I won't lie, I have not been a fan of the coffee, and I've been a few different times. Most recently, I've gotten a mocha, vanilla latte, and a dirty chai. The service is really friendly, so I was sad about it. Also, their new location is cute in the front, but dark and not very aesthetic in the back and the seating was oddly spaced from the tables (at the booths) or not very comfortable. I have only kept going because it's the only local place I know of that is open later than 4.

Bauhaus meet mid-century atmosphere, somewhere between art-deco and industrial.

Quick Tip: Fresh-roasted beans, real espresso strength (four-shot lattes!), and Coltrane on the speakers--Pure Bean brews coffee with both craft and soul. Pure Bean Coffeehouse & Roastery... Fresh roasted, freshly pressed, and unapologetically well caffeinated--Pure Bean is the real deal - 4 shots in a 16oz latte? That's not indulgence, that's integrity. "Theme for Ernie" by Coltrane drifted through the air while the crema settled, and the young baristas moved like they actually care what they're crafting. Bauhaus-meets-mid-century-industrial loft vibe. Not crowded, not empty--perfect. No turntable or fireplace as others alluded, but vinyls on the wall whisper hope. Even a small stage promises future open-mics or mellow sets. Coffee: excellent. Scone: delish. Staff: knowledgeable. Atmosphere: inviting. 4.5 stars feels more right--half a star shy only because perfection should always leave room to breathe (& comes with cushier chairs and more outlets). I'll definitely be back.

I loved the environment, the friendly barista, the quality of latte and banana bread. Went there super early in the morning they had just opened at 7am, was their first customer. I sat there and enjoyed my latte. Had great experience. Highly recommend. FIVE Stars

Located inside an old creamery I love the vibe this place offers. The staff were great and the crafted coffee on point. Plenty of space to sit and chat and plug your phone or laptop in and work or surf the webs.

I love finding local independent coffee shops on my trips. Yelp pointed me to Pure Bean near downtown Rapid City. This is a nice cool coffee shop in a hip part of town. Parking is decent although you may need to park on the street. This place is a nice upscale place to get you coffee and linger. The facility is in an old warehouse with nice windows and an eclectic decor. Pure Bean has a full coffee bar and lots of fresh made treats. Service was what you would expect with a gourmet coffee experience. I had a espresso and a lavender shortbread cookie. Both were delicious but it was nice to just sit and relax with the local cool people for a while. There are two rooms to sit divided by a nice fireplace. Seating is a little hard so lingering may take a strong midwestern body. I visited several places in the area and kept coming back to Pure Bean for the coffee and the experience. They have a few locations in the area, but this downtown one is pure cool and will instantly make you feel better even after a day of sightseeing!

Legit coffee shop I'm downtown Rapid City. + ambiance + signature drinks + cardigan latte - loved the black sea salt! + Cortado with tonic (so legit) + pastries and desserts + super friendly service

I have only had their coffee "shakes", which I would say are an attempt at a Frappucino. They charge more than Starbucks ($5 + tax for a 24 oz!), but are nowhere near as good. They add so much ice to them that you have to poke your straw around and "drink" it a straw full at a time. I usually give up and use a spoon or scrape it put of the cup with the straw. Speaking of the straws: They can't even be bothered with giving one to you. You have to get it out of a jar. They are cheap, skinny and flimsy straws. As i type this, I've been working on my drink so long that I can taste the plastic from the straw. They also don't accept credit/debit cards. Any costs associated with accepting these could certainly be paid for with part of the price of the drink. The one big positive is their baked goods. Cookies and brownies are delicious. However, this is a COFFEE shop, so I am basing my rating solely on the drinks I have had. I would much rather support a local business, as opposed to a national chain, but I'd choose Starbucks over this location any day.

I had a wonderful butterscotch latte and a chocolate chip scone. I don't even like scones generally but this one was fresh out of the oven and delicious. The prices are just right and you can get your coffee and pick up a book to read at the same time. What could be better?
