This was my second time here, and I had another really nice experience. My friend ordered the mussels and a margarita, and I tried mussels for the first time. They were surprisingly good, "soft," and flavorful. I can see why people order them. I was so impressed by how well seasoned they were, lol. I ordered the chicken bites and a lemon drop martini, which is my favorite!! The chicken bites were so delicious as well. It was cooked perfectly! The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. It feels comfortable, warm, and inviting, with a layout that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for drinks. We loved our meal at Maura's Kitchen this past weekend. The vibe is casual and relaxed with friendly servers with smiles. They easily created cocktails for us that are not the norm these days (Sidecar, Tom Collins, Old Fashioned) and they came out great. The guacamole was unbelievably delicious. Our meals were devoured because they were all so good. I got the Hangar Steak and the texture, temperature and taste were perfection. Others had the Lomo Saltado and raved. I was at Maura's on Friday 8/8/2025. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a very pleasant bartender. I ordered Maura's ceviche and was delighted!!! I have had ceviche from a number of places and actually make my own. This ceviche was superb. Sometimes the flavors and acidity can be very intense. This was very well balanced. I liked it so much that I decided to go back on Sunday 8/10/2025, to see if I still felt the same about it. I was not disappointed. I will be making this place a regular stop. However we were told that there is only a half chicken available. Very disappointing that on a Saturday night at 7 their signature dish, which was the reason we were there is not available. We all got other choices except one person was able to snag the last half chicken. Every dish appeared to be ok and enjoyable but not something I would travel to have again. I can understand the missing chicken situation. Things happen. Missing delivery etc. However I did get a chance to taste the one half chicken available, and to my surprise I swear the seasoning of Goya Adobe seasoning that you get at the supermarket. I have gone for lunch, been there for dinner, and most recently hosted an event. The food is so fresh and flavorful. The service is attentive and friendly. The restaurant is immaculately, clean and has such a great vibe. It is very affordable to dine there, the quality and portions of the food for the amount each dish cost on the menu , you cannot beat. I have recently hosted a party there of 60 people. My guest and myself were extremely happy I could not find one thing that we were not 100% satisfied with. Maura ,Tyrone, and staff outdid themselves. This is by far the best Peruvian restaurant I've ever gone to. I don't like huge portions of food and this place served a great amount of food. I also had their frozé. The place is very big and could probably accommodate parties. Went back another time, but this time with our super picky parents and for a busy Saturday night dinner. This place did not disappoint! We went ahead with our go-to cocktails-- the pineapple spice and everything nice & Coco con blueberry. We started off with the ceviche mixto which was yummy as always and spicy as per our request :) We then braved it and ordered one of the specials on the menu called "we have the meats". Oh My Goodness! Everything on this plate was delicious-- the meats were moist and seasoned to perfection, so we cleared the whole plate. Naturally ;) also, the best plantains I've had since my trip to South America! Next up, were the chicken chaufa, shrimp macho pasta and the seafood paella. I would give everything a 5 out of 5... Except for the paella. If you're a seafood paella lover, I wouldn't recommend this dish. All in all, this was a wonderful dinner! Excellent choices and specials. Just did Tapas and it didn't disappoint. Best ceviche I ever had. Tacos, soft shell really good. Also had the guacamole with nice substantial chips . Empanadas nice and crispy with good amount of pork inside. They did have choices of meat but we chose the pork and it didn't disappoint, nice spicy dipping sauce with that Last ,but not least the drinks were so good with lovely presentation . The food and drinks here are outstanding. To start I tried a Spicy Margarita Peru and for food we got the ceviche sampler, chicken bites, and macho pasta with shrimp. The margarita had the perfect amount of spice and was salted with tajin (or something similar). Delicious citrusy flavor. Got the ceviche spicy as well and again, the spiciness was perfect for the dish. The seafood wasn't chewy and the fish was good quality. The chicken bites were essentially just nuggets with no breading, but they were covered in a tasty sesame sauce. The pasta was amazing! Would definitely recommend the macho pasta. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the ample sauce was creamy and spicy. The asparagus chunks are a good touch. Wow! This spot makes the best Ceviche I've had in a quite a while. The friendly service and all the staff at this place made our experience worthwhile. We had a platter of mixed Ceviche mild and my mouth was on fire! So if you don't like hot food don't order it hot. The only shortcoming was that they didn't serve it with something crunchy like fried plantains or crackers. But it was delicious nonetheless so I will give them a pass on that. I was there for the street fair which was incredible. So many vendors it was awesome to see all the people out and about without a care in the world. Meh ... salt measure way more than I'm used too especially in a Lomo dish which already has soy sauce. Fries were great however they weren't on top of the rice. Not an expert of Peruvian cuisine but have eaten a LOT of it - always have had the fries on the rice. The shrimp - here's the rub - overcooked, salty and small albeit fresh. We also had chicken lomo that was so salty it was inedible. Something is off with the salty measures of the food. We also had baby back ribs. They fell off the bone however outside of the bbq sauce - meat itself wasn't seasoned much. Not a huge issue as the meat was good. Just a highlight that the flavoring at this place needs some attention. The service was great however I'd probably not return. read more

I know people love Maura's but every time I go I think: meh. We ordered the guacamole and they give you maybe 1/4 cup of guacamole with about 60 chips. I wish I had taken a picture. I had the white sangria, hubby had the margarita made with mezcal. Both were good. Hubby had the arroz con mariscos and enjoyed it. The little and I shares the Chicken Chaufa and it was underwhelming and the flavor profile wasn't my favorite. It was hubby's birthday so we ordered dessert: brownie with ice cream. I came here by chance in the afternoon Labor Day weekend so it was not busy. The Nyack, Tarrytown, Piermont New York area has some very good restaurants and is a relaxing area to visit about an hour from Brooklyn depending on traffic. The restaurant was very open and as it was light out so it was missing the ambiance you get at night. Sounds like a fun place at night as they have music or events often. Overall I want to say the food was great. There are some minor things I will mention later I would do if I was the owner of the restaurant. The waitress was accommodating and came over right away. I tried the winter sangria which had more of a rich wine taste. It was good although I would probably try something different if I cone bacWe had the empanadas they offer beef, chicken and vegetable. As you get 3 I ordered one of each. Ordered the shrimp tacos and mahi mahi tacos. Sampled the yuca fries which had an amazing dipping sauce of spicy guacamole that was different from anything I've had before. The fries were good but nothing special. The tacos were great all the food had a real nice flavor. The portions were large in comparison to other Peruvian restaurants I've eaten in. I could not find the entree on the online menu although it was great. It was Peruvian rice, potato's with sauce and shrimps and scallops. You get a good amount of shrimps and scallops so you can consider sharing entrees. The only thing negative I could say and want to point out to the owners are that they should paint the wall that divides the bar and the main room. There are scuff marks and digs from the chairs. Maybe install some kind of ship lap or brick so that won't keep happening. I would also have napkins or paper towels in the bathroom and have it a little nicer. Even if you are super picky like me I think you would have a good time. I would definitely recommend Maura's Kitchen. I saw a few negative reviews posted and I would tell everyone that it could happen although I doubt very much the food could ever be inconsistent based on the different dishes we ordered. August 11th, came back and the food was great, we had the shrimp tacos, crab cakes Yucca fries and a coconut margarita. The restaurant was packed as it was a beautiful summer day. They had a DJ. The only disappointment which was a small one was that the comments I made 11 months ago in my initial review were never acted on. Coincidently I was seated at the same table as last time with the same scuffs and dig marks on the wall. There were still no paper towels in the bathroom just the air dryers. I really thought they would fix that as they made a comment about it. I would not stop going there although it does bother me. I still think it's a fun place with great food! read more

I loved the fried rice (Chaufa) with shrimp. Delicious! The ceviche is fresh and just the right amount of acid. We also had both their chicken and beef empanadas. My favorite is the beef! Let me start off by saying this is not a review of the food but the overall experience. I really wanted to give them a pass but we will likely not return. Was thrilled to get accommodated for a last minute reservation at 2 PM on Mother's Day and told the full menu would be available in addition to their special holiday menu but that was short lived. I will not gripe on each little thing. The staff was busy and kind, but the restaurant/kitchen was not prepared to handle the volume of people. We didn't get our food until nearly 4 PM and were not given anything during that wait. We had to ask for something to hold us over (Peruvian fried corn) and we bought chips across the street. There was an up charge of $6 per menu item which was told to us by the waitstaff. She apologized for the front of house not letting us know sooner. To top it off gratuity of 20% was included. (Is 15-18% not the customary add for groups?) We paid almost $400 in all - while there was one apology by the waitress for the delay, any comped dessert or drink or app or one of the $6 charges would've been a welcome acknowledgment. The table behind us who had a longer wait and bigger party complained and the manager or whoever he was - basically said I'm sorry that's on us. But that's it. Like what???? Food was good, so I'm giving the 2 stars but not worth that whole ordeal IMO. read more

I don't think I ever would've sat inside because it is so plain and kind of uninviting for dinner. And the second reason is because it was very expensive and when I got my paella, the seafood tasted very fishy. I did not get sick, and I ate a lot of it, but you don't want seafood to taste fishy. Went here to eat for the first time after only having had one of their yummy alcoholic slushies at a Nyack Street Fair a while back. I really liked the atmosphere. I ate outside but went inside a few times and it had a nice simple laid-back vibe. I had the hanger steak sandwich with garlic-cilantro fries which was really yummy. My server was Bridgette, and she was really sweet and attentive yet also gave me plenty of time to enjoy my meal and after lunch cocktail. Speaking of which, Bridgette not only nailed the suggestion of the passion fruit margarita for my after meal treat, but as she was also bartending, made an absolutely delicious drink. First and foremost I must say the location of this restaurant is very attractive. I recently went to visit this place this past Friday night was very pleased with my overall experience. When I walked in the atmosphere and the scenery was perfectly lit for a mellow experience. The bartender took care of me for my whole time there. I can't remember his name but he was an African American male that was in pretty good shape. He created a cucumber sangria that I highly recommend to all customers that like to drink. The presentation and taste of this drink definitely had me wanting more. My main dish was baked chicken with yucca fries and mixed vegetables. The red pepper aioli sauce was something I needed to take home for my future home cooked meals. Lastly I finished my meal off with warm bread pudding. Great taste and I wish the portion size was bigger but it was still a great eat overall. Definitely will give this place a 10/10 for my overall experience. I 100% percent loved the food at this establishment. It would have gotten 5 starts but the service was not the best. The waitress was a little standoffish and didnt really attend to our table. Stopped by here for a dinner with some friends after reading some awesome reviews. We arrived and found parking on the street nearby. And walked over to Maura's Kitchen. I will say the front sign above the restaurant was a little difficult to read and you could miss it if you weren't paying attention. We walked in and was immediately seated. The menus were available through a QR code that was on the table. We started with some drinks and had ordered a sangria. It was delicious and refreshing. We started with some appetizers and picked the empanadas with the option of 3 and we picked the vegetarian, beef, and chicken. They were brought our fairly quickly and was served with a creamy dipping sauce. We then selected our entrees, I had ordered the half chicken and it was served with 2 sides, I had picked the yuca fries and chaufa. My sister had ordered the mahi mahi which was served with yuca fries, rice, and shrimp. Our food arrived and I was surprised at the size of the entree...the helpings were very generous. The chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. The yuca fries were fried and then coated with garlic and cilantro. The chaufa was a Peruvian fried rice and had various vegetables. Overall it was a delicious meal. Had some traditional Peruvian dishes. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent and our waiter was attentive to our needs. Such vibrant fresh mixture with corn and sweet potatoes perfect amount of acid. For main we ordered shrimp and scallops with fried rice with roasted potatoes that had a cheese sauce over them. Shrimp were nice and fresh. Scallops were more steamed then grilled and the tails were left on and sandy. Rice was great. Also ordered fish tacos which were prepared perfectly and was so fresh and had a nice mix.That came with Yuca fries with garlic and cilantro were tasty but some were underdone. We had to try a dessert . We ordered a coffee brownie with a homemade Peru ice cream. Brownie was ok more like a cake. Ice cream was great. This is a fun place with a great menu.
