Great find close to our hotel. Lots of options but we went straight for the bionico. The very nice lady chopped all the fruits fresh, nothing frozen or unripe. The crema wasn't cloying or syrupy, just enough to dress the fruit (and be a drinkable treat at the end after mixing with the juice). I've had dozens of bionicos over the years and I can tell this one was made with care using fruits of many different textures, not just thrown together. Didn't get a chance to try the other items since we're passing through, but I'm sure they're legit. Give them a try. Your temporal lobe (and other brain structures) will thank you. read more

Come in and enjoy fresh scooped ice cream, raspados with homemade syrups, tostilocos, elotes, esquites, fresh fruit cups, and much more! Our favorite is the mango loco which is bowl filled with mango, cucumber, jicama, peanuts, and Mexican candy dressed with chamoy, Tajín, and fresh squeezed lime juice. Another favorite of ours are the raspados especially the tamarindo with lechera and the vainilla with lechera flatbed ones. You can never go wrong with a mangoneada which is a raspado with fresh mango syrup, chamoy and Mexican candy. You can't go wrong stopping by here for a refreshing treat. I really wanted to like this place. When I went, there was only an old lady working at the counter and the food seemed authentic. However price was not marked on their menu on the wall and there's no actual menu. We got one food item, some equites, some drinks, and ended up paying $57 which was more than I expected. Because we needed to split the bill so I went on Yelp to look for a photo of the menu with prices and found one posted 3 years ago. All the items we ordered only sum to $35 according to prices on their menu. So either prices went up by 50% past couple years or prices were just random for people who don't speak Spanish ‍ read more

I automatically trust most fruterías where i hear the sound of chopping the moment I walk in. want fresh fruit/veggies in your order? that chopping let's you know. I ordered esquites and a chamango. there was ample corn, mayo, cheese and chile in a giant Styrofoam cup, and it brought me back to the flavors and eloteros of my youth (corn always tastes better on the side of the street). I didn't even know if I had room for the chamango, but I'm a warrior, so my stomach and I powered through. being that it's winter, I recognized that the mango wasn't going to be spectacular. needless to say, my craving was quenched. they didn't serve any agua frescas, also due to winter. just have some esquites; corn is yummy year round. read more

While the lines are half an hour long at Erick Schat's around the corner, the best-kept secret in Bishop is this authentic mother-and-daughter shop. Stop by on your way to or from Mammoth for: 1. Elote (corn on the cob slathered in crema, cotija, and chili powder) 2. Horchata (delicious rice milk and cinnamon drink) So much more, but these are musts and were favorites with our party. read more

On a hot day, you gotta come here. The shrimp ceviche is so tasty and refreshing. Ice cream, Mexican fruit paletas (popsicles), and many other goodies with chopped fruit. The horchata is some of the best I've had... sweet, but not too sweet. The esquite (corn in a cup with yummy stuff thrown in) is also quite good. This place is awesome! It has all the typical Mexican treats you can think of done right. Aguas frescas, raspados, licuados, tostilocos, etc. We ordered a duro preparado which has pork skins, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, cheese and avocado, all on a giant duro, delicious and it was definitely a shareable snack. We also had a Chamango which is mango, chili powder, chamoy and a tamarind covered straw. The prices are good. A little tough to find because they don't have a sign yet but don't pass it up! read more

This place was a little hard to find but worth it. It's one block off of the main drag and didn't have a lit up sign. They had a frozen yogurt machine with your choice of toppings. Yogurt machine had three main flavors with a touch screen to select a dozen others. This was one of the only places to get a treat at night in Bishop. read more

The lady that is always working is the sweetest lady ever. She's adorable and is literally like everyone's auntie, or so you would wish. I come in here and hold up her line to order everything on the menu and she is so patient and lets me get extra japanese peanuts in my tostilocos. The bionicos are probably the best I've had from out here to the ones in San Fernando Valley. Legit mexican snacks! Raspados yum! The duro preparado yum! Elotes legit! Esquites legit!
