Once 9/11 occurred it made stopping at George's a little more effort so that we could get frozen meat back home without ice. However, George's came up with their absolutely delicious thin beef jerkies and that has been a must buy ever since!! And now, they have the best snacks and energy bars! I've not been able to go lately but a friend of mine was gracious enough to offer to purchase for me and bring it back to me!! I feel ever so lucky to have bags of beef jerky and energy bars in my hands!! Hoping to get to George's myself soon!!

They also carry other odds and ends you'd expect in an Asian specialty store. Personally, I appreciate the variety of instant noodles that they have. I am a simple person. But really, if you're in need of an obscure ingredient, this is the place I'd look for it. Other things of note with Kilauea Market, the staff have always been friendly and helpful, you'll never have a hard time finding parking, and they're located quite conveniently a little ways down the road from Hilo Shopping Center.

The worst part was when they got out, they started laughing and making jokes about how they made me move. It continued and I approached them to explain what I was trying to do, but they ignored me and continued to laugh at me and make jokes about me. I am 70 and consider this elder abuse. It has put a very sour taste in my mouth about Suisan company. Don't they train them in customer service and that it is a small community- you don't do these things to people, especially elders. In fact I remember when fishcake in Hawaii was made from local fish including shark (good thing that is pau). Amano is without a doubt the best out there. You can taste the Gobo, you know the vegetables are present. In the plain fishcake, Amano has just the right amount of sweetness. My favorite is Gobo Maki or Gobo Tempura which is good cut in long strips for ramen or saimin, but Char Sui Tempura is good and must be popular because Walmart sells out as soon as it comes.
