The store is beautiful but I had an unfortunate experience this evening. I went in to buy a freezer, and the young man in this department was waiting on a lady looking in washing machines. I waited over 20 minutes close by and he would not leave her side long enough to literally sell us the freezer. He needs to learn to multitask, when you are the only one working in a department . You can not let a customer wait that long! He need to break away and let her know you'll be back! We were finally able to get another young man who happened to be "passing by" to check us out or we'd probably still be waiting for the young man to acknowledge us. read more

On a Monday, I bought a large item from Lowe's in Carlsbad. They asked if I wanted it delivered, and I said I did. We agreed on Saturday between 8 AM and noon. They said "no problem" and happily took my money. I emphasized that i was not available in the afternoon- it must be before noon. I received a text on Wednesday, confirming my delivery. I replied "yes, but it must be before noon." I received a confirmation text. On Friday at 7:21 PM (Eastern time), they sent me a text, saying delivery between 2PM and 6PM on Saturday. I replied "NO, IT MUST BE BEFORE NOON. It texted me back a phone number to call - but they only take calls until 7:00 PM (Eastern time). So they tell you they're going to miss the delivery window after it's too late to contact them [A cowardly move]. I called the store, and they said they couldn't help me, because deliveries are done by a third party. Bottom line: (1) Once Lowe's gets your money, you're on your own, and (2) They'll gladly take your payment for the delivery, but tell you to talk to the hand if there's a problem with delivery. You might think this is not the fault of Lowe's Carlsbad, but that's who took my money, that's who agreed to the delivery window, and that's who blew me off when a problem arose. Moral to the story, don't buy anything from Lowe's, that you can't carry yourself. read more

I can't believe that the overall rating of this place is a 2.4! I have always had a great experience there. You can always find someone to help you. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and generally upbeat. I purchased a Pella door through Lowe's expecting a straightforward installation. Instead, the process took over 11 months and required the delivery of four different doors before the order was finally completed correctly. The first three doors delivered failed to meet the specifications of the original order. Each incorrect delivery reset the clock, caused additional delays, and required ongoing effort on my part to keep the project moving at all. Communication was inconsistent, and accountability was nonexistent. I escalated the issue and spoke directly with a manager. Unfortunately, escalation did not result in a meaningful solution. The only offer extended was a $300 Lowe's gift card, but only if I agreed to waive the installation warranty. That condition was unacceptable. Customers should not be required to surrender warranty protections to resolve service failures that span nearly a year. Purchased an extended warranty when we bought our dishwasher.Suddenly the machine shares a code saying water tap and shuts down. The repair company Loew's uses has sent the same person out 3 times and he's unable to do the repairs. Each time we call Lowe's repair company they refuse to give us access to a supervisor. I will go to Lowe's Carlsbad this morning and see if they can live up to their contract. I tried working with Lowe's last Friday and still have a broken dishwasher. I called Macias Plumbing, the company that did the original install and left a message asking for help. I couldn't even get a call back. I called Archibald Plumbing, the local company AO Smith required I use for repair work, and was told box stores in general and Lowe's in particular are a colossal pain to work with, and they require homeowners to handle all exchanges. It seems I am not the only one rating this place poorly. I just cannot seem to win with this particular location. Last time, I had a young lady throw my box of MDM material on the floor in front of me. This time, I don't know what to say. My advice, don't buy from this store or buy online and if noted, coming from this location, decline it. I purchased two Bosch dishwashers at about $2,000. I was told delivery people would deliver to my kitchen and haul off my old dishwashers. I even called the store to confirm. One would expect delivery people to at least knock on your door and tell you they have arrived. Instead, they dropped off the dishwashers, in ninja like fashion, in my open garage and to add flavor to this incident, they laid one dishwasher on top of the other (see pic). They didn't bother to knock on my door to notify me, of which they should have as I paid to have the old dishwasher hauled off; They did not do either. So on top of all of that, I now had to manage to get the old dishwashers from the kitchen to the garage down a flight of stairs by myself and then lift the new dishwasher OFF of the top of the other new dishwasher, and then carry to my kitchen, up a flight of stairs... twice for both the old and the new. The finniest part is that one of the old dishwashers was sitting 10 feet from where they dropped the new ones. I called Lowes and the assistant manage was kind enough to call me back, but just said, 'sorry'. He was going to get the old dishwashers hauled off Sunday and try for an earlier day like Saturday. I wasn't offered a coupon for my bad experience or what can we do to make it better or anything. So this is the new expectation from Lowe's. Like my wife says to my kids, you get what you get so don't throw a fit. The only difference is my kids didn't spend $2,000. I will never buy from this location again. My repeated experiences are enough; They have the worst customer service, or lack of, ever. read more

I try to keep an open mind and have generally thought of Lowes and Home Depot as being pretty comparable and interchangeable. But in the last few trips, my opinion has changed. I've needed some basic things like chandelier lightbulbs and I could not find them onsite at Lowes but could later find them at HD. I found the service at Lowes is very good- all the employees seem eager to assist and they have personally walked me to the area where I am looking for something. But it seems the selection is just ok. I would come here for packaged products but would not use it for building supplies, plants or garden supplies. read more

Needed help finding something that would drain the water away from the dirt. I have a pipe that drains from the roof but the water puddles around and makes mud and then it fills up the drainage area. Appalling customer service. They don't own their own problems. I'm shocked these people are still in business given all the other bad reviews. I ordered a water heater from them because they carry the same brand we currently have. The water heater was delivered at 7:45am in a heavily damaged box (see photos). I asked the driver to unpack it before accepting it and, of course, the unit inside was damaged. - first issue: a box in this condition should have never been loaded on the truck in the first place! Basic common sense. Then I called customer service to ask that another unit be delivered today as: 1. we have no hot water and 2. we have an appointment with the plumber the next day at 8am. I spent 55 min with a supervisor at "customer care" who was incapable of helping me. All he did was mumble a rehearsed apology and say that their internal processes don't allow for a re-delivery the same day. The unit will be delivered some time tomorrow. This is absolutely unacceptable. Nobody cares about their internal processes. The Lowe's warehouse is less than 10 minutes away from my house. Lowe's created a problem by delivering an obviously damaged product and they already charged my card for the product. They should fix this right away. I wouldn't care less if this happened with any other product. But we have no hot water and I'm now charged a cancelation fee by the plumber because we're past the 24 hours cancellation window. - Lowe's customer service ("customer care") is incapable of resolving their own problems. The "supervisor" could have easily called the warehouse and have another unit delivered, even at 9pm as far I'm concerned. He didn't even try that. Instead he hid behind whatever non-sensical internal processes, which are clearly made to be convenient to Lowe's and not to the customers. Stay away from Lowe's! read more

This store's customer service has been going steadily downhill. Too many instances to list but today was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was about to buy ONE hex nut and a washer. Since these items aren't big enough to attach a barcode they are coded by a three-letter code which is imprinted right on them. Yesterday, I bought a few more and that's how the cashier was able to pull them up in the system and charge me the sales price. Today, another cashier (I will not name her since I don't want to shame her publicly) couldn't do that even when I pointed out to her where she could pull it off and also told her the price (each were 40 cents) in case she wanted to enter them manually. She refused, she handed them back to me and told me "sorry I can't ring them up"!! I asked her "so, what am I supposed to do"? She replied "go get the barcodes and I will find them that way"... Yeah, right, I (the customer) am going to go back to the bulk aisle and sort through the myriad of screws and washers and find the exact one...nothing like "I am sorry, let me get someone to help" or "here, I will enter the price manually"... If I didn't need these screws desperately I would have simply left. Another guy saw my frustration and offers to help. I asked for a manager and he told he was a supervisor. I explained all of the above and he was embarrassed; he told me apparently she wasn't trained properly. I told him that it's very frustrating for a customer to be refused a sale because the store employee couldn't pull up a price and refused to find an alternate way. This store has very few staff available for help, half of them walk around the store not even wearing a mask or wearing one on their chins while they require you to wear a mask...I think it's time to take my business elsewhere. read more

What a different experience I had at Lowe's, there was a greeter near the front who was asking everyone what they were looking for. I asked one of the staff if they had what I needed, she said she wasn't sure but would show me where it would be. Sure enough, they did and a bunch of other stuff I needed too. She knew where everything was and there were staff walking around saying hi, unlike Home Depot where they staff won't even look at you for fear of being acknowledged or god forbid, being asked a question. I am not one to write a lot of reviews. I work in the service industry and know how difficult bad reviews are. I am very patient, and I understand that one team member or two is not a reflection of the entire store. However, I only encountered ONE helpful, knowledgeable, and proactive team member in this store. (Thanks, PJ, this is not about you) What was supposed to be a 20-minute maximum wait was well over 50 minutes. I came in on a Sunday around 12:30 pm to get some paint and primer for my company (a restaurant with multiple locations in SD). I brought my dog in with me, and while I waited at the paint counter for someone to help me (the paint counter is right across from guest services), no one did. However, two team members came over to give my dog a treat but did not ask me if I needed any help. I finally had them call someone to paint the counter since no one was around to help me. The store was busy, so I waited in case they were busy. Someone finally came to help me, and I took my purchases to the self check out counter. I was going to use apple pay to complete my purchase, but I didn't realize lowe's didn't take Apple Pay. PJ, a team member watching the self-checkout, told me I could place an order online for pick up and check out that way. He said to head back over to guest services, and someone would be there to help me. Even though the team members at this desk were the same ones I had just interacted with while waiting for help at the paint desk, they did not ask me why I was standing at the customer service desk or acknowledge me in any way. However, they did recognize my dog again, which I understand. 20 Minutes later, PJ came over, saw me there, and helped me finish my transaction. But, overall, these team members were terrible, and I could see other customers in the store becoming frustrated. read more

If something doesn't work out, it's easy to return with my receipt. The only thing I haven't had much success with are plants that I've purchased. They don't seem to survive. read more
