My heart is broken. I just called and heard that this restaurant is no longer there. There is a new restaurant with the number and took over the location. Why? What happened? Where did they go?? So many questions... Let me tell you why my heart is broken... This place absolutely hands down made the best fish and shrimp tacos I've ever eaten in my life. The flavors were perfect. I've tried fish and shrimp tacos many places searching for a worthy comparison for more than 10 years and have never had a place come close. My mama Mrs.Henessey (RIH) introduced me to this place over 10 years ago and it has been a hidden jewel of the EastBay. Every person I have ever told bout this place agrees it is the best. The hostess/waitress was welcoming and nice. She made good conversation with us, very personable. The service was good and attentive. The food was okay. I ordered a fried fish fillet. It was really good, it was a fresh fry and the fish tasted great. It came with a side of white rice that wasn't great. It tasted dehydrated somehow. I couldn't eat it. We stopped by on our way to the pastry shop next door. The amazing aromas caught me and I had to go in. We met Carlos. Such a beautiful soul, he was kind. He really explained their restaurants top favorites and what they're about. So we went with the fish and shrimp tacos to see which is better. Omg, yeah it was a tie. They were both cooked and fried to perfection. The shrmp was like having little lobsters. The fish with fresco was bomb. AND the green salsa was like Crack. I was drinking it. I had ordered a marlín tostada and it had a bad color and flavor. I expected more for what I paid and it was a simple tostada with tuna. I had called to ask if this was actually marlin and of course they said yes , I had ordered mine to go and didn't open my Togo box until I got home. So me and my friends came here a couple weeks back because everyone raves about their fish/shrimp tacos! We came on a day where it was kinda slow and there weren't very many people. The atmosphere of the restaurant seemed like it had a lot of potential but they just fell kinda short. The guy playing music was good but was playing waaaaayyyy too loud for the small crowd that was there. I couldn't even hear my own friends speaking to me and they were right in front of me! For the food.. it was such a disappointment to say the least. I think their salsa verde was probably the best thing there. Their fish/shrimp tacos were okay but definitely nothing to rave about. The pictures I attached were of the garlic shrimp and rice plate they had. First of all the shrimp barely tasted like garlic, and they added what seemed to be uncooked bacon bits????????????? Me and my guests were so confused?? Nowhere on the menu (that I can remember) even mentioned bacon?? What leaves me to believe it was uncooked is because there was no bacon flavor to the dish at all!!! So it was like did they just throw that on there?? It was really gross. Our bill came out to about $70 something for very mediocre food. We hope we came on just a bad day because their food on Instagram seemed so delicious! But for now, we won't be back soon. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time, unfortunately it was during the Covid Pandemic so II am unable to speak about the dine in atmosphere. What I can speak on is how great the food tasted. I only ordered the avocado ceviche which is perfect for a keto diet. The avocado was large with a good serving of ceviche. This item was good for one person. I was craving fish tacos and I wanted my boyfriend to try these. Hadn't been there in a few years but remembered that the food here was always a hit. SUCH a disappointment!! We walked in and the music was extremely loud. We asked the server (only good about this place, he was a really nice kid.) to turn it down but said management wouldn't let him. Fine we'd deal. I ordered a michelada, and fish tacos. The michelada was legit the worst thing I've ever had. Warm beer with a splash of calmato and pepper!! I got up and asked if they could take it back and I'd settle for a soda. This lady gave me so much attitude and had the audacity to tell me I was wrong for complaining and she was going to charge me anyway! I was in shock she would speak so condescendingly to any customer. I didn't want to make a scene so I retreated back to my table and waited for the tacos. Tacos were ok, a little flavorless and a little too expensive. When the bill came, she still charge me for a drink I did not consume. My whole dinner was ruined. Extremely unwelcoming so I can't speak for the food. I went here with my grandma one day after paying our water bill next door. We started ordering to-go meals for the house and my grandma asked what was good because it was our first time there and she was unprepared. The server rudely responded that she "wouldn't like anything they had" so we just left.. I understand it's an annoying question to be asked but dang. We won't be returning. I've been coming here off and on over the years whenever I was in the area, and I really think it has some underrated things to offer in addition to having good food and reasonable prices. First, so many places use canned ingredients and store bought salsa, and you can really taste when places like this take the time to make things themselves. Second, every taqueria where I live has a very small dining area and you don't even consider them when dining out with friends or family; even if you find space it's not going to be comfortable...and that's not the case here. Plenty of space for even a big group and you're not going to be on top of other tables. Third, everyone can find something here no matter what their tastes are or how they feel about Mexican cuisine. Have a picky toddler in the group? Boom...chicken nuggets and fries. Have a purist with you who wants authentic Mexican seafood? The only question is how much to order. So i have to hit this place up once a month. It's a little pricey for a dive, but the tacos are worth it. I have tried a variety of items here, and its really just all about the tacos. The options between Shrimp, Fish or Gobernado (deep fried marlin) tacos are never a wrong choice. I do not recommend the burritos, nor the Diablo Shrimp (while tasty and spicy, it was just shrimp in a watery sauce with plain rice). The burrito I've had was rice and shrimp with not much flavor, but again that is not what i go there for. So the ceviche is pretty damn good, but the tacos are really what keeps me coming back. I've been for lunch only, but it looks like this place must go off the rails on spanish/mexican music karaoke at night. Would be fun to see the scene on a Friday night! The chips with their meals are standard (they also include saltines) but their tomatillo salsa is f****** awesome! I see some complaints from other posts about poop in the shrimp... That's a vein people. Stop being so sidity. Also, the mother/daughter team (who i assume are mother and daughter, as well as the owners) are some of sweetest business owners i have come across. Not sure who thinks they were rude, but they have been nothing but pleasant and helpful with me and i have been coming to this spot for NINE YEARS. Some people are just pissy little complainers. I had lunch here earlier this wk and decided to stop by here since I was in the area paying bills. That green salsa is very good! I wish the chips were freshly made, but that's okay. I ordered some shrimp ceviche and 3 tacos(2 shrimp and 1 fish) They have a yummy white chipotle sauce that's very delicious! I noticed the menu catered to more seafood than the usual steak and pork etc. I was the only person eating here so I was VERY sceptical. The shrimp in my ceviche was obviously not fresh and so chewy and rubbery. The shrimp in my tacos was so overcooked, but that sauce was what made it good. Fish taco was very good. This place is hidden/tucked in a corner and is a lot larger inside than it appears to be on the out. I had the Shrimp Taco, Marlin Taco, and Fish Taco, in this order is how I rank them. The tortilla is crispy and doesnt fall apart. Seriously though, the Shrimp taco is delicious. This place does have weekly specials, I think Tuesday you buy two tacos and get one half off ($3.25 ea). Thursday's special is fried fish (tilapia). When you eat there they bring you chips and fresh, tomatillo salsa... this salsa tastes like something my mom would have made. Absolutely delicious, had to ask for a refill, she filled the next one to the top, no problem. If you like Mariscos (mexican seafood) then this is the place for you. I used to live in the bay area and this was my spot! its a hole in the wall but if you find it, you will fall in love! The food is authentic Sinaloa style. Shrimp tacos are the best ever! They have the best marlin tacos. And the best Ceviche in the east bay. Its a good spot for seafood-mexican food! I had the Tostada Mixta Ceviche (shrimp, octopus & fish), & Taco de Camaron (shrimp), & Taco Gobonador (Marlin). The Cheviche Tostada Mixta was the best cheviche I've tasted in a long time. Alright so I've never actually eaten here it, but yesterday 04/7/17 I was running some errands in the small shopping center this is located in and I parked right outside this place as I was getting out of my car I saw the waiter putting chips in a small basket with her bare hands then she wiped her hands on her apron and took the chips to a table. When I came back to my car I saw her do it again exact same thing she put the chips in with her hands then wiped them on her apron and taking it to the tables. Never once did I see her go back and wash her hands so this makes me think she handles money and food without washing her hands in between! I just think that is so nasty if i ever considered trying this place out, now I know I will never go there if they do this with their chips I don't even want to imagine how they handle the rest of the food! read more

I've come her ALOT and although I was never a huge fan, I'd go because my boyfriend loved the ceviche, I could get a decent shrimp taco, and they had chips and salsa (tomatillo salsa). The main reasons why I don't like this place: 1) the shrimp are never cleaned (eating poop filled shrimp is not a great experience) 2) they don't serve any beverage that isn't soda, beer, or bottled water for an additional cost 3)The lady, who I'm pretty sure is the owner, was never nice to us, in fact she was sorta rude. You'd think you'd have a different attitude towards your loyal customers that would come in every week 4) this place is like made of concrete; in the winter it's freakin freeeezing and in the summer you're boiling...invest in a heater and a/c please 5) it sometimes can smell awful in there, like stagnant water, maybe it's the turtle pond thing they have in the front, if it is - clean out the dirty water 6) the salsa although it was something I would look forward to, was never consistent. Sometimes it was spot on, sometimes it was spicy as hell, the worst-when it was as salty as the dead sea Now to the present day, my most recent experience involved old shrimp in my taco and in my boyfriends ceviche. The shrimp were so old, they were literally disintegrating in our mouths as we ate them, they didn't even taste like shrimp, it was like dust, so gross. Maybe it was an off day, but honestly I think the quality of this place has gone down severely.
