We had a craving for Salvadorian food, and this restaurant delivered! We shared a few dishes, starting with the Empanadas de Plátanos con Frijoles and Yuca con Todo. It was my first time trying the empanadas, and while they were tasty, I think I'd prefer them with poliada instead of beans next time. I opted for the Gallina India sopa since I was feeling a bit under the weather. It came with a generous bowl of soup, chicken, handmade tortillas, rice, and a side of veggies. During a vacation in Northern California, I was craving pupusas and was recommended this spot. I must say, for the price, this place is awesome! I had previously purchased pupusas elsewhere for $5 each, and they were small. Here, I ordered three pupusas, and they filled me up completely. I know I will be back. We went to the Richmond location recently. Happy to learn of their convenient Concord location. I was very impressed with their sopas pata! It was unbelievably flavorful! Basically menudo el Salvador style w/o hominy. Sopa de pata is a traditional Salvadoran comfort food of beef feet, tripe, vegetables, and yuca, simmered to create a rich and flavorful broth. The cow's feet, though lacking meat, contribute a distinctive flavor as the bones' marrow and gelatin release into the liquid during simmering. read more

I come here for the pupusas! I give this place a 5/5 for its delicious pupusas. I usually order cheese or beans and cheese and they always taste amazing. The pupusas are a good size and not as expensive as other places. I've also had their Atol de Elote during winter and it is always good! My only problem here is that they sometimes don't answer the home. I have to call several times before someone answers and sometimes they don't pick up. Before trying this spot, I've heard that the best Salvadoran food that one could get in the Bay Area is in San Francisco. At first, I had concerns about the quality of Salvadoran food in Concord, however, I'm glad that I took the chance. On a Tuesday morning, my girl friend and I dined in. As I walked in, I noticed the homey atmosphere of the restaurant. During our visit, the server was a young gentleman. Before ordering the food, we were asked about our drink orders. For our drinks, my girl friend and I opted for horchatas. What sets El Salvador's horchata apart from Mexico's is that Salvadoran horchata contains morro seeds. So, this drink resembled chocolate milk but I was surprised by its natural flavor. Furthermore, we ordered appetizers to share such as Tamal de Elote con Crema and Pasteles with carne. Although the Tamal de Elote aka sweet corn tamales are usually served steamed, I requested "frito" (fried style), and it didn't disappoint! I also loved the pasteles, which are these mini fried meat pies. Next, I ordered Pupusas Revueltas that consisted of pork, beans, and cheese. I loved how the exterior was crispy and not doughy. Additionally, my friend was a fan of the crispy cheese on the edge of the pupusas. Then, the server brought out the last dish which was the Bistec Encebollado. I think the stars of this plate were the meat and the beans. But, I wished the onions were more caramelized since some onion pieces were too overpowering. Besides that, I was pleased with my brunch. Thus, I would return to this spot when I'm in the mood for pupusas and I'm also open to trying the Salvadoran style breakfast on a future visit. read more

I've been going to this location for over a year and there was only one guy who was really nice, not sure what happened to him but come back! They need you. A few weeks ago I called in and they left me on hold for nearly 10 min and never came back to the phone. You can hear the employees laughing and joking around but I guess they were too busy to take my order? Today was my last straw, I ordered 5 pupusas and waited over 40 minutes. While I'm sitting there waiting, they don't even check in with me or at least try to give me a heads up about the wait. I finally walk up to the guy who took my order and asked him how much longer and he told me it's now on the grill and it would take 5 more minutes. I wait 5 minutes and nothing. So I just walked out, if I don't get an update from you, I'm not giving you a heads up that I walked out on my order. Seriously management, please please please take action and train your workers on customer service and organization. There are so many reviews here that address this issue. There's not many places in the East Bay to get good pupusas so we decided to give this place a try. Well, the business itself looks nice not fancy but nice. When we walked in the place was empty. Waitress came over, a teenage girl, not too friendly but we were there for the food. We ordered pupusas. The pupusas revueltas de arroz were not good at all. The chicharrón was not cooked right, too runny. I also ordered beans and cheese pupusas. Very runny beans out of a can. Both lacked a lot of flavor. The curtido was a big jar passed around from table to table. Don't see that too often in the US. The service was bad. The waitress brought over the pupusas in a serving plate but no plates. We figured she couldn't carry so much so we waited. Waited and waited some more until we finally saw her again we asked for plates. She looked surprised that we were asking for plates and asked how many plates we wanted. How many plates?!?!? Well look how many people are sitting down. Odd, but we finally got some plates not matching plates. We ordered some steak and when we asked for a knife again, she was so surprised. I thought maybe she was new but then a group of men came in and she knew them well so she's not new. She never came by to ask us if we needed something. We asked for water and it was room temperature. No ice?!?! In Concord in the summer. Horchata was ok but it didn't taste like Salvadorean horchata or the Mexican kind. Just something pretending to be horchata. This business has potential they play live music on some days and have a nice bar area. Fix those pupusas and give them some flavor. Buy some matching plates and have silverware. Not all customers will want to eat with their hands. At least offer steak knives with the steak dishes. Disappointed customers for sure. My husband had ordered some Pupusas made with shrimp. Or atleast we was under the impression that they would have shrimp in them. Boy we were wrong! His shrimp pupusas were so disgusting and instead of real shrimp they sprinkled shrimp dust inside. We have never tasted such bad food before. We decided not to continue eating the food once we tried it. We left the plates with food on the table. I did go advise the waitress of how bad the food was and I did ask if they were using cheap cheese or cheese that seemed expired? She did let me know that the restaurant had changed to cheaper materials and that is why they pupusas taste different. I am surprised that even after the waitress and the owners to this place are aware that their food taste disgusting after using cheap ingredients that they would still consider to sell it to their customers. Not quite sure where to begin... i hate that my review is solely based on service rather than their food but it honestly makes it very hard to enjoy when the service is HORRIBLE. The first experience was with my father (who is from El Salvador), he and my husband ordered ahead and went to the restaurant to pick up the order. They sat and waited over 40 mins for their order, nothing complicated. It was just 8 pupusas, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Maybe 2-3 tables that were occupied. Incredibly frustrating. The 2nd time, my husband and I actually dined in. The aesthetic allure of this restaurant is the beautiful tropical décor outside that made you feel like you were on vacation.......HOWEVER........the entire time we were there, we were only checked on once and that was to take our order. The waitress/cashier kept ignoring us after she took our order and brought us our food. We needed drink refills and condiments, she literally ignored us and an another table just to fix herself a PLATE...SAT DOWN ACROSS FROM US AND PROCEEDED TO EAT WHILE CUSTOMERS WHERE STILL THERE. There was no one else there and she did not care that any one still needed anything. She took her time. Didn't even look over at us or anyone else in the restaurant. One of the other patrons even voiced loud enough for all to hear, "Am i gonna need to clear my own plates and take them to the kitchen myself?!" She was clearly just as annoyed as her table was loaded with dirty dishes. The waitress didn't even look up. She was so rude and so unprofessional that it really made me never want to come back. This 3rd experience today just sent me over.... I called ahead HOPING that someone else was there to take the order and actually get it taken care of in a decent amount of time. 1st of all.... They answered the phone and after I said I was making an order for pick up they left me on hold for 8 mins while I could literally hear them and understand them speaking in Spanish. They were joking around the entire time, took forever to get back on the line. Mind you... I was ordering on my break time which is only 10 mins. So I spent the entire time holding. My husband gets there and after telling me the order would be ready in 25 mins, he waited an additional 20 while already THERE. He said the restaurant had 2 tables and that was IT. Why the additional 20 min wait? and not to mention how RUDE they are. Will never order from or dine here again. Very disappointing because their pupusas are really good. I am Salvadoran and these pupusas are gross the salsa is watery the curtido is flavorless I used to come here before Covid and they had different cooks servers and owners , now it's just not worth it . This review is for our second visit here today. We first came here not long after it opened and it wasn't so great. But that was then and this is now. We eat Salvadorañian food fairly often, either in San Francisco, Daly City or here in Concord, and we were impressed by the quality of the food. Very tasty! And the portions are generous. Contrary to what we've seen in the older reviews, we found the service to be good. Not the most personable maybe, but attentive with no attitudes. And, to top things off, the music is great. Very festive. Right now, the place has about 30 happy diners eating away, and they all look Salvadorañian to us (my fiance is Ecuadorian). What does that tell you? So there you have it! All I can say is give Bahia de Tequilisco, Concord a try. You will probably really like it! read more

Showed up this morning at 9:15. Door was locked (they supposedly open at 9). Knocked several times until the short girl with the horrible attitude pushed the door open and immediately went back inside. No hello. No good morning. Nothing but a "you're interrupting me" kind of attitude. We stood there waiting to be seated and she just said "any table." I then asked if they had steak and eggs on the menu and she just said "No." Not another word. We walked out then. My wife and I come here for the food and have shrugged off the bad service (not every employee has her crappy attitude). But no more. We're done and will look for other options in the area.
