I'm never disappointed when I come here. I've been coming here for years. From lunch break to random walks, I always stop by.

We stopped here to have dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. It's a popular place for that reason since it's right across the street. It's super casual with quick service. Your order is taken at the counter, and your food is brought to you. There's inside dining as well as a good-sized patio. We each ordered our own pizza which was cut into 6 slices. We had the Margherita, and the Calabrese Pizza. Both were good. I would have liked more basil on the Margherita, but all-in-all, the pizzas were good.

If you find yourself at the Kennedy Center or Watergate Hotel, this is one of the best food options in the immediate area. Many yelpers complain about the high priced yet underwhelming food offerings on the rooftop of the Kennedy Center and their café. Here the food is much better priced and the service is quick and attentive. You can come up to the counter and get some grab and go items, including gelato, or sit and order one of their menu options. Definitely recommend their fresh made pizza. Great spot to dine in without paying a ridiculous price. Plenty of alcoholic drinks on the menu and parking garage in the immediate area. If you sit outside, you can expect some sparrows and squirrels looking expectantly for a treat. Check out the informative photos to get you through the door.

We were planning to attend a matinee show at the Kennedy Center. I found a blog article recommending Tazza Cafe over the in house KC restaurants. It is literally right across the street. There is parking in the Watergate complex building within steps of the restaurant, which is cheaper & quicker to exit than the KC lots. At Tazza, you walk up to the counter to place your order and pay, and they give you a table marker for when they bring out your food. It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to eat outside. The menu provided lots of choices, and they serve breakfast until 2:00 pm on weekends. We ordered the salmon and green apple salad, which was quite tasty. It is served in a toasted tortilla shell bowl. This place is low key. It is not inexpensive, but we had a very nice experience.

I really enjoyed this spot and I will definitely return. It is just steps from the Kennedy Center. It's a fairly fast restaurant and that you order and find your seat. The food comes to you. I had the warm apple salad with salmon and the salmon was exactly what I needed. Followed up with gelato. I appreciated the service where I ordered. A surface professional there was excellent.- she gave me great advice. I paid in advance for the gelato. She remembered me and I was able to make it an Affogato with decaf coffee and it was amazing. We had about an hour to dine - which is generally very tight - but we were right on time without being rushed- Check it out for yourself !!

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday at 12:30pm. Sat outside and it was not too busy but it wasn't dead either. I ordered the Southwestern Chicken Caesar salad, for here. After 30min it arrived in a a plastic to-go container with a single little cup of half-full dressing. It looked nothing like any of the pictures I saw online. I asked for the manager who asked "what can I do to fix this?" I said comp it so I can come back and have a proper experience here. He laughed and said he'd have to get the owner. The owner came out and asked me the same question. I gave him the same response--he shook his head and offered me gelato, or coffee--no man! So all in all, poor experience--with an opportunity to fix it but total refusal to. Had I. It been waiting 35min at that point, I would have been ok with a remake--but alas, nothij

A wonderful place to get dinner before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center. The Cafe is literally right next to the Kennedy Center and has very filling meals to keep you feeling full throughout the whole night. You order inside at the register and then pick a seat anywhere. They bring you your food once it's ready. It was a beautiful night so my friend and I chose to sit outside. We heard a loud bang that scared us nearly to death. For whatever reason there was a spontaneous firework show so we were treated to dinner and a show! I ordered the chicken and avocado Cobb salad. I don't eat dairy so I opted for a lemon vinaigrette instead of the ranch. The salad was a massive portion and everything tasted very fresh. The meals are a little pricey but it's in a great, quiet location and the portion sizes justify the price.

Delicious selection. Who could choose just one?

DC area is so spoiled with this chain of amazing cafes. The ingredients of the chicken salad is so clean. Everything we had was flavorful and just delicious.

Tried this place during Cherry Blossom Festival! Oh mannn!! Food was pretty good and outdoor seating area was AMAZING!!! Loved that European vibe! It was in such a nice location to feel that breeze Really loved lamb skewer. It was tender and not too gamey!! The only downside is it takes pretty long to get food. It took about 20-30mins to get our food . But overall service was great

That said... the mosquitoes were absolutely relentless I got eaten alive. Our server actually offered us bug spray, which I appreciated, but eventually we admitted defeat and moved inside. We ordered off the happy hour menu and basically worked our way through every appetizer, along with the pandora cocktail. The Brussels were SO good, but my absolute favorite was the burger. Honestly, it was substantial enough to feel like an entree. The bread was also really good. Our server could not have been better. He brought my daughter a little cake at the end since her birthday was coming up, which was such a sweet touch and made the whole experience feel extra special. Inside, the decor is super modern and the music was definitely vibing, but not obnoxiously loud. We were able to have a full conversation without yelling across the table, which honestly can be surprisingly hard to find at a trendy DC restaurant. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Ala. Standouts: the Fehleq (fruity, citrusy, perfectly balanced with tequila), Batata Hara (some of the best potatoes I've had -- harissa-seasoned, garlic sauce, huge portion, 10/10), and the Basturma Pide (fluffy flatbread, pesto, cured beef). The Garides shrimp was smaller but still delicious -- fire-kissed flavor, cooked just right. Great spot for a meetup. Will be back!

For entrees, would recommend Loup de Mer au Fenouil (whole branzino) and La Paella de Cassoulet (confit duck leg)--both wonderful dishes, flavorful and huge portions, but note, it's more on the salty side so if you're a savory person like myself, it was delicious! Upon being seated in a gorgeous booth- we realized we couldn't hear each other as a bday party of 12 people were set up in the center of the restaurant... and they were LOUD... it was so unpleasant I had to ask for a manager. Come to learn - multiple other tables had complained as well.... They offered us another table but it was not conducive for an intimate feeling... so we risked staying hoping they'd wrap it up. The manager was lovely and poured us 4 glasses of prosecco as an apology. The food is spectacular- lots of incredible seafood options included in the 3 course $65 RW menu and not one smell of fishy-ness. The sauces and execution are truly delicious- I've lived in the Mediterranean and in France and this is the real deal. Tons of gluten free dairy options which is so amazing. Service was nice and pleasant - not mind blowing. The manager also comped an additional incredible desert and I appreciated that. By the time we got our check at 9:45, another table of 10 was seated at the center of restaurant... and the noise level started to ratchet up. I looked at our check and realized the extra desert that was comped was actually charged to us ... and it was a $22 desert... obviously asked for a refund which they obliged. The establishment is a year old and I think it's having a small identity crisis still - it's stunning inside with an elegant feel and some people dressed in an impeccably classy manner ... and others ... dressed as though they're headed to the club or a pop concert... by no means should a restaurant with such elevated dining where apps are $20 plus and entrees $40 plus feel like you're having to yell at your dinner companions at 7:30pm. Perhaps they need two seatings & advertise that from 9:30pm onwards large parties and noise levels will exponentially increase .. We may still go back since it meets a lot of our dietary needs with upscale flavors- but I hope they figure out with the ambiance !

We always had pita, they were quick to check in on us, and overall the service was great! Food-wise, there were some HUGE standouts. The red pepper walnut dip is a MUST. It's a little sweet, a little tangy, and super flavorful overall. The hummus was also delicious, with a sorta woodsy, smoky depth of flavor. The oyster mushrooms, though, were an absolute standout. SO much umami, really well seasoned, and perfectly cooked -- they genuinely tasted like steak. Amazing, amazing dish. The vegetables were also really well done overall. The fire-roasted asparagus was great, and the sweet potato was perfect. The cauliflower was also amazing, although we ordered so much food that we weren't able to finish everything and had to take some home. If you're choosing vegetables, do the sweet potato and the mushrooms, hands down. The carrot havuc was yummy as well, more mild and yogurt-y, and the pickled veggies were really interesting. I had never had a pickled tomato before! The pomegranate mocktail was also delicious. Gingery, well balanced, and very refreshing. HIGHLY recommend. There were a couple dishes that fell a little short for me. The halloumi comes out VERY hot, so be careful lol, but it was veryyy sesame-forward and ultimately wasn't my favorite. It was good, just not something I'd necessarily reorder. The saffron couscous was also not a huge hit around the table. It wasn't bad, just a little too sweet with the raisins and not 100% there for me. My mom liked it more than I did! Overall, you can tell everyone at Maydan believes in the food and really cares about the experience. We were celebrating my brother's birthday, and Haley even brought out a little champagne toast :,). I will absolutely be back!

The tomato panzanella was okay but the tomato could have been more ripe. I'd heard about the focaccia but something was off when we went--something was very clearly missing, maybe salt, and it just tasted like a pretty dense vehicle for oil. They change the focaccia seasonally and may have just been having a bad day so I'd try it again but it was not great. The gnocchi was very good and very filling. The chicken was good, and the dill lemon sauce was nice. The desserts were all good--the phyllo cheesecake with peaches, a chocolate pudding, and a cheese plate with blue cheese and a Pennsylvania pecorino. Two of us tried the Hermes drink first and unfortunately it was very underwhelming. It tasted like slightly alcoholic water, but didn't have much flavor.
