We get daily report cards, see photos on the facebook page, the staff all get to know the pup's personalities and names, pickup and dropoff is super easy, and my puppy is so excited every time we get there. Our very first interaction was great...his energy was wonderful...he did not disappoint! He was very methodical with his approach...explaining every step of the process...very engaging...constant updates of the Boyz progress...videos, photos...wait! The photos that I received were Ahhhhhhh-mazing, I mean impressive...only to learn that he's a photographer as well...but I digress. The Boyz are spoiled and I have no shame in stating this...*smile*. But they needed to learn manners. I have two large and very strong Standard Poodles - Mr. Brown and Max. They're extremely smart, pretty obedient in the house, but a huge challenge on walks...my poor dog walker. I wanted to be able to take them anywhere without the extended conversations of sit, stay, what are you doing? you know better... etc. At any rate, I'd been following OLK9 Maryland for some time online. I knew that training for two dogs was going to be a budget buster. Thankfully, I was able to take advantage of the "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" (can't remember which one it was). I cannot say enough about the great experience I had...the Boyz were happy to see Craig each day which was a HUGE relief for me. Yes, additional work/training on my part is required...to me that's a no brainer. As a responsible pet owner, I want to make sure that there is consistency and an expectation that my Boyz are well behaved and well mannered. Which means I have to do the work. Funny, as I was driving home from our final session, I was so tempted to take them on a short walk because I knew it would be enjoyable. But decided to wait until morning... I'm so excited to be able to have an enjoyable walk with these guys... less scolding and more bonding. Well worth the time and financial commitment. I wasted over $1,000 to unknowingly abuse my dog through Off Leash K9. I sought help because my dog…read morewas reactive toward other dogs, loud vehicles, and people. I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

I got my dog only a few months ago and work was sending me on a business trip. I was SO concerned…read moreabout where to board her cause I've heard all the horror stories. I knew this was the place to board my Coco when other dogs were coming in tails wagging and smiling instead of seeming terrified like other boarding places. I LOVE that they take photos everyday and upload them to Facebook so you can see your baby and what they're doing. Anytime I need to board my dog she will be going here. Honestly- just look at her smiles here!

-Our GSD was not brushed out as well as he has been in the past…read more -I never got a call when our dogs were ready for pickup. -During drop off, I let them know that our GSD will bite through his leash and to please let everyone know. In the past, they've only used our leash to bring them back and forth to the front and not during grooming. However, today they decided to use our leash during the grooming process and he bit through it. I then verified that my warning about the leash was never communicated to the staff. The owner was then called and they stated, "nothing can be done." One of the employees could tell I was frustrated and then offered one of their grooming leashes which is for a small dog and would not be appropriate for our 90 pound GSD. I just thought it was interesting that "nothing could be done" for a customer that has been going there for years and has used both their boarding and grooming services without any prior issues, has referred plenty of customers to their business, and made sure to warn them prior to the appointment but the staff failed to pass the message along.

After searching online and taking recommendations from friends, I contacted Premier about their…read morethree-week board and train program for our bernedoodle puppy. When talking with them, they recommended their puppy orientation (which is more like a tailored training session to cover general information and whatever you specifically want to talk about), the cost of which goes towards the bootcamp, so you aren't losing anything in taking the class. I was already going to proceed with the bootcamp, but after our session, I was even more excited for our pup to go. Jessi worked with our 14-week puppy for just about two hours, during which time she made huge strides in her "leave it" and in walking and jumping. Jessi gave me easy tips that I used the next day on a walk, and it was like a night and day experience in getting her to heel. I can't wait for her to attend her bootcamp. Another huge perk to this location (and something I specifically wanted when searching for locations) is they also do general overnight boarding, where they will keep up her training. You can even leave notes about specific concerns if you did their bootcamp with them. They are also so so close to BWI, which is great for us in planning boarding. It's also really not far from DC (just over 30 minutes) for anyone in the District!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Premier. My family had been loyal customers for…read more13 years, and over the years we trusted Premier with all three of our dogs and even recommended the facility to friends and family. Unfortunately, our most recent experience with my dog completely changed that. My dog stayed at Premier for approximately two and a half weeks while I was out of the country. When I emailed to check on him, I received a generic response that gave me little confidence that the person responding actually knew how he was doing. I specifically requested a photo or video of him, but never received one. I was also told they would try to post a video of him doing remedial training on Instagram, but that never happened. When I brought him home, his behavior was noticeably different. He came home approximately seven pounds lighter and was absolutely ravenous for several days. He also began having accidents in the house, something he had never done--not even as a puppy. I also noticed silver/metal marks on his teeth that, given everything else, made me concerned that he may have been repeatedly chewing on or trying to get out of his enclosure. I understand that my dog can be difficult with new people and may require extra patience. I have always been upfront about that, and Premier was aware of his needs. That is precisely why I trusted a facility that presents itself as experienced in caring for dogs to provide him with the appropriate attention and care. What is most upsetting is that I never received a meaningful explanation for what happened. After returning home, I reached out to Premier to ask questions, express my concerns, and request information about my dog's care, including how he was housed, fed, and monitored and whether any concerns about his behavior, eating, weight, or attempts to escape had been documented. Premier did not respond to my concerns or provide the explanation I requested. After 13 years of loyalty, this experience has fundamentally changed my view of Premier. I trusted them with a member of my family, and I am deeply disappointed by the care he received and by the lack of communication afterward. We will no longer use Premier, and I cannot recommend them based on our most recent experience.

I adopted the most wonderful 13 year old boxer/pitbull mix from one of our great local shelters. I…read morewas her third home (which I still can't comprehend why) and she had pretty bad general anxiety and separation anxiety. Given her size and anxiety, I knew I would need some help. I was given a business card for East Coast Academy of Dog Training. The best recommendation ever. Initially, Paige was unmanageable on a leash. Her fear and anxiety caused her to be hyper reactive to wildlife, sounds, sudden movements. She would not respond to commands and she pulled me wherever she wanted to go. The first time Rob walked into my house, the whole energy changed. Rob has the most wonderful voice. He is soft-spoken. He never raises his voice. He has endless patience. Paige loved him from the first moment. For the first several visits, we worked inside on basic behaviors - come, sit, wait, etc. Paige caught on pretty quickly. So did I! It was as much about me learning as it was Paige. Rob always leaves detailed notes covering the lessons of the day. And consistent practice between visits is paramount. Then we began working on leash training for walks. Rob has given me valuable tools to make walks a positive experience for both Paige and I. We are still a work in progress and, weather permitting, I make a point of walking every day. Paige is so much happier and so much calmer. After 5 visits, I kept telling Rob that I needed more training. In his wonderful, calm way, he said that I didn't need more. My sister is away on vacation and needed her cat picked up from the pet hotel because she wasn't eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom. The staff were incredibly patient and helpful as they assisted my husband with getting her out. It took about 30 minutes! They even let us borrow a carrier to transport her to my sister's house. While I waited for my husband to retrieve the cat, I perused the store. Pets have a good life! They are truly treated like royalty. I saw toys, premium treats, beautiful habitats, and even Halloween costumes. In addition to dog and cat boarding, other amenities include a grooming salon, veterinary care through in-store third-party clinics, dog daycare, and dog training. The store was organized, clean, and well stocked, and the staff were very helpful. In my next life, I want to be reincarnated as a house pet.

I dropped my 1 year old small Chihuahua mixed dog at PetHotel for 10 days and she came home…read morelethargic. When we picked her up, they could not find her bed or food we provided. Finally, they came out with her bed and blanket but said they couldn't find her food. When asked, the guy at the desk said he called someone who had been taking care of our dog and said the wet food was given twice a day to help my dog poop. If that's the case, then they didn't feed my dog for at least 2 days. When we got her home, all she wanted was to eat and sleep. She wasn't her playful self. Now, when she walks for a few minutes, all she wants to do is curl up for hugs and to sleep. They said they gave her a probiotic to help her poop but I'm beginning to think she couldn't poop because she hadn't eaten. During her stay, she lost 1 pound and for a dog that wasn't quite 8 pounds, this is extremely dangerous. Also, when we picked her up at noon, they said she hadn't had her morning walk. Who doesn't walk a dog in the morning? Another thing that is not acceptable is the fact that they made changes from day camp to 1-1 time, so my dog was left alone for most of the day. They made these changes without contacting me or the emergency contact. They barely made an attempt to socialize with my dog, did not take her for walks, lost/misplaced her food and bed, and gave her a probiotic without any consultation or approval. On top of everything, they charged me more than what was expected and now I have to take my dog to the vet because something happened while she was there and after speaking with the veterinarian, they need to see her as soon as possible. I will never take my dog here, again, and will tell everyone to stay away from this place.
