Firstly, I have had food twice here and was unimpressive both the times. Being an Indian and traveled across India experiencing various cuisines, I can say their quality of food is below par. This incident compelled me to write this review, we are a party of 6 and planned to visit this place as this is the closest one to us in Turlock which turned out to be an unpleasant experience. Arrived at the restaurant around 8 pm while the timing states that they close at 8:30 pm. The person at the counter said they closed the kitchen in a rude manner and shooed us away. This felt very discriminatory and it's sad to see that Indians bring their regional and cultural discrimination to the states. Could have been polite to tell us that they are closed. Seems like they have pathetic customer service. I would suggest to avoid this place. read more

Wow! What an awesome find! $1.99 for samosas (2 pieces!). They were buttery and delish, sauce seemed homemade which was great. I got the lamb vindaloo. I asked for spicy and it was actually spicy. Lamb wasn't too gamey. Rice was perfectly cooked. Garlic naan was really good too. I wish I ordered more to take home to the Bay. As for service, it was totally fine. Not Michelin star service but not terrible. What are people expecting? They take your order and bring you good. What more do you want? read more

Never have I been so underwhelmed with Indian food... Never! Flavors were bland and everything tasted like -- how shall I put it -- microwave food. So far I've had: chicken tiki masala ( 9/10 ) very flavorful. the regular white rice & rice pilau ( both 10/10 ) ~ would recommend rice pilau garlic naan ( 10/10 ) can never go wrong with garlic naan! samosa chanaa ( 8/10 ) a real good appetizer though it had me full! they gave me an extra samosa and the chickpeas were a great addition to them. butter chicken (1000/10) this was definitely star of the show, would recommend and will be having again.. and again! Ive been coming here off and on and never had a good experience. I get that the food takes almost an hour sometimes but if it takes that long it should be damn good. Last time here I ordered the chicken tika with 2 orders of garlic naan, got home and once again I got only 1 order of naan when I paid for 2. No biggie not the first time I've been skimped. Started eating grabbed the naan and its extremely stale :(. It was literally a challenge to try and tear pieces off of every slice of naan except the one at the bottom that was soft from condensation. Very bummed out by the Stale Naan and I will be taking a break from here for now. read more

Yes, Goat! Not something we usually see on menus or in stores for that matter, but I have to say it was delicious! I expected it to be a bit gamey tasting but it wasn't. My only word of caution is to "be careful of bones". We ordered Tiki Masala Chicken, Goat Curry and Tandoori Chicken. I was Informed Basmati rice came with the entrees so we didn't order any but it really wasn't enough for three of us so I should have ordered extra. We ran out after first servings and I had to use leftover steamed rice from my fridge. We also ordered "garlic naan" bread but I did t taste a lot of garlic, maybe I just like a lot!... Next time I will skip the Tandoori chicken since was the most expensive and my least favorite. also the portion wasn't worth the price imo, but I would go there just to get the Tiki Masala Chicken again! I think maybe lunchtime would be a good and a better value since I noticed specials for lunchtime posted in the window. There are tables if you want to eat there too but the place is small... This place is inexpensive for sure. Parking is easy. Ambiance is casual. And seating doesn't seem to be a problem because they don't seem to busy. With that being said.... the food is bland. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE FOR INDIAN FOOD!!?!? except for the samosa that I had was soooo spicy I couldn't finish it. The service here is completely non existent. Someone will take your order and bring you food. They are going to set a pitcher of water on your table so you don't bother them. The food and service were both very good. I had the chicken tikka masala and my fiance' had the lamb curry. The lamb had lots of large chunks and he said it was delicious (I don't care for lamb). Checked out Punjab Express today due to a co-worker recommending the place to me. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. I was expecting to be seated but I assumed that you have to seat yourself which is fine. Sat down was greeted kindly and given the menus. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken and Lamb Chops and for appetizers Samosa Chanaa, Pakora Mix and Garlic Naan and every food item was cooked well to order. Very delicious food. I mean it's a hole in the wall with very little space for dining but the food is affordable and tasty. Their paneer pakora is my favorite thing ever. You'll be missing out if you dont try it.
