5 stars - always! Mother India Cuisine never misses. This is hands-down my favorite meal of the month and my go-to order every time. The chicken tikka masala is rich, perfectly spiced, and consistently comforting. The 1/2 order of tandoori chicken is incredibly flavorful and juicy with that classic smoky char. I always add the saag paneer, which is creamy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor--one of the best I've had. Everything pairs perfectly with the fluffy rice and warm, buttery garlic naan (a must). The samosas are crisp and delicious, and I really appreciate being able to swap for two sides of mint chutney instead of tamarind--such a great touch. And don't skip the masala chai--it's cozy, aromatic, and the perfect finish to the meal. Consistently delicious, generous portions, and clearly made with care. First time ever leaving here very disappointed. I eat here every few months for years. Their Indian food is my favorite in the Valley. I love their butter chicken and chana masala. This is an amendment to my previous review. Today I called to place an order, and since GrubHub was offering a 35% discount, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I completely forgot how fast GrubHub can screw up an order. After placing the order online, I realized that I didn't need it as fast as the default setting was going to have it delivered, so I called Mother India only to get a person on the line who seemed not to have any idea what I was talking about, (asking my name three times). He then handed the phone to someone whose only response was "Call GrubHub" and he hung up. Before I could do that, I got the following text: Dave hey friend, since no one local was willing to accept the delivery for your order, during this rush/peak hour for a long-distance delivery, I ended up accepting it. I drove from Ripon to Ceres to come pick up your order. They just handed me order. Omw to you to Modesto. To which I asked "Who is this?" not realizing it was the driver. His next message was "Almost there, five more minutes of driving" Then I got the following message, "Hi, Grubhub here. We're sorry but something went wrong & we had to cancel your Mother India Cuisine order. We've refunded your order & sent an email with additional details." It seems that an nearby street was closed but three others led right to my house. I know we older folks like to say "this generation as a rule are not problem solvers," mostly because it is true. He couldn't figure out how to go one street over and complete the delivery. My response to GrubHub was: "What went wrong was that your driver couldn't figure out how to navigate a closed street. When your rep called, I let her listen to all the cars and trucks passing by my house. Your driver just blew a $20 tip." I even offered to send pictures of them as they drove by. I texted back to the driver, "I am out front." Then, "GrubHub said you told them that you couldn't get here, funny, I let them listen to all the cars and trucks going right by my house when they called. I was holding a $20 tip for you when you arrived. You are quite a businessman." By the way, the "35% discount" was $10 on $73.36, which is NOT 35%. I will call and replace the order directly and pick it up. Why miss out on good Indian Food because GrubHub can't deliver? GrubHub in the future? You can keep your $5 nuisance credit. read more

Took my teenage son to experience Indian food for the first time here. We read the reviews on Yelp (which we always do) and they were pretty promising. Well, I'm gladly going to say we will definitely be back. He loved the food so much and so did I. We ordered butter chicken, chicken korma (mild), and garlic Naan. 6/19/24 My day started with me rushing out the door and forgetting my leftovers/lunch. It was 12:30pm my usual pangs for lunch started getting louder and louder. Great. Just great. I look through my desk and all I find is a dried out cookie, crumbs and oatmeal. I decided to order delivery. I wanted indian food. I ordered from a place close by since Mother India Cuisine is in Ceres and I did not want to trouble the driver with such a distance!.. I ordered from a nearby indian restaurant. 20 min after I ordered I received a cancellation notice of my order. Put a damper on my day... That was disappointing. But then realize that their may be hope and brightness at the end of the tunnel! So I go back to Yelp and decided to try my favorite Mother India Cuisine...even if its far away... I would make it worth it for the driver. I order my go to food and say a prayer to make sure its deliverable to my address. It is! My order goes through. 30 minutes later I receive it. Hot, accurate...delicious!!! I take my first bite and my eyes roll back. Mother India Cuisine thank you! You always come through! And a side note to those that order from their favorite restaurant and its far--- tip well...at least 20%. One of these days I will eat at the restaurant. I have never been inside the restaurant...but if its anything like the quality I recive from take out I am sure the eat in will be phenomenal! what is my typical delivery order: Tandoori Chicken - I save this for dinner. Garlic Naan - gotta have this! its a requirement! Tadka Dal - its a yellow lentils, perfectly paired with rice Aloo Gobi - delicious curry of potatoes and cauliflower, nice and spicy Rice - I believe there is little bits of cumin in this...I love it! Samosa - I believe the samosa comes with two little containers of a dipping sauce..the green stuff is my favorite. I would order extra but I am not sure what its called. If I were to offer one suggestion to the restaurant is to make a better description of their entrees. I have built by ordering items from trial and error. These are my favorite. Love this place. Yes I go too many times per month but that's because it's close to my job, the food is nice n quick. Tasty and affordable. Their garlic Naan is awesome and I love their samosas with garbanzo beans on top! I tend to order the potato and cauliflower dish with vegetable biyrani. I'm a vegetarian so I cannot help out with the meat dishes but I've tried most of the non-meat items. Oh and their portions are bug enough to have leftovers for a day or two depending on your order. It is located in a strip mall by several other restaurants, but is strictly a take out location at this point. We ordered the spinach paneer, butter chicken, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala and a chicken and rice dish that the name escapes me at the moment. Anyway between the two of us our bill was over $80. The portions were extremely small, maybe 8oz. with very little chicken. They were mostly sauce. The chicken curry had five small pieces and that was it. The food was delicious but we are all waking up with extremely bad stomach aches. We have never had this experience from other Indian restaurants and if it was just me, I wouldn't be writing this but my whole family has an issue except my one son that didn't eat any of it. read more

I went here based upon the high star recommendations on Yelp and from someone I personally know who said it was really good. My expectations were very high and I wanted it to be great. Our experience did fall a bit short. Upon arriving, the first thing that I was taken back by was that this is not a dine in restaurant, it is for carryout or delivery only. The interior looked like it was under construction which was not a good sign. Normally, I would just leave a nd not order as I hate take out and I prefer to sit down to eat. My son absolutely wanted to try it, so we stayed. The woman who took our order was very friendly and the pricing seemed reasonable. We ordered our food, then asked how long it would take to be ready. She told us 20 minutes. We went back to sit in our vehicle and wait for our food. Once our food was ready, we opted to eat in our car so that we would be eating the food hot and fresh. The food was packaged well and was still pretty hot. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was decent, but it lacked any spice even though I asked for medium. The chicken they used was very good quality, but again it lacked any real flavor or spice. The rice was as expected and excellent, no faults there. The plain nan was exactly that, plain! It lacked any flavor and was an odd density compared to other nan I have eaten. Not bad, but not great either. The vegetable Samosas were excellent. They are on the spicier side, so if you are a wimp with spices, they might not be to your liking. Overall, Mother India represented a good value for the portion size and the service was friendly. The taste though just wasn't what we expected or hoped it to be. My son was far more critical than I and stated that he would rather eat at other sit down Indian restaurants than come back here. Today I had called in a mobile order, I had gotten butter chicken with garlic naan and tandoori roti. I first drove about 20 miles and spent pretty close to $100. Firstly the food was absolutely disgusting. The chicken had disgusting smell to it and the garlic naan was hard. The tandoori roti was super chewy and it was stretchy like gum. The tandoori roti was also dipped in oil. My fingers got extremely oily after just from picking it up. Secondly We called in to the restaurant with our issue and the employee who answered the phone, I believe his name was Jassa. he was absolutely rude and did not know the difference between tandoori roti and plain naan. He basically had given us just a plain naan instead of tandoori roti. He doesn't know how to speak to customers with respect. read more
