Pupusa time is worth a visit but unfortunately fell short for me. I ordered a 2 pupusa combo with revuelta and carne de res. Out of the 2, I think the carne was my favorite as I could taste more of the filling flavor. The salsa was good but I think the curtido could have used longer fermenting to give it a little more tang. The combo comes with a small side of rice and beans. Both had good flavors but the rice was cold and the beans were too thin for my liking. The beans had more of the consistency of a thin soup which I was expecting more of a chowder. The staff was friendly in greeting and taking my order. Service is slow but expected as good pupusas take time. My issue for my first time visiting was figuring out their system. I wasn't sure if they bring you a check or you go to the register when you're done. At the end of my meal I waited quite a bit after finishing my meal to see if they'd bring a check to me but ultimately just went up to the register after I felt like I sat there longer than I felt comfortable and just wanted to head home. I've been eating pupusas for quite a few years now and the two I ordered here did not impress me. I got a bean and cheese, and a chicharron with cheese. The bean and cheese pupusa was alright but the beans seemed strange in both texture and taste. When it came to the chicharron with cheese pupusa, I did not find any pork. The pupusas were the best I've had in the area. 9.5/10 The service was good considering it is New Year's Day and there was only one lady helping everyone. Their pupusas taste great! Me and my girlfriend have been here a couple of times. The staff is really nice, they even ran out the door when my girlfriend forgot her purse at the booth. For example the beans (that accompany the Pupusa #1 plate & the Tostones plate) are soup sauce/consistency- I expected real solid beans not purée. OMG I'm so happy to find Central American food in east county! I ordered carne asada and asked for grilled onions and they said of course. The rice was fantastic and the beans were just like home. So many offerings to choose from multiple kinds of Papusas, fried plantains to some Mexican and Nicaraguan specialties. We were very happy with the beverage options and ordered the Tamarindo juice and Atole (a pineapple apple and cinnamon warm drink. I will definitely go back. If you haven't tried Salvadoran or Nicaraguan food you're in for a treat. Our meals also came with homemade corn tortillas. I will be back! read more

The host was not very friendly either or let us know that their system was down to place the order. After all , the chicharon was overcooked (burnt) and the pupusas were okay .. I have been craving some pupusas for a while now. We decided on this place because it was relatively close. We were greeted nicely by staff and seated quickly. Looking at the menu I was surprised to see that they offer Nicaraguan dishes as well as Salvadoran. After a few minutes, we put our order in. I got two cheese pupusas and a bean/cheese pupusa. My partner got the two pupusa combo that included one chicken pupusa, one pork pupusa accompanied by rice and beans. The food we got was delicious! The masa was not dry, the quality of the ingredients was great and it definitely satisfied our craving. I would give five stars but no one ever came to check on us to see if we needed anything or to give us the check. We ended up having to go ask the front desk if we could pay and for a box. Despite that happening I would still order from this restaurant. The cashier was so lovely and overall staff were very pleasant. read more

The food here is Delicious! First visit with friend, we ordered an appetizer platter to share. Each item had a unique and authentic flavor. The service was excellent and food came quickly. Two weeks later, I called on Saturday night to place an order for a Potluck on Sunday, very last minute. The lady was kind and helpful working with my budget, and we decided on pastelido. The tray of 30 was Ready for pickup at 9 am on Sunday. They added a container of coleslaw and 2 containers of salsa. The dish was a Big Hit and so delicious! I wasn't sure what "papusas" were but knew they were South American so I stopped in after work for a to-go order. They have QR menus (not a fan) but there was a printed menu on the door so I looked at that and came back inside and got the combination plate: a papusa, rice and plantains. I asked for suggestion and was told the beef was good but I also got an extra papusa-cheese and zucchini. Was surprised he said it would be 25 minutes but live around the corner so came back and it was ready. Upacked it when I got home (everything was still piping hot) and discovered there was also a cole slaw and a gespacho soup included. It was odd they were in small ziploc bags instead of a small container, but maybe this is a soft opening and they didn't have everything they needed, so they rolled with it? The cooked items were still piping hot, and incredibly delicious. The rice was so flavorful, the papusas were crispy, yet tender, and the soup and coleslaw were refreshing additions to a very generously portioned meal and about $20 with tip. Only ate half but it made a great breakfast the next day. Looking forward to my next visit and hopefully they will be more "dine in" ready. The yucca con chicharron was ok since they didn't provide the slaw for that particular dish. There's something that's missing. I'm not sure if it's because a not 100% Salvadoran cuisine as it has a Central American menu to it or Mexican:Salvadoran. They have the potential to be top notch and I wish them well.
