I was genuinely excited to try Pura Brasa. The ambiance was great, and I appreciated the concept of firewood and charcoal cooking. However, a broccoli side dish -- was so aggressively smoky that it was inedible. I politely shared this feedback with our server, who was kind and understanding, but the $8 item was not removed from our bill. What truly shocked me came later -- a response from management that was not only unprofessional but intentionally sarcastic and humiliating. Instead of acknowledging my experience, I was told I should have Googled the meaning of the restaurant's name (as if that excuses serving food that's barely edible), mocked for not understanding their methods, and blamed for not requesting alternate cooking methods before ordering. The message ended with a justification that they couldn't remove the charge because "I have bills and employees to pay." I'm leaving this review not out of spite, but to warn other diners: if you don't enjoy overpowering smoke flavor, or if you expect respectful treatment when giving honest feedback, this may not be the place for you. A business that responds to criticism with personal jabs instead of professionalism is one I won't be returning to. read more

Food was "fine", I make a way better steak and everything was super salty, but for the price should have been excellent +++. The server was too fast, meaning she slammed stuff on the table and when she talked it was a mile a minute and disengaged. It was not overly busy and she just could have cared less. Sooooo again, for the exorbitant prices, should have been way better. It's a shame, we were looking for a great Mexican restaurant close to puyallup. Not worth going there again. This place is Sumner's new hidden gem! I stumbled across this place a few weeks ago just two blocks from my home honestly not expecting much. I was so pleasantly surprised. It was very quaint and cozy with a feel of home inside. The fireplace was going on this cold winders night. I was craving steak and I just didn't feel like cooking. I had the three wagu beef tacos. This was an absolute delight for my tastebuds. I don't know how they did it, but. they managed to turn tacos into a delicacy that I've never had before. These were absolutely delicious! The only thing I could say about them was I needed more! For $29.00 for three street sized tacos I would expect to be completely satiated, but. I was not. I did not receive fantastic service, but, I could see that regulars did. So I will not fault them for that. I ordered churros and icecream for desert. It was very ordinary and unspecial. Again. For the price I expected more, not more desert, just more effort. J ordered Mexican coffee and received a cup of coffee with cream! Be very specific if you want an after dinner cocktail. This place still gets 5 stars from me because those tacos were hands down the best I've ever had, this is coming from a frequent traveler to Mexico. read more

Great food and great Ambiance. Perfect spot for a small get together. Space is small but patio may open that up more when it gets warmer. We made a reservation for 5 and got the big table in the back that seats about 6 people. All of the food was great. We ordered about 10 different items on the menu and nothing disappointed! Frijoles Puercos, Octopus Tacos, Esquite, Vampiros, Chilaquiles Prime, American Wagyu Topsirloin, American Waygu Ribeye, Molletes, Doraditas, Horchata was the best, and finally the churros and ice cream for desert!!!! read more

The food overall was good. Meat on the tacos was definitely over cooked but the tortillas were really good. Service absolutely sucked from the moment we walked in... I ordered a side of rice but turns out they were out of it and brought me Spanish rice instead without mentioning anything beforehand. We really enjoyed it and will be back! The tacos were some of the best we have ever had. I had the dry aged ribeye which was great, nice crust and very flavorful. The sides were huge, the corn side was our favorite. The service was the best part! The entire staff were very nice, refilled waters fast and often. They even brought some free dishes to try, drinks were great, cheesecake was very rich and tasty. The place is small but was very comfortable and not loud, great for a date night. read more

We absolutely love everything about this restaurant. My husband is Mexican and after losing mom he says it reminds him of her. She would have loved authentic food. My husband, myself and our 2 friends attended your establishment 6/19 at 5:30pm for their anniversary dinner that turned out very disappointing. We wanted to surprise them with a new restaurant. After we got seated it took 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table to provide water and menus. Additionally, it took another 15 to get our beverages. And I had to remind our waitress to bring them. We ordered the sausage appetizer, and it was ok. I ordered the Fajitas Prime along with my friend and I could not chew the meat due to how tough it was, so I only ate the rice and tortilla with sour cream. I don't know what Royal Ranch Prime Flap meat is but I won't order that again! She had the same experience. It was extremely disappointing for how much it cost $25!! Her husband had some tacos that he couldn't eat either due to the flavor and he couldn't chew the meat. My husband ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich which was ok except for way too much bread and a bland flavor. The drink my husband and I each ordered was the mojito fresa. These were way too sweet like candy. And for $15! Not again! Our friends that we brought were extremely disappointed at their food and this was their anniversary dinner! It seems it was covered in massive seasoning to hide the taste, and the meat was too tough. If you are charging the prices you are for this food and drink the quality should be much better. Additionally, the service should be top notch as if someone cares. Our waitress was very cold and rude and seemed to have a negative attitude along with being annoyed she had to wait on us. She was not friendly at all, and this is one reason we do not want to go back to your establishment. We wanted to try it because a friend went there and said it was different, and we should try it. Never again!! If you are the owner, you should have cameras or be on site to see how this service and food quality is. We get treated so much better at Hops and Drops and we are never disappointed. At $114 before tip; I don't believe this food is worth it. I did not want to tip our waitress, but we did anyway... $114.74??? I emailed this complaint and have not received a response. I'm not one to usually write reviews but after our first visit last night I felt the need to after reading previous posts. I took my boyfiend there for dinner and the staff was very welcoming from the minute we walked in. It was his bithday and I had reserved on line. Our table was already set and ready for arrival. We ordered the Zabuton with the corn and potato sides and they did not disappoint. Our steak was cooked as we ordered (medium) and the sauces were a welcoming accomodation. The gave him options for a dessert and presented it with a Birthday song free of charge. For those that went after they first opened did you not look at the accomodations before dining, give the staff some grace for working out any quirks upon opening? The food was great! Our party of 6 had steaks, fish tacos and a variety of appetizers which were all really good. The problem is with the wait staff. Our first waitress was very sweet, but seemed unsure and confused. The waitress who delivered our food practically ran by and dumped each dish at the edge of the table, not bothering to serve it to us individually or even tell us which dish belonged to whom. When we inquired with the other waitress as to whose steak was whose, she came back and said "She said she told you." WOW, really? The bartender didn't speak English so that made ordering drinks complicated, and they were incredibly slow to be served. (We ordered margaritas, which were very good, and beer.) The cooks definitely know what they re doing, but for $100 per guest, we should have had decent service. Not sure we will be back, which is too bad. read more

The food was very good but somewhat overpriced. Our party of 6 ordered three steak plates, shrimp tacos, and a burger, along with several appetizers and sides. All dishes were tasty and hot when served. We had reservations on a Friday night at 7 and we called 45 minutes prior to ask if they could accommodate us 30 minutes earlier. They were able to. Now for the downside. The dining area is TINY. They sat us at a 4 top booth and gave us a high stool as an extra seat. It was uncomfortable at best and tho we tried to squeeze a third person into the booth on one side, she kept falling off the end of the seat. We asked for another stool and they eventually brought a lower bench and switched it out with the stool. There was another party who had the same problem - 5 adults at a 4 top booth resulting in one of them perched on a high stool. Ridiculous! Ambiance was okay - a little noisy because the kitchen is open to the dining area. Service was a little slow - we had to ask for our drinks - just bottles of beer - after waiting over 10 minutes. I don't even post reviews as you can tell but this needed one. This place just opened up apparently as we were told. Was looking for a decent steakhouse and this came up with one sole "two star review" so we gave it a chance. Service was the worst part of our experience .. server hit us with the "are you guys ready to order" and literally nothing else pretty much until the food came out. You'd think this being a BRAND NEW steakhouse, there would be more to just that. Backtracking, ordered drinks and the cocktail(s) were disappointing. Steak was okay, literally. You're literally better off at Sonora in Maple Valley or Asadero Prime in Kent. Even Cuerno Bravo in Tacoma. And no... i do not like my steak well-done .. Very small restaurant with no vibes. Gave a diner vibe and like no one was enthusiastic about being there. And given this is at a brand new steakhouse ... I promise, save the trip. This was disappointing. I will start out with the food was good. Our waitress was good. It's a very tiny place not quite what I was expecting. I actually thought it was bigger inside, but it is a cute café style place when you walk in. Service was a little bit lacking, but I believe that's because they were short on kitchen staff. Got to the restaurant at 6pm. The hostess told us it would be a 25 minute wait. So we agreed to wait and after an hour we received a message that our table was getting prepped. We came back and checked in. She apologized for a message getting sent and told us that we still need to wait and that there was 1 person in front of us. There was an open table so I asked what the grace period is on the person in front of us. They do not have one. We waited another 45 minutes before he decided to show up. By the time we were seated it was 2 hours. Not 25 minutes. We all were not hungry anymore and didn't really want to eat at 8pm.
