    Pizza Carbonara

THE BEST VEGAN PLACE IN MADRID. I would give it 6 stars if I could... This is a very nice and relative small place in the Latin zone of the city - the upper floor is well decorated and welcoming. We ordered 2 starters - the 3 samples of eggplant, cauliflower and potatoes, and the croquettes - just give me more!!!! We also had the carbonara pizza which was the best vegan pizza I have ever had! We discovered that the owner is Israeli - so no surprise that the food is so good!! Thank you! We enjoyed every second here!!!

I'm in LOVE! Had a wonderful experience at Pura Vida and would definitely recommend paying them a visit if you're in Madrid. The place is clean, well decorated and has a beautiful atmosphere the food is the best vegan food I've had in Madrid and service was super! We had pizza and ohhh boy it was amazing! Still dreaming of it and will definitely be back with more friends for more delicious vegan eats. Vegan or not you will love every bite !

They probably prefer it that way because the quiet vibe appeared to be part of the ambiance they're seeking here. We just found it by chance on Google Maps as an alternative to the beef-heavy eateries in the neighborhood. We just felt a need to eat healthier. The menu was small and appetizing, and we treated ourselves to two 3,5€ glasses of Zafra Blanco, a crisp Spanish white wine that freshened our palates. We started our meal with a complimentary helping of a "creamy" beetroot dip accompanied by lightly crisped pita chips (Photo 7). Next came the 12€ Spinach and "Parmesan" Croquettes, six lightly fried, falafel-like spheres drizzled with cashew nut mayo (Photo 8). They provided the ideal bites. Jamie went for their signature 15€ Moroccan Bowl with corn couscous, beetroot falafel, sweet potato, spinach, cherries, pickled cucumber, tomato, and fresh dates drizzled with mint yogurt sauce (Photo 6). It was quite a cornucopia of flavors that meshed quite well together with the falafels the particular standout. I decided to go for the 8€ Brochette of "Chicken" with chunks of zucchini and onion and satay sauce over a bed of sweet potato noodles (Photo 9). I'm not sure what the "chicken" was, but the flavor and texture was surprisingly spot-on. At the same time, I'm glad I limited myself to one skewer because I wanted to save room for dessert and the 4€ bottle of sparkling Green Apple Cider (Photo 4). Jamie and I settled on the delightful 6,5€ Tiramisu Cake dusted with Cocoa and swirled with Toffee (Photo 10). We finished our meal with 2€ cups of Cortado with the right amount of warm, steamed milk (Photo 5). FOOD / DRINK - 4 stars...really well-turned vegan fare with no flavor compromises AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...quiet and mellow befitting the food SERVICE - 4 stars...attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely an alternative to consider among Madrid's culinary riches RELATED - Exploring Madrid? We shared the Chickweed, marinated asparagus, breaded artichoke and Romesco sauce appetizer (€9) to start, a wonderfully curated dish with perfectly breaded and fried artichokes (not too oily), impeccably marinated asparagus and some leaves (chickweed), with a fantastic Romesco sauce. Fantastic starter. Then we shared two mains -- the Bolognese Lasagna (€13) and Shimenji Mushooms Long Sandwich (€12.5). The lasagna was extremely decadent, smothered in smoked bechamel sauce -- the inside had seitan, some veggies, a passata (tomato) sauce, and served with some parmesan-like crackers. This was almost a bit too over-the-top, but in small amounts (split between two of us), it worked well. The sandwich was simple but excellent -- wonderfully textured shimenjis carry this dish, along with the vegan garlic mayo, fresh arugula and tomato. The bread was fresh and fluffy too. Very friendly service. Great place to hang out and enjoy a long, leisurely meal. Highly recommended.

Simple, basic, rich yet complex. I had the menu of the day. For just €12.50. For starters, there was a scramble tofu, just so rich in Delicious seasonings. Then for the main course I had grandma's lentils. Hearty and deep. And the Keylime dessert with a cream made of sunflower oil! The drink was watermelon water with cardamom. Give this place a try!

(My American stomach still craves dinner at 7-8ish.) There was only one other table in the place. The restaurant was rather quiet, even with the music playing. What I ordered: I got the Vietnamese plum rolls. They were topped with bean sprouts and red pepper and came with a spicy asian sauce and a small portion of white rice. The flavor of the rolls was delicious! It didn't taste too fruity. It was more of a savory dish. My only complaint is the rice was still a little hard, but it was bearable. This dish was one of the more expensive ones, but it was worth it!

The proprietor spoke a rollicking Spanish accompanied with gestures, so I understood him well enough and followed him to the back. Bypassing the lovely front dining area, I was greeted by a spacious room featuring low seating, bright paintings and ornamentation, and comfortable lighting. I took off my shoes, set them on a shelf, and found a seat to survey the room. There were many decorations, but they didn't clutter. The seats, though low, were quite comfortable. I sat as if I were a lowbent kid inspecting a snail. Yatiri features an a la carte and menu of they day for €11. I went with the latter, ordering Guiso de Lentelas (lentil soup with carrots), Arepa con Berenjena al Graten (arepa topped with eggplant and cheese), and Gelatina de Remolacha (beet jello). The lentils were great, resting at the bottom of their deep bowl. It came with seeded bread, dense, slightly moist. It reminded me of home and my mom's attempted at homemade spelt bread. Then the open faced arepa came. The crunchy corn gave way to a more chewy topping. Dusted with herbs, I enjoyed the eggplant. It was topped with cheese. From the taste, I think it may be faux cheese. The gelatin was the strange one. I didn't know what I ordered and finally looked up remolacha once home. I tried to place the subtle sweetness with that final flavor essence. It makes sense now. Beet! Overall, I had a great time. I want to go back and take some pictures. It seems I found my first blog worthy place in Madrid.
