I brought my Tesla in for a PDR repair after it got a golf-ball dent, and I'm extremely impressed with the service here. The tech worked on the dent and got it out-- it's barely noticeable now. What really stood out to me was Alex's honesty and professionalism. Because he felt it wasn't a perfect repair, he actually refused to charge me and provided it on the house. PUR Offered a competitive quick estimate ($1000) and had me schedule an in person inspection. This was a straightforward front bumper driver side fender scratch on a Mitsubishi Mirage. After getting the car they readjusted their estimate to nearly 3x what was quoted on the phone ($2800). I went somewhere else (Hobart Auto Center). They actually came in $100 under their phone quotation of $1500 and I got the car fixed for $1400. I get that every shop has their costs, and there is a range in estimating, but 3x the original quote is predatory and misleading. If you are needing auto body repairs and want a shop that performs to the highest standards, works with great efficiency of time and effort and with a crew that is unfailingly courteous and helpful, PLUS boasts reasonable rates, then you need look no further. The owner, Alex is a throwback to another time, another work ethic where people were motivated by the pride they take in what they do. When you take your car to PUR Alex takes charge of everything. I had already started working with the insurance people re my car but as soon as Alex was on board he took over dealing with both the insurance companies, rentals, the adjuster, etc. He took over like an experienced maestro getting the maximum return for me, totally understanding how to negotiate everything. I was so relieved to be completely liberated from that process! Simply put, I think Alex is the best. Or, at the least I think you would be hard-pressed to tik ALL the boxes as you can with Alex. I drove from LA to Glendale to use him and I'm sure there are good body shops in LA. But, truthfullly, I would drive lots further were I to need repairs again because the peace of mind one has when working with someone like Alex is unique and well worth a little extra drive. His insistence on superior workmanship, the full-service nature of his shop, his rates and his dedication and honestly...it's the whole package that makes him so unusual. Alex is a gentleman and everything that goes along with it. To be under his care means you need not concern yourself with anything further because he will do the best job he can because it's the right thing to do. PUR is a business, to be sure, and he is very professional. But the interest he takes is personal. I visited his shop enough to know that personal investment wasn't just for me - he's like that with everyone. And that's the nuts and bolts of what I have to say, but if you want further details about my experience, read on! The first time I heard from Alex after leaving my car was several days later somewhere around 9pm - I answered the phone a bit apprehensively, worried that something may have gone array, but he just wanted to go over figures. Evenings, I came to learn is when Alex does his paperwork because his shop (with some 8-10 people?) is so busy during the day. It is not a quirk of nature that his business runs like a well-oiled machine, but because he is nose to the grindstone 6 days a week with long days into the evenings long after his crew has gone home. He runs a tight ship, very organized. Not surprisingly, it is a pleasant environment and one is aware of a genuine humor and camaraderie amongst the crew. Everyone there is always busy and of good spirits. I mention all these things because ultimately, the kind of environment the boss creates is reflected in the kind of work they produce. Perhaps I should mention something about my car. It is a kind of relic, a 2002 430 Lexus convertible and I love it. I informed Alex as much and that I wanted to kick in some extra cash beyond what insurance was paying me for the truck that plowed into it so that it could be restored to something of her former glory. Now, in my mid-70's my intention is to drive it till the end as it's all the car I need. The problem, however is that it had become a bit banged up - a little worse for wear not unlike its owner, but still with a certain spirit. Alex tried to dissuade me ("wouldn't you like to just get the insurance money and buy a newer car?") "Absolutely not!" I answered without hesitation. If you saw my car now you would better understand why I insisted. It is truly beautiful. I get compliments wherever I go. Alex, even if under protest judiciously supervised the thorough painting of every single part, every chrome detail, and fretted about everything including the mechanics - every nuance of my car was addressed. The problem with Alex is that he's a perfectionist #1, and #2, he wants you to leave his shop happy. He cannot help himself - this is hard-wired into his DNA. Because I knew this about Alex right out the gate I tried not to take advantage. He really is a prince among thieves. And I ended up with a beautifully restored car; I hope he is not too vexed for the experience. (He claims not.) Should you be in need of such services I think you would not regret checking him out. If you don't live round the corner, (as I didn't) maybe you would enjoy his proximity to Los Feliz Costco (5 minutes) and appreciate the ease of his uncrowded surroundings and easy parking all of which helped my experience to be convenient in its own way and without stress or rancor. But the main thing I'm left with, in the end is my lovely car. For this I am so grateful to Alex, and consider myself truly fortunate for the smooth process. So I damaged the bumper tip of my car while exiting a parking lot ramp because the angle was higher than normal. I was hoping it was only a scratch at the bottom of the bumper which usually happens to my car since the bumper is lower than average. However, based on the loud bang and scratch that I heard while exiting, it was not the case unfortunately. The tip of my bumper got damaged and needs to be replaced. My heart sank because this might cost a lot to fix. Fortunately, the replacement part didn't cost that much online. Now, I just need someone to install it for me so I used Yelp to search for an "honest" body shop nearby. I saw one close to me (looks honest based on reviews and a 5 star rating), but they wanted to see the car in person even though it's only a small job (removing and replacing the part). I mean, photos should do the trick for a quick estimate. That turned me off, but it's a good thing Yelp will also sent my inquiry to other body shops. Within a few minutes, Alex responded right away. I was surprised because it's already late at night and shops are already closed. He asked me to send him photos and would follow up the next day after he research the part needed. (Even though I already know which part is needed since I did my own research ahead of time.) But since Alex is the professional and I may be wrong, I just waited for his response just to make sure we're on the same page. He pointed at the same part that I was looking at, so this made me feel better. His supplier's part, however, was more expensive than the one I found online - maybe because it's OEM or the original part from Mercedes. The one I found was a 3rd party part, but since this is only a small part of the bumper which I might crash again, it's totally good enough for me. In the meantime, another body shop contacted me from Pomona (Reyes) so I sent him the photos for his evaluation and he quoted me $150 just to install the part (and he said that's the BEST he could do - which means don't ask for a discount). When I asked Alex if he could do the installation only and I'll supply the part, he said okay but didn't know how much to charge (maybe because it's a small job and I know other shops won't even bother with it). So I offered $100 - that seems fairer to me since Reyes was charging $150 just for a quick removal and install. Alex happily agreed and I was equally happy. At this point, I received another late quote - a mobile repair shop called MagicTouch Repairs quoted me $550 to fix the bumper and he will charge more if the part needs to be replaced. WOW! I mean, this guy was advertising that his fees are cheaper than actual body shops. Looks like this guy doesn't even know what he's doing. Just one small part was needed to be replaced and that's it - no paint job, no dent removal. Basically, only Alex got it correctly diagnosed without any add-on and I only sent him photos (no in-person visit required for a quote). So this gave me more confidence that Alex was truly legit (like what other reviewers here mentioned), honest, and more importantly, NOT GREEDY or SHADY. So today was my appointment day (although I messed up on the scheduling), but thankfully Alex still took me in since I don't live close by. After checking my car for a minute, he said NO CHARGE - FREE!!! LIKE WHAT???!!! What a BLESSING! I mean, I read other commenters here getting free service with Alex, but I wasn't expecting to get one as well. The tech person who installed the bumper only took like 5 minutes to do his magic while I waited and watched. Alex and his team are truly amazing - warm, friendly and accommodating (THANK YOU ALEX and TEAM - God bless you!).
