There's plenty of plants to see and merchandise to buy. Most importantly, it's organized and the plants seem happy. However, the prices aren't the cheapest - I've seen better at other nurseries in the Carlsbad area. I was personally looking for fruit trees and there was a limited amount of varieties to choose from. Overall, I enjoyed walking through the garden center on my way out of the flower fields.

This is located off of Piraeus Street that runs along the Northbound 5fwy. We entered Piraeus from Leucadia Boulevard. The commercial entrance came up first, then the regular customer entrance, thanks to their clear signs. It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday in January, so maybe that's why the nursery lot was kind of empty the further we went in. At the front area though, there were poinsettia trees still in bloom. I didn't even know that they can grow into trees (they don't last very long after the holidays in my care, lol), so I was actually fascinated to see them so big. They also had a fenced area with 2 small goats, possibly pygmy goats...so cute and friendly. Considering the cold weather, they had a good selection of healthy cacti, potted flowers and plants at reasonable prices (i.e., 4" pot of succulent $5.99, 6pk annuals/perennials $4.99). The bigger shrubs like hydrangea and hebe coed were more expensive ($26.99 and $28.99, respectively), but beautifully kept. We had no plans to garden any time soon so didn't plan on buying anything, but ended up getting some plant accessories, including a car-shaped ceramic planter that kiddo really liked, lol. Service was okay. We were the only ones there and took our time browsing, but no one asked if we needed help. The woman at the cash register wasn't rude, but not particularly friendly either.

On a Monday, I bought a large item from Lowe's in Carlsbad. They asked if I wanted it delivered,…read moreand I said I did. We agreed on Saturday between 8 AM and noon. They said "no problem" and happily took my money. I emphasized that i was not available in the afternoon- it must be before noon. I received a text on Wednesday, confirming my delivery. I replied "yes, but it must be before noon." I received a confirmation text. On Friday at 7:21 PM (Eastern time), they sent me a text, saying delivery between 2PM and 6PM on Saturday. I replied "NO, IT MUST BE BEFORE NOON. It texted me back a phone number to call - but they only take calls until 7:00 PM (Eastern time). So they tell you they're going to miss the delivery window after it's too late to contact them [A cowardly move]. I called the store, and they said they couldn't help me, because deliveries are done by a third party. Bottom line: (1) Once Lowe's gets your money, you're on your own, and (2) They'll gladly take your payment for the delivery, but tell you to talk to the hand if there's a problem with delivery. You might think this is not the fault of Lowe's Carlsbad, but that's who took my money, that's who agreed to the delivery window, and that's who blew me off when a problem arose. Moral to the story, don't buy anything from Lowe's, that you can't carry yourself.
