I started going to the Barre Code in August 2022. Although I was a bit nervous to join those fear immediately left as I was so welcomed by everyone there. I love the variety of classes that they offer and that each teacher has their own unique spin. I typically take the barre and strength training classes and between those two variations I have felt so much stronger than ever before in such a short amount of time. Also, it's super handy that all of the metro detroit locations are under one umbrella which allows me to have even more options as I tend to split my time between Royal Oak and Birmingham's locations. I decided to give this class a try. They do let you have your first session for free. Plus, it's close by to my house. It's an extremely popular class and of course it wad all women and a packed afternoon class too. I guess it hasn't gained in popularity like yoga has with the men, yet. :) It was a good session, interesting for certain. A lot of good techniques on the bar and away from the bar. Obviously lots of exercises with the legs, mixed with all over exercises too. Although the class was interesting and different, it wasn't something I felt I would do with the regularity. Love their different class formats. Barre is classic barre, Brawl is cardiac kickboxing, Strength and bootcamp incorporate weights and are a mix of strength and cardio. Instructors are high energy and provide a great workout! I like that you can visit their different locations too in the same membership! (RO, Bham, RH, and Northville). read more

I was looking for a really good cardio kickboxing type class after the instructor I went to at another gym stopped teaching. I saw an Instagram post from The Barre Code with a video of a class they have called Brawl. I tried it out, and it was a great workout! After class I checked with the front desk for pricing, and they have one month unlimited for new students for $69, so I decided to give it a try. Over the month, I mostly took Brawl classes, which is like a choreographed kickboxing routine which sounds lame, but it's totally fun. Some weren't as challenging as others, but every time it was a good workout. Becuse you're so focused on keeping up with the routine, the class flies by and you're out in no time. I also took a couple Barre and a strength training class, and both of those were good workouts as well. I liked that there were so many classes and that I could use the membership at all studios in the area. The classes are also only 50 minutes, and they always start and end exactly on time. Free parking behind the building is also a plus. Some complaints I saw were that the classes are too packed, but I didn't really get that at all. Some classes are busy, but I never felt like I was too close to other students. What I didn't like is that there is a waitlist for almost every evening and weekend class. I would sign up for a class days in advance and only get in the morning of or the night before if it was a morning class on the weekend. I always got off the waitlist and into class, but it is annoying that you can't plan your schedule for the day until 8 hours before the class is scheduled because you're not sure if you'll get in or not. I also think it is extremely over priced. I would love to continue to take classes, but I'm already a monthly member for yoga so unlimited is not an option. It's $22 for a drop in or they have packs of classes, but they are barely a deal. Ten classes equals out to be $17 a class. It's something I might consider in the future, but I think they would get a lot more students if they dropped the prices a bit or offered deals more often (5 for $50, 3 for $35, etc.). read more

Amazing amazing amazing!!! I was a dancer growing up and love the class setting for workouts and decided to try out the barre code about a year ago. I will admit I was a little unsure about the classes at first, simply because they work muscles you aren't familiar with in ways you've probably never worked them. I was using a 2 pound weight in my first class and it felt like it was 50 pounds. 65 year olds were next to me kicking my but. A year late I feel stronger, healthier, more confident and LOVE every single class they offer! Cannot recommend this studio enough. Every teacher is incredible and pushes you to succeed. I'm thankful to finally find a workout that I love and that makes me confident in my body!!! Covid update: they offer SO many live streamed classes every day and a variety of classes. I'm not comfortable going in person and I've still been able to get my workouts in through a mix of live streams from all over the country and Facebook live videos from metro detroit. read more

Great workout facility different classes for all types of people great times throughout the day every day of the week.

There is literally always a waitlist. If you are able to plan your workouts a week in advance, then this might work for you. Also, when you actually do get into a class, there are way too many people packed into a tiny tiny room. I started going here shortly after they opened this location in 2016 and quickly signed up for the 'unlimited' membership; I now go 4-5 days/week and feel like something's missing on weeks I can't go as often. Compared to other barre studios, I really love the variety of class types. They have the traditional barre-style strength classes, but they also have great cardio classes. I love the Barre Code! The variety of classes make it so great for all your fitness needs ;) There are classes where I don't even sweat but my muscles shake like crazy, and cardio classes where the sweat is dripping...and then some in between.
