    Matcha latte hot sweetened
    Andrea L.

I stop here every time I'm traveling up the 395. Their matcha is the best and I don't say that lightly. The matcha is perfectly frothed and tastes delish. It's not too thin and not too thick. I get mine sweetened and it's not too sweet, it's truly perfectly balanced. I could go on and on, but it's hard to find a good matcha and theirs is the best. Tried the salted chocolate chip cookie this morning and WOW. Delicious. Highly recommend this place as a pit stop on your way on the 395!

A café in a bookstore! A dream! Very yummy breakfast. The coffee was really good and I like that their syrups are made in house! Had an array of cookies too, wish I would have given them a try.

Their tuna salad sandwich is a work of art. The tuna salad is fresh and tasty with small portions lots of added ingredients. The lettuce is always fresh and green. The multigrain bread outstanding. They sell halves or wholes. I'm trying to cut back and only eat a half, but it's just impossible. And for dessert: get a well done Belgian waffle.

Things to buy here for sure while you're there: - Pull Apart Bread - 8/10: different variations, but all sweet, gooey, decadent. It's like the traditional cinnamon roll's raunchy cousin. - Pastrami sandwich - 10/10: good lord this is delicious. Easily top 5 sandwiches I've ever had. Hefty and filling for sure. The meat isn't your run-of-the-mill, dry, salty pastrami that you'll get at your local deli. They use premium naval cuts that are lightly seasoned, juicy, fatty, and super tender. The Swiss is also soft and spongy, very similar to mozzarella. You'd be satisfied just eating this by itself. And the rye bread is artisinal elite level, as expected. Freshly baked and super soft. So damn good I nearly SCHAT my pants!! - Original Sheepherder Bread - 8.5/10: 100-plus year-old recipe. Tried and true. Great for sandwiches or even just toasted with whatever spread that floats your boat. Versatile and superb. Another thing to note: this place is fully staffed and they have their stuff together. So ordering and getting your stuff goes pretty fast even with the long lines. Super efficient, friendly staff and establishment. A great time was had by all.

We travel through Bishop once or twice a year. We know the Schat's bakery gets all the love, but…read morethe Roadhouse?? Yes please!!! Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch on our journey home after a quick trip to Disneyland the day prior. It's a long drive, so Bishop is about halfway to home. We don't like traveling with leftovers, so we often share a meal. Yesterday was the Bluey Armstrong burger with a side of the garlic Parmesan fries. The burger was great! Juicy, cooked to perfection, and so flavorful. But the fries? For the love of all that's good those fries sent me on a trip straight to heaven. I wouldn't say I'm a fry snob, but I do know what I like, and these were possibly the best garlic parm fries I've ever had. So much so that I told my hubby I'd recommend going on a 6 hour girls' trip just for the fries. (My gal pals and I do weird trips for stuff like this.) Long story short(ish) stop here for food. You will be saying "get in my belly" with the only regret that it isn't closer to your home. Unless you live in Bisho, in which case you are a lucky person.

The burger had an excellent, super-crunchy bun, and it stayed firm and didn't get soggy. It tasted homemade, but it was definitely a little too fatty for me. The patty was well-seasoned and juicy, and the other components were good, though I wasn't a big fan of the sauce--it was a bit too salty. The fries were amazing--really crunchy and well-seasoned. Service was good, and the ambiance was nice overall.
