I want to update my review and give Dr. LeMay five stars. Through this experience, I've come to realize how much of life really comes down to communication -- or the lack of it. I can admit that sometimes I jump too quickly when I feel unheard, and my writing (often done through AI) might come across stronger than what I'm truly feeling at the time. Unfortunately, things between Dr. LeMay and me escalated all the way to small claims court before we could find resolution. But after mediation and appearing in front of the judge, I saw a side of Dr. LeMay at the end that I hadn't before -- he gave kind advice, and it made me realize this was never about bad intentions on his part. Looking back, I think much of the tension came from fear and misunderstanding on my side and a lack of open communication on both sides. I'm not perfect -- I know I can be quick to react when I feel like I'm not being heard. But seeing everything come full circle, I honestly believe Dr. LeMay is a good person and a skilled dentist who just had an unfortunate situation with a patient (me) who didn't always fully understand the process. Regardless of the court's outcome, I consider this matter settled in my heart. I learned a lot about communication, patience, and listening -- lessons I want to carry forward into my own business ventures so that customers always feel heard and understood. As a first‑time patient paying the full $199 in cash and not using any insurance, I completed the new‑patient paperwork but chose not to provide my full Social Security number, listing only the last four digits. The front desk clerk immediately told me they would not see me without the full number - mind you the rest of the information was complete. When I asked to speak with a manager, the clerk yelled out "Tony!"... "Tony" didn't say hello, instead responded from across the room, repeating that it was "office policy". Despite some clarifying discussion of the circumstances, Tony stuck with "policy" and even said, "I would need the info. if I had to send you to collections" Huh?! I am paying in cash, in full, no insurance - that won't enter the situation! The rigidity and lack of professionalism were surprising and off‑putting - not to mention the insistance of garnering all of my private info when it wasn't necessary. I left without being seen. Just found out that I need a root canal on a tooth that they placed a crown on in February of this year. 3 months ago! Why was this not discovered then? Paid 1200 out of pocket for the crown and now have to have someone else fix it for another 1K. Avoid this place at all costs. They don't care, it's all about the money. It certainly says something when they don't cover the credit card processing fees like most businesses (cash or checks are preferred, or they charge YOU the percentage to use a credit or debit card) yet they all drive teslas. I went to Desert Dental for help after experiencing 4 years of poorly done implant and denture work by another dentist. My implant based denture was breaking and losing teeth. Almost all of my interactions through many repairs, for over a year was with the Front desk Receptionist. It was she who I informed about what needed to be repaired. I did see a professional less than 40% of the time after each repair. It took Dr. Bruno Lemay about a year to finally meet with me. Unfortunately, his analysis ended up being completely wrong. Two other specialists agreed on what what needed to be done. Their work was great and they solved my situation. I have paid Deseret Dental much money. Often resulting in poor work with little detail. Each time breaking and needing more repairs, My situation was indeed challenging. But allowing me to communicate with the receptionist every time (She is very, very nice) was not the correct medical decision. My last visit was entirely with the receptionist. I got the repair done but nobody professional reviewed the repair. I decided then to find specialists to solve the situation successfully. I received my bill for the final repair and feel it to be their poor process, with no professional review with nothing being solved unfair. Nothing accomplished. I let them know how I feel and have not paid the final bill. I paid all bills prior. My money and time was wasted for a year and nothing solved until I went elsewhere. Inner office communication, Dr Lemay's lack of attention and a patient working far more with a receptionist was not a professional way to help a patient. read more

I am 80 years old and fortunately, still haveI have most of my original teeth. I been using Desert Dental Alternative for many years, maybe a little over 15 years. I have always had sensitive gums that were prone to bleeding and causing extreme pain/sensitivity. Being concerned about my pain threshold, they did everything they could to make my dental care as comfortable as possible. After years of working to save my teeth and keeping my gums healthy, I now anticipate my cleanings and procedures to be to be pain free. Even two root canal's in the last few years, were actually pain free. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the technicians and Doctors are skilled and patient. I wish I could rate Debbie, the hygienist, separately from the other staff. She deserves 5 stars for sure. I was forced to change dentists when I moved to California full time in March. I didn't want to leave Dr. Rastegar but Bruno Lamay was in my new "network" so, I was forced to take a chance on someone new. Most of the blame for the 3-star rating goes to the older receptionist, who tried to cover her failure to tell me I had to have x-rays before I could get my teeth cleaned. She said, "It's a law" as if I should know that and as if that is a fact, which I know it's not. I could have easily had my still-current films from Dr. Rastegar sent over prior to my appointment if she'd told me that was their office policy. When they started getting ready to take new x-rays, I questioned the need for them since I had just had them 9 months earlier, and I wasn't sure if my insurance would cover new ones since the last ones were less than a year old. That hygienist told the older receptionist that I was "refusing" to have new x-rays and they both dismissed me without attempting to give me another appointment. After I left, I remembered that the receptionist verified my insurance the day before which made me wonder if they had confirmed payment for new x-rays since it was a new policy so I called her back. She continued to be dismissive and defensive, put me on hold, and transferred me to the office manager! He defended HER, but finally gave me a reluctant half-apology and a new appointment. Dr. Rastegar's office happily sent me their x-rays within minutes and I hesitantly went back to Desert Alternatives two days later. Debbie was great and I also really liked Dr. Cho. However, when my exam was finished and I reported no complaints at all and they couldn't find anything needing immediate attention, he brought up a "potential" problem, and said I needed a crown on a tooth that hasn't ever bothered me. They took a photo and tried to show me some cracks around the old filling that I couldn't really even see. I agreed to a price quote anyway. He said it would cost more if I waited. I should have asked him to explain why but I didn't. So, clearly, they were trying to maximize claims to my insurance company (both on x-rays and a potential crown, which I will likely have to pay for the majority of myself) to increase their revenue, while putting me through unnecessary, and uncomfortable treatments. This is why our insurance premiums are outlandish! This disaster was totally avoidable, and I hope they never treat any other new patient like that again. read more

I was a patient today I the front desk woman was not only rude to me today, but she had been rude to me in the past. I addressed her rudeness and DR. LEMAY proceeded to come to her defense and tell me that she has been there for over 20 years and that she has never been rude in the past. outrageous fees , was told I needed a extraction and an implant which my cost would be approximately $2,800.00 that's my 40% portion of it and my insurance company would pay an additional 60% when I said I only want the tooth pulled I was quoted almost $800.00 again that's what I would pay over and above my insurance! that's insane, also I was not told that I had a credit on my account of over $100.00, I haven't had work done there for over a year and a half yet they failed to advise me and refund me the credit! If I didn't have this tooth problem I never would have known about the credit and they would still have my money! Upselling services that are not needed is also another thing I think is really a red flag. I would give Dr. Lemay TEN STARS! I've had a lot of dental work over my life, and I thought I had good dentists, but I didn't know that Canadian-trained dentists have an entirely different skill set than American dentists. I'll never see another American-trained dentist again! Dr. Lemay's office runs smoothly and efficiently. His staff is friendly and accommodating, and he uses top-of-the-line imaging and all the latest technology. I've never felt rushed in his office, and I've never been oversold. In 2019, I had a crown replaced on a back lower molar, and I was so impressed by Dr. Lemay's work that I went back in 2020 (yes, during COVID because the office was strictly following safety protocols) to have eleven more crowns replaced. He did three at a time, and each appointment was no longer than an hour. One of the molars needed a root canal, and Dr. Lemay performed the procedure himself instead of sending me to an endodontist. I was very happy about that, too! After the crowns were replaced, I noticed that my gums had receded. This is a common problem with crowns, but one I hadn't anticipated. Seeing those exposed margins made my heart sink, but Dr. Lemay had one more trick up his sleeve; he pulled the gum tissue down to cover the margin! Unbelievable. I have another spot that needs the same procedure, and I'm grateful to know that Dr. Lemay will be able to do it. Now that the molars are attended to, I plan to have Dr. Lemay restore my front teeth. I'll need twelve crowns this time, along with some teeth straightening, and there's no guarantee my gums won't freak out again and recede. Regardless, I know I'll be in good hands with Dr. Lemay. I've had excellent dental care throughout my life and when I moved to Palm Springs I had to figure out where to go for continuing care. I read about Dr. Lemay in Palm Springs Life and decided to give him a try. I'm pretty picky about dental and health care and have been very pleased with Dr. Lemay and his entire staff. This is an efficient operation, from start to finish. Easy to make an appointment. Appointment reminders by text. The receptionist is very upfront about the charges. I haven't been pushed to do anything I didn't want to do. In July one of my back molars broke on a Thursday evening, just 3 days before an extended European vacation. I was panicked! I called the office and left a message stating that I'd be in the next morning and would be willing to wait until Dr. Lemay could see me. At 11:00 pm I called the emergency number and left another message. Dr. Lemay returned my call in about 30 minutes and told me to be in the office at 7:30 am and he'd install a temporary crown. He did it and I went on vacation. Recently I finished the job with a second temporary crown (so that he could make an impression) and the final gold crown. A crown and may other dental procedures aren't fun, but Dr. Lemay makes it as easy and pain-free as possible. Something I learned is not to be shy about novacaine. Ask for more! Dr. Lemay designed and installed my full mouth reconstruction including a lower implant secured denture and upper crowns plus a removable. partial. He also is one of a few doctors in the area to complete the entire reconstruction including consultation, design, surgery, and fitting. Most offices have 2-3 practices involved, with Dr. Lamay, one doctor knows the procedure from start to finish. Excellent work all done 3-4 years ago. Recently the implant denture started slipping loose so I called. For no charge, Dr. Lamay fit me into a busy schedule the following day and patiently replaced some parts because now there were better materials than were available when the initial surgery was performed. the HYGENIST (the technician that cleans teeth) his name is Ervin or Irwin. He was bad ; I get it that he is new and fresh out of school ; however, he did a bad job almost cutting my gums when he flossed me. Then the water pick and the vibrating cleaning machine used for scaling was not a complete job. He rushed it and did it quickly and only certain areas were cleaned. When I walked out I did not feel completely clean like when the other Female Hygenists cleaned my teeth. Both Female Hygenists did a wonderful job. I do not want Ervin or Irwin to clean my teeth anymore. * Other than that, the dentist is really cool and terrific !!! I will go back for dental work. I must admit I have lapsed on my dental work and recently required a visit for a broken filling. I went to Desert Dental Alternatives years ago and always had a good experience, so I decided to return there. When I went in last week, I saw a new dentist that I had not met before, Dr. Gregory Ardary. I had also not met the dental assistant before. I did not catch her name but she was very friendly and put me at ease. I learned that I needed to get my first crown. I have never needed a big procedure on my teeth so I was quite nervous for my appointment this week. Both Dr. Ardary and the dental assistant did a great job talking me through the procedure and answering any questions I had along the way. Dr. Ardary was gentle and responsive to my anxiety. I was also surprised that I experienced very little discomfort. The office is very beautiful, warm and relaxing. Things got off to a good start but then went down hill fast. My first 2 appointments with Dr Lemay went great. Cleaning and exam was a breeze and then appointment for crown molds and temporaries went well. Dr Lemay was efficient at drilling down my teeth and was able to adjust the bite with the strips perfectly. I even got a follow up call by the staff the next day to see how I was doing. This is where it crashed and burned. Now Christmas was on the following Monday and they had me come in on the Thursday before to install my permanent crowns. Dr Lemay was not in so another dentist handled my appointment. He had the worst bedside manner and wasn't very pleasant, which I can over look if the skill was there, but it wasn't. He popped off my temporary crowns and then the suction tube was placed in my mouth. Well the cold air from the suction hit my tooth and triggered a shot of nerve pain and it did make me jump. I swear, his exact words were "I didn't do anything yet" So I guess the pain I felt was imaginary. Then he rinsed off the tooth with water and that made nerve wake up again. At that time, he must have realized that maybe I needed some novocaine. So the crowns get cemented in, and I tried my best to help with adjusting the bite, but being numbed up on both sides made it difficult, so I left thinking I was ok. The next morning, which is Friday before the holiday weekend and after the novocaine had worn off, I realized my bite was impacted in the front. It was affecting my ability to chew food safely. I called Friday morning asking if I can have bite adjusted and was told there was no one in the office that can help me and that I'd have to wait until after Christmas, which would make it over 4 days of not being able to chew food safely. So I called another dental office, they were able to fit me in quickly and I paid out of pocket for them to adjust my bite. They were so nice and did such a good job that I'll be going there from now on. Plus.. I never got a follow up call to see how I was doing like I had before. Update: Like Kevin K, I had to call and request a refund be sent to me after more than 60 days went by. I only discovered it when I was reviewing my EOB from Cigna Dental. read more

I will NEVER go back to this dentist. His cosmetic work is fair, but when he realized I live in Mexico part of the year his attitude changed, and he tried to pressure me into doing more dental work there with him, and when I said I would prefer to wait and do it in Mexico stated "You get what you pay for" Huh!! Not so in this case.. Bobbi was rude, not at all friendly. I was also a cash patient and Martha asked me for my D.L., when I told her she didn't need it she looked dumbfounded! I went to see Dr. Lemay specifically for something cosmetic because he had done something previously for me. He did a fair job, but seemed annoyed that I didn't want to pay $3300 for a root canal and crown on a different tooth. I live part of the year in Mexico and spend Winters in the desert, and didn't want to pay so much money knowing I could have it done for a fraction of his cost! He told me if I didn't do it soon it could break off any day and then I would have serious problems and be in excruciating pain. Well it had been this way for a long time so I figured I would take my just take my chances. When I returned to Mexico about three weeks later, I saw an excellent dentist who was able to do the root canal and restoration without having my tooth removed and that cost me $150 so I saved $$3150. That's a consiberable amount of money for the average person. The front office girls have an "attitude" and don't want to bother explaining anything. The pricing is mixed up on their billing and estimates too. Bobbi seems irritated if you question her about anything.When you are giving them so much money ( I paid over $1500 just for a crown!) You should be treated with courtesy. Really it isn't what you spend either . It's about being kind and respectful.
