Dr. Kim and his team are FANTASTIC! If I could give them a 10 star rating, I would. My dad was in a very dire situation with his teeth. He had lost most of his back teeth (upper and lower) and the ones in the front that were remaining were in horrible shape. His lower front teeth were almost all gone due to years of grinding and the upper ones were breaking away one by one. We were in a desperate situation to find a solution other than completely removing his remaining teeth and putting him in complete dentures. With the care, knowledge and talent of Dr. Kim, his assistant Gina, and their lab, my father now has a gorgeous smile and fully functional teeth. Since my dad did not have enough bone mass for implants, Dr. Kim still found a way to create a PERMANENT upper and lower bridge. He also added an extra tooth on the lower set as well as on the upper set. This created an elongated surface that allows my dad to chew food better since he has NO back molar teeth. Dr. Kim, Gina, ad the lab performed a miracle! We can never thank them enough for what they have done. I've included some photos so everyone can see the smile my father now has. He truly looks and feels 20 years younger!!! His confidence is back and he is once again social. Without Pure Dental, my dad would have lost all of his teeth and I know that emotionally, it would have taken away his spirit. We are eternally grateful to have found Dr. Kim and his team. read more

I was assigned Pure Dental in Cahedral City,CA. through my health inusrance plan. I made a appointment for my husband and me in February 2021 for x-rays and a exam. We arrived around 2:30 and after around a 30 minute wait we had our X-rays and than taken back to the exam room. Dr. Kim did the exam on both of us and advised us to to have a cleaning along with a laser procedure which is suppose to help get rid of bacteria at the gum line. When we went up to the front desk the girl told us I had one cavity and my husband had NINE!!! How is this possible since my husband had seen a dentist within the last two months plus we NOT shown the X-rays we were just supposed to take his word for it. I made the appointment for the cleaning which cost $95.00 each since we were having the laser as part of the cleaning. Again when we were there my husband asked for a treatment plan for his fillings which never happen. It was not until April when I had my cavity filled Dr., Kim agreed to show my husband the X-ways. When my husband tried to ask questions Dr. Kim became very upset and would only say that they all needed to be done. Yes, my husband was very upset and a little lould but I think anyone would be since all Dr. Kim wanted to do was justify ALL the cavities had to filled even the VERY small ones. Since we are seniors NOT all small cavities have to filled. You can take a wait and see approach.. In addtion to this my filling that he did fill broke within a week and I had to have it filled agaiin. I also asked for both of our X-rays be sent to me by e-mail and I signed the release form and told I would receive the X-rays wthin 2 days! It took a phone call to my insurance company to finally receive the X-rays!! I do not trust a dentist who will not answer your questions.!! Plus what was his hiding by NOT showing us the X-rays??? Had the worst experience with the office girls. My 88 year old mom had a Ryder added to insurance to cover her bill but they would not accept it. They made us pay full price until they had full proof. This is after being their customer for over 3 years. No trust. No help. No compassion. the dentist is good but the personality of wall paper. The Ryder was in place. Still no help then they billed insurance with wrong codes so I have never been able to be reimbursed. It's so sad. Complete lack of help for an elderly woman who lives on SS only. I will never go back. Find another dental office. There are many around. read more

I was a very reluctant patient- haven't seen a dentist in years and years due to a childhood trauma with my dentist as a child. My experience at Pure dental has been a refreshing and terrific experience. Everyone is professional and friendly. They understand that a dentist visit isn't on the top of most people's list of favourite things to do! I was impressed with the Doctors calming approach and professionalism. About a 15 months ago I had a full set of dentures made through Pure Dental. I was sold a premium version being told they were better than the standard version. Since then I have had 4 teeth fall out and 2 cracks in the upper plate. When asked why this was happening I was told there was no reason. The first 3 teeth were repaired at no charge but there was no solution offered to prevent any more teeth falling out. That was 4 months ago and another tooth has just fallen out. I need to find a dentist that can solve this problem and stop it from ever happening again. BTW The office staff is great! read more

I have pretty sensitive teeth so going to the dentist was never something I looked forward to doing but since coming to Dr.Kim it has been such a breeze. I have Delta Care ins and was informed that Pure Dental was my dentist. I called and made a appointment and asked how much for a simple extraction, Deloris quoted all extractions are $400.00 I asked how much without and she quoted "Just a Little more". I contacted my ins. carrier and they said $100.00 would be my copay, back to dentist and was impolitely told that the ins co. was wrong. I have visited the office twice in two years. And each time has been the same experiences. As returning patient for routine cleaning and x-rays, the appointment took 1 hour and 15 mins. The front office staff and hygienist was friendly and efficient. Lobby entertainment consists of Netflix and staff does takes request. Dr. Kim seemed a bit unhappy when he walked in seeing me playing with the dental apparatus, I was waiting 20 minutes in the chair. He went to work quickly and completed the work in one sitting. He commented there was a lot tarter and I need to come even six months. I explained I am unemployed. The Dr. Kim recommended a Chlorhexidine Gluconate Oral Rinse to kill bacteria after the cleaning. The wash cost $40.00, but I later learned the same formulas available at drug stores at fraction of the cost. read more

First if I could give zero stars I would. This place double and triple books appointments. My first appointment took 2 hours and that was only for an exam with no cleaning. The dentist tried to up sell me on everything. I reluctantly booked a second appointment for a deep cleaning and was assured that Delores would call the next day to explain costs and what my insurance would cover. No call ever came. I arrived for my second appointment which I purposely booked to be the first of the day so they wouldn't be behind only to find two other people had appointments for the same time. After fifteen minutes of waiting they call another person back. No greeting or acknowledgment by any staff member or even a simple hello. After twenty minutes I got called to the counter to be told that I would need to pay 360.00 for the cleaning and filling they would do that day. I could pay it, that wasn't the issue. The staff was incredibly rude and I walked out. If you have no job and can afford to wait an hour to be seen this is the place for you read more

I think Dr. Kim takes all the time necessary to fix whatever is needed in your mouth. I needed deep cleaning, 2 cavities filled and a crown on a tooth that I thought could not be saved. Dr. Kim did all this in 2 sittings with no pain (and I am the worst dental patient ever!) I have a dental HMO and all one needs to do is make sure BEFORE getti g the work done what the co-pay is, very reasonable for all the work I had done. The front office was very cheery and did call for reminder if my appt. They even did a 3 way conversation with Delta Dental about co-pays! I highly recommend Pure Dental. read more

If you don't have a job or anywhere you need to be, this is the Dentist office for you. I highly recommend if you like not knowing what they'll be charging you the day of your appointment or if you like to listen to gossip. Also if you love sitting then this is forsure the office for you since you'll be sitting there past your appointment time. Had appointment at 8:30 wasn't seen by the dentist until 9:30.. they open at 8 how are they already an hour behind? I saw the dentist for maybe 10 mins at the most so it's very upsetting but also great because I finally got out of there. This is not the first time it's happened to me because I've been going to this dentist since I was a child and always knew how long the office would take so that's my fault for even keeping my appointment. the front office staff was very friendly and helpful. they gave me all the paperwork that i needed to become a patient and there was not that much to feel out. then they took me back for my full mouth x-rays. that was painless as she could make it! the dentist was very knowledgeable and caring! my cleaning was so quick i almost felt like i was going to get an award for cleanest mouth in cathedral city. lol only problem they found was a old filling that was separated from the tooth and i am scheduled to have that fixed on february 13th 2018. read more

My first visit yesterday was pleasant and comfortable. Spacious waiting area allowed for easy social distancing. Clean facilities. Staff were welcoming and efficient. X-rays, doctor consult, and cleaning went smoothly. Dr Kim asked questions and listened to my needs, offering suggestions beyond what my insurance covered (but was clear that those were optional and was very understanding about the current financial impact of the Covid crisis). Got off to rocky start as new patient 1st visit because they had not confirmed their address. A google search day of first visit had at least six websites with office address wrong. This YELP report under the business name Pure Dental shows correct address. However, the YELP report under 'Dong Kim dds' as of this date shows wrong address, outdated 1 year. I was 20 minutes early for appt...at the wrong address. I arrived at the correct address on time, just late for paperwork input. Friendly staff; yet misinterpreted my frustration with Insurance quote direct to me versus their higher quote for my copay on a specific procedure. They seemed to feel I had a beef with them, when I did not. The Insurance web pricing tools are wrong! --------------------------- --------------------------- For a Tues 1:00pm appt, I was not taken to back for 1 hour. No apology or explanation. Front desk had mentioned on arrival 1 staff absence, but no mention of the Doctor being delayed...or explanation that Dr was running late and 'did I need to reschedule?' or to the 2 others in the waiting room. Second visit Thursday 10:00am, though taken back to chair immediately, there was then a 45 minute wait before further contact. Again no explanation given. No staff absences this day. On both visits the Doctor seemed unaware of the backlog as he said nothing to explain that this was normal [or unusual] circumstances, much less an apology. Hopefully the Doctor will review his scheduling guidelines to reduce patient wait time...and/or make sure his staff is showing basic courtesy of explaining to the waiting room patients the reasons and expected time delay. He should be asking staff to keep him apprised of these delays, in my opinion. On second visit I felt treated as a Procedure not a Person. Doctor did not greet me face to face. On 2nd visit, I asked about an initial treatment recommendation for a high priced Resin filling. This Dentist has a personal belief that amalgam fillings are a bad choice, would not use them on himself or his kids, even knowing as we discussed that the ADA still recommends Amalgam fillings, especially for larger cavities and for back teeth. Amalgam is 1/4 the cost of the Resin filling material he prescribed and are generally accepted to last longer. IMHO Dr should have explained this personal POV on the initial visit, not waiting for me to ask about it. It is patient's right to be well informed of treatment alternatives and why Dr recommends one over another, acknowledging it remains the patient's final decision... --------------------------- --------------------------- The most positive thing about this office is that the practice is still small, and at least for now, there is no Hygienist on staff. Cleanings are done by the Doctor, which I prefer tremendously. Dr is more likely to recognize a problem observed during periodic routine cleanings and advise. I have had cleanings elsewhere where I never saw the Dentist on that cleaning visit. This is a true plus in my book for any Dental Practice. read more

Went to Dr. Kim at Pure Dental. What I expected was a wait and charges quoted that were high. This is NOT what I got. The office is easy to find, has adequate parking and modern in style. The front office staff greeted me along with others warmly as I was opening the door. the waiting room was very clean and magazines picked up. Filled out simple paperwork and only waited a little before being taken back. X-Ray taken and then went to room. met dr. Who was gracious, appeared kowledgable, was not rushed with his explanations and answered all questions I had. Exam room was very clean and sanitary. Met with financial person who again was professional and answered all my questions to developed a treatment plan that worked for me. One of main questions was are you owned by someone else or are you my dentist. He and his dentist wife who went to Loma Linda are the owners and dentists. Went back today to begin work and was not disappointed by my experience, All folks in staff are very welcoming, work went well and I feel that I have found a local dentist I can work with read more

Who loves going to the dentist?! They inflict pain and anxiety!! I never thought I'd be saying this but I actually enjoyed my last dental treatment......! I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago by another dentist, and it had caused decay to my 2nd molar adjacent to the wisdom tooth. At the time, the dentist said that the decay was in such a difficult area to treat, so he left it. Every other dentist I went to since then refused to treat it. 3 years later....that 2nd molar cracks!! I visited my dentist friend from Loma Linda, and he removed the cracked piece from the tooth, but he said my case was rare- something he had not worked on before, so he personally recommended I see Dr. Tak at Pure Dental. No wonder everyone refused to treat my cavity over the years. I gave her a call, she worked me into her schedule the same week, and I went in for treatment. Had an X-ray taken. Dr. Tak explained what was up with the tooth and what she was going to do to treat it. What I appreciated was her explaining what she was doing as she worked on me. So friendly! Top notch staff, who even offered to send me pictures of the X-ray. The atmosphere of the dental office is also very clean and modern (a must for me!). It seems like a new building. I'm glad to have found a great dentist like Dr. Tak! I hear Dr. Dong Kim is also outstanding. read more

***BEWARE*** Dr. Kim is the worst dentist I've ever been too. He is extremely rude and very careless. I went to him in 2016 to have dentures done, Dr. Kim administered injections to numb my gums to pull teeth, each time hitting nerves. When pulling the last 6 teeth left a bloody gaping mess without stitching the gums up, a year later my gums still unhealed. The dentures he had made were extremely ill fit and extremely poor quality. This dentist has very little consideration for the patients he screws up on. I will be filing complaints with the American Dental Association and Denti-Cal. I know several other former patients he has screwed up on with the same non consideration. Do your self a favor and steer clear of this dentist. My health has been severely affected because of his carelessness. read more
