When I got to the nursery, It look like another mom pops little nursery place from the exterior, but to my surprise, this place appears bigger than the Costco parking lots combined, jammed packed with trees. It can be overwhelming because of the large selections. Every trees appeared to be thriving and healthy, with many already have fruits. The place was big so I was clueless where to begin. Thank God Gio found me. He is so knowledgeable, professional, kind, funny, and has lots of patience to deal with a picky and curious person like me. He takes his time to show me around. I was lucky to try many different selections of fruits, some I can compared to store bought and many I haven't heard of. The fruits you get from the nursery tasted so much different than the store bought one, more fresh and flavorful in my opinions. I ended up buying a couple trees and am looking forward to buy more in the future. This is my new favorite nursery to visit and highly recommend to anybody who wants to buy quality plants from people who know their products well. Their price is decent and candid. The experience from start to finish was refreshing and fun, and thanks to Gio, I walked out feeling happy and confident of my purchase.

I found Jungle Music Palms in a Google search for bromeliads in San Diego. The nursery is only a…read morecouple miles from my home, and I hoped to find a few small scale, shade loving bromeliads. I wandered the garden and finally located the owner in the trailer. Phil asked an employee to show me their bromeliads. I found most of the bromeliads to be very old stock, in terrible condition, and most too large for my space. We finally located what the employee called a small "Casablanca" bromeliad in a reddish hue with white speckles. Of course it was not labeled with ID or price. I was told to go ask Phil for a price. Phil seemed more interested in my contact info and email than actually identifying the specimen. He finally said, "It's a rare bromeliad" (uh oh), and quoted me $70. I was expecting less than half that for a 6" plant. Needless to say, I left without purchasing the bromeliad. I'll try Bird Rock Tropicals next.

This nursery has a wide variety of palms that cannot be bought elsewhere - in this case I have been searching for a brahea decumbens & no where on the internet has it (even seeds are sold out everywhere). For some reason the transaction of acquiring this palm was way more difficult than needed. The first attempt (phone call to Phil, the owner) was made on June 30th, & I was told to call back the first week of July. Then I called July 2nd, & 3rd. I was then told that there wasn't any Brahea Decumbens received & to call in a month. I also was told to check the blog as that is updated daily. So I have been checking the blog daily as instructed & out of the blue (Friday July 25th) I called to check & then was told from Phil "Sorry we sold out 2 weeks ago, we sold out in 3 or 4 days." I then received an email from Jesse who apologized for the frustration of the situation. He went above & beyond to help out by making phone calls & locating a brahea decumbens. The day the delivery came he let me know & sent me a photo of the best palm out of the 4 - 5 they received. I was able to purchase the palm over the phone that same day. Tracking was never emailed which is annoying. This palm wasn't cheap by any means but if you're looking for hard to find palms & surely don't mind paying more, it's may be worth checking here. I am happy with my purchase, however the box wasn't marked to keep it upright so the box was laying on its side when I was able to retrieve it on my doorstep. This could have been avoided by having arrows on the box showing the correct orientation so the UPS driver could place it properly upon delivery. Hopefully Phil can see this review & take into consideration of the customer for areas of improvement.

My family had an unpleasant experience with this vendor at an orchid show at Westminster Mall this…read moreweekend. We were browsing their selections of cymbidium, and my mother saw several that she liked. She told the vendor she would return to purchase in a few minutes. When we came back, another customer rudely cut in front of us to grab a cymbidium which my mother had been considering for purchase. The vendor quickly took the pot in his hands and said, "I don't want a fight," but what it seemed like was that he just wanted to close a sale and not resolve the issue of who should rightfully be able to purchase the orchid. He sold the cymbidium to the woman who cut in front of us. My mother honored her word, but this vendor was too concerned to make a hasty sale to consider basic customer service and a system of first-come, first-served. He lost out on us as customers, and I will be sure to let our family and friends know not to support a business which doesn't operate by common sense and basic moral codes. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I hope that Karl and Miki can take steps to improve their business practices, and perhaps step up to a level of friendliness, honesty, and customer satisfaction like their fellow peers at this orchid show.

Last week I needed a little mulch only and didn't want to order delivery as the Growers mulch is only 10 bucks per yard. My husband and kids went to get a yard of it by bringing huge totes ordered online and then stuffed the totes into our minivan since we don't own a truck. The people there is so nice and accommodating; it took some figuring out but they did it. We are very grateful!

Yes, Marty is a bit quirky and there is no signage indicating where the business is (look for the black mailbox marked 2727) but he is very knowledgeable and has a large variety of plants and trees. I was looking for podocarpus trees which Marty had posted on Craigslist. I didn't realize his business was by appointment only, but he graciously helped me anyway. Since Marty is a grower, he picked out 8 beautiful and well-matched trees from his stock and helped me load them. If you can't find what you are looking for, give Marty a call.
