She asked if my senior dog had been boarded before and I said yes, explaining that I travel around the country and board my dogs quarterly and send them to daycare monthly. She was clear that they have phased out accepting senior dogs who haven't been their clients. She also said I needed several days of daycare to assess temperament. It sounds like there may be some disconnects between this company's policies and what their reps say. This can probably be remedied with some training. We started taking him to Kaitlyn a few years ago, and it's one of the best decisions we've made. She always returns him in beautiful condition, looking so handsome and smelling great. She treats him with the utmost care, as if he were her own, and she always does an excellent job with his lion cut. Before finding The Grooming Box, we had tried another mobile groomer at a comparable price point, and even with two people in the van working on him, the results weren't nearly as good. The difference in quality and detail with Kaitlyn is night and day. I've recommended The Grooming Box to friends and co-workers in the area, and everyone has had wonderful experiences with nothing but positive things to say about Kaitlyn and the other groomers. The staff who answer the phone are polite, professional, and easy to work with, and the quality of care and grooming is unbeatable. When you search for cat grooming in my home city of Pawtucket, they are the first ones that come up. When I called to confirm that they also specialize in cat grooming, they said they did. I wanted to give small business a chance, and not keep bringing my beloved kitty to PetCo. Well, I'll be going back to PetCo, I guess. Not having a place to keep cats at all and no way to deal with them on the premises whatsoever, they kept my cat locked up in his cat carrier for 1.5 hours before even trying to groom him. We know this because 1.5 hours after we dropped him off, they called to say that they could not begin grooming him because he was not cooperating. Of course he wasn't. They had just left him in a tiny cat carrier for an hour and a half. We felt leary about leaving him there when they said to just leave him in the completely abandoned front room, where no staff at all was, in his cat carrier, and to just come and get him later. But we thought maybe we were being overprotective, and we did leave him. We now wish we never had, and feel really guilty for subjecting our cat to Puppy LaPeu's absolutely horrendous treatment. Really, we should have known to never ever trust these people when they couldn't even get their stuff together enough to have their correct address on their own website (or in any of their online business listings). They are not at 91 Power Road as their website says. They have moved to Smithfield Avenue. They did not inform us of this on the phone when we made an appointment. If it had not been for the wonders of smart phones and the ability to look their number up on the internet when their business location was not where their own website said it was, we never would have found them. When I made the appt for my Maine Coon to be groomed i was informed he would be bathed and brushed,…read moreears cleaned, nails trimmed and he would be shaved into a "lion's cut" as per the description of the full service grooming package i was booked and ultimately paid for. Upon drop off i was told everything from the back of his front legs all the way to his sanitary area would be shaved. I agreed and thanked her for the explanation. When I arrived to pick him up i paid for the full service BEFORE they brought him upstairs to me, my mistake. When we arrived home i noted he smelled nice and clean and his ears were visibly cleaner, other than that you could not tell he had been to the groomers! His fur was still very lengthy on his entire belly from the back of his from legs all the way to his sanitary area. He had not been trimmed let alone shaved what so ever. I called to inquire and clarify the expected services and was told he was shaved and if i wasn't satisfied with it to bring him back in. I certainly was not about to bring him back after being charged $164.50 simply out of fear of what he may look like the next time after I had made the complaint. I am happy to read to many people have had positive experiences with this establishment, unfortunately I am NOT one of them. I feel as though they set the expectations for me two separate times, both on the phone and in person and I paid the full price for services that were not in fact completed.
