To be fair, I'm leaving two stars only because of Arsharel and Nichol -- they are truly amazing instructors who deserve to be teaching at an original Lagree studio, not in this environment. Unfortunately, the trust I once had in this studio was broken. After many of us paid upfront for a full year membership, the owner, Judy, suddenly shifted direction: hiring inexperienced, non-certified trainers, opening a new location, and purchasing copycat machines instead of authentic Lagree equipment. Yes, you read that right -- fake Lagree machines, which are not only unsafe but also disrespectful to long-time clients who believed in the original method and trusted her leadership. The studio also rebranded from "Lagree" to "Modern Pilates," which might be fine for newcomers, but as an original client, I signed up and invested in authentic Lagree training -- not this. There's nothing wrong with Pilates in general, but the issue is the bait-and-switch: we trusted we were paying for true Lagree, with certified trainers and proper equipment. As someone who has always supported and respected my studios, I had no choice but to cancel my membership. It's disappointing to see a place I once believed in lose its integrity. He showed me the machine before class started, how it worked, and how to use it. He was very kind and informative. During the class, he gave clear instructions and assisted as needed. It ended up being quite the workout! I'm really glad I came and tried it out. The prices are a little steep to be attending frequently, but I'm definitely interested in taking drop-in classes in the future.

I first walked into the studio with several sports injuries and an extremely limited idea of what Pilates even was. The owner, Barb, is truly wonderful, and took the time to ask me about what my fitness goals were, what my current issues were, and where I would like Pilates to take me. Talk about caring- you're not going to get that anywhere else! My formerly problematic hamstrings and badly healed rotator cuff injury no longer pain me, thanks to careful and expert instruction at the hands of the Pilates Connection staff. Every instructor is highly trained, really down to earth, and very talented. They want to help you become your best YOU, and not in a cheesy way either: Pilates helps you inside and out. I've become so much more aware of how my body moves, and my flexibility is lightyears better- not to mention the amazing toning and strengthening benefits! Also, there is no judgment at the studio. You don't have to be a fitness buff or a supermodel to fit in like other gyms or studios. I honestly could go on forever about how much I love Pilates Connection. Try it out yourself and see!

I took the beginners class and doing this works outs a different set of muscles than what you'd workout on a regular gym day. This is a class you would take in addition going to the gym but not on the same day. The coach takes their time to explain everything in the beginners class and they coach you through getting into and maintaining proper form. There were a few times I had to stop to take it easy... of course over time, you'll get use to it but it does take some patience, good form, and stamina to do this really well. They recommended taking 3 beginners class to get use to the movements. It's all about balance, maintaining position and using/building your strength... My friend who set up the private lesson has little-to-no dance experience, but I have an extensive background in dance and gymnastics. Anny was able to balance the two of us in a private lesson, and we were both killer sore the next few days. Everyone (who is willing to try and work through a little pain) will have a blast! Who doesn't want to hang around on silks, a lira (hoop), or trapeze? I don't know, because this girl sure does.

Parking on a Saturday morning in Ferndale was shockingly not hard to find, you just have to pay unfortunately. It's not crazy expensive though. The entrance to push pilates is through the back of the building; I only found this out because I followed other people. Everything was already laid out and clean. The instructor checked everybody in individually as they walked in. The HIIT Pilates class was amazingly tough and satisfying. I enjoyed the music and instructor. The only thing I didn't like was a kid younger than 10 being there, and so many late people coming in messing up the flow. The instructor had to keep bringing out more mats and equipment when class already started. So she ended up putting the kiddo on the couch in the back so the late people could have a spot. Not sure if that normally happens but it was definitely a distraction to her and us. I understand 10 minutes being late, maybe even 15 minutes, but after that, I think there needs to be some sort of limitations

They were welcomed by the instructor with open arms and had their first experience working those accessory muscles. If you're looking for a welcoming environment, this appears to be it. The instructor even gave them a certificate to acknowledge their achievement. I am a firm believer in the positive, motivating culture of group fitness, and I think those boys are now, too.
