also a few fun activities the kids can play. Admission is $6 for adults and less for kids. I would for sure bring a child here each fall. The pumpkin people are a wonderful creation to see. read more

We love pumpkintown! We visit every year. Fun event for kids, love the trip through the woods to see the pumpkin people! My daughter is gluten free so I bring gluten free donuts as there are treats for purchase that aren't gluten free. This year I found packaged gluten free chocolate chip cookies and brownies in the store which were really appreciated! read more

This is our first time coming here and I know due to Covid it's different, but it was still super enjoyable. The price is high....but it's a fun 10 min or so drive thru. Open 7 days a week late September through Halloween (began 1990) with a $3 admission (6 weekends) a portion of the funds goes to the Sandy Peszynski Breast Cancer Foundation after co-founder Sandy passed away from it. They have a hay ride that has a separate fee per person that takes you around the area and back and pumpkin patch with metal wagons to help you for purchase . What started off small (only two pumpkin people)now turning into over 70 with a village of their own. They own a car, saloon, post office and more . Pumpkin adults and children arrange throughout the village. They have a corn maze huge black tubes the children could jump on and a few more activities. There is a store adjacent to the village where you could buy anything from honey, fruits and veggies picked from a farm, candy, toys and even popcorn (2 a bag) & apple cider donuts. It has a nice warm cozy feeling inside and really good prices. This is where you'll buy your admission ticket to the pumpkintown. On the weekends they have a pumpkin bounce house. My only issue is that I came with my son and my goddaughter who is 4 (Friday morning) and she seen the bounce house and jumped in it and was taken out by an adult who said they had a private party and no one else was to enter but them. Now, I was frustrated because it was right next to everything else when this should have been put somewhere else and there was only a 10 inch sign stuck in the ground saying private party where are you'd have to be staring at the ground to see it. The line in the store was long so I wasn't going to complain but was very upset if they're going to do a private event it should be more private and not enticing the children read more

This is a great family attraction. $2 entry fee and $7 for the hay ride. We showed up for the last hayride and entry was free after 3pm. The proceeds go to funds that help cancer research because a family member of the owners died of cancer. So we gave extra cash in a glass lock box on the way out The displays at the store and at various spots along the hayride are all artistically made to look like people with the heads made from decorated pumpkins, or animals made from decorated pumpkins. Pumpkintown USA is on the property of and run by the owners of Paul and Sandy's, Too. It is a nursery and lawn/garden store. But it is a completely separate entity because you don't have to go into the store. The barn that you do go into is filled with very lovely farmstand items, autumn produce, clever Pumpkintown swag, and snacks for the day. Snacks like cotton candy, maple kettle popcorn, fresh made popcorn, hotdogs, chips, drinks, and water. The pie pumpkins were only .49/pound, and I actually make pie with them! Overall, it is a must-see. We drove from Worcester, MA because my husband is from East Hampton. It was completely worth the ride. We will be making this an annual event. read more

I'm a little torn with this one. My 4 yr old did enjoy himself at Pumpkintown. The pumpkin village itself is not very big but he did have fun seeing all the different pumpkin people. I think his favorite part was jumping in the huge blow up pumpkin. There was a small maze and some tires to jump on. Your admission fee includes one free sling shot. The hayride is an additional fee. It's a mile long ride through the woods where you get to see a lot of pumpkin people. My son lost interest about five minutes into the ride. He couldn't wait to get to the apple cider donuts. I would not recommend going on the weekend since the prices skyrocket. We paid $13 per person (over the age of 2) which includes the town and hayride. It's less expensive during the week. And if you're like me you're going to end up buying your kid an $8 painted pumpkin and apple cider and maple kettle corn so save some money by going during the week. read more

Fantastic and worth every penny! Strap in for this: Both the Ride and the Village are completely delightful for all ages. The displays themselves are whimsical and creative enough on their own, and they make it even more engaging with a trail ride scavenger hunt game (just for fun, no prize but your own pride, LOL)! The "villagers" all have clever names and there's so much attention to detail everywhere you look. Spring the $3 to play the "sling-a-ding," and let the kiddos climb on the tractor, solve the hay bale maze, slide down the firepole, and bounce on the giant inner tubes. Pre-Covid there was even a pumpkin bounce house and face painting, so fingers crossed for their future return... Enjoy your fresh apple cider cold and refreshing or hot and comforting, it hits the spot. Don't pass up a bag of some of the best fresh apple cider doughnuts you'll ever have - and yes you'll want a bag, just do it. The market has lots of cute artisan items and fresh seasonal produce, worth putzing around to find a tasty treasure, local souvenir, or gift. I was reluctant to visit Pumpkintown based on some reviews. We decided to check it out and our children loved it! It is definitely for younger children (mine are 9, 7, 5). It was refreshing to find an age-appropriate non-scary Halloween place. We purchased tickets for the village and hayride ($60 for my family of 5 with 5 tickets for 1 free ball at sling-a-ding). The town is adorable and there are plenty of places for photo opps. They had a large pumpkin bouncy thing, another area where kids can jump on inner tubes, the above mentioned sling-a-ding game, free face-painting (there is a tip jar - the money goes to the Sandy Peszynski Breast Cancer Foundation). There is an area to purchase reasonably priced snacks and eat them at picnic tables. The bees were overwhelming in this area, so we found a bee-free bench for eating and drinking. The Harvest Shop is worth visiting even though they don't make it about the store. I really appreciated that they keep Pumpkintown completely separate so you aren't forced to go through the store unless you want to. The highlight was the hayride. My children were so excited as each new pumpkin people scene appeared in view. read more

The village is adorable! It has not changed since I brought my son who loved the consistency of the exhibit. Last week, we brought my two year old niece on a weekday and I was a bit disappointed as the entrance fee for anyone 2 and older was charged. So, the entrance fee totaled $15 and the hayride would have been an additional $40. We did not go on the hayride but would have liked to. I just learned that an undisclosed portion of the fee is donated to Breast Cancer Research and as a survivor, I think that is wonderful. Personally, if I was in charge of marketing, I would charge $1 entrance fee for adults and kids over 7. I would charge $10 for t-shirts as $19.99 for a kids t-shirt that advertises a business is outrageous! Charging $4 for the painted pumpkins instead of $8 would make parents of 1 or 2 children more likely to purchase items. The current admission revenue would be covered because people would be more likely to spend in the shop. This would still allow a portion of admission or all of the admission income to be donated. read more
