After administering the novocaine, Dr. Bussa…read moretold me he would return in five minutes, but I ended up waiting nearly an hour before he came back to extract the molar. While I understand that delays can happen, I couldn't help but wonder why it took so long, especially since the only other patient in the office appeared to be there for a consultation. After the extraction, I was given basic home care instructions and sent on my way. However, within a week, two stitches came out, followed by a sharp edge emerging at the extraction site, which irritated the side of my tongue. I called the office and was advised to return for a follow-up. During that visit, Dr. Bussa explained that my issues were caused by being too aggressive with the prescribed mouthwash and letting my tongue touch the extraction site. He even warned that if I didn't keep my tongue away, the area wouldn't heal properly. Luckily, I had a regular check-up scheduled with my dentist shortly after. She immediately identified the real issue: a bone fragment had come to the surface--something that can sometimes happen after extractions. She easily removed the fragment, which turned out to be large and extremely sharp. Her concern, along with that of her staff, made it clear that this should have been addressed during my follow-up with Dr. Bussa. Overall, I was disappointed with the care I received. Whether it was a lack of knowledge about post-extraction complications, the unexplained wait time, or the failure to address the issue properly, I cannot recommend Dr. Bussa. I also reached out to the office by email to share my experience and waited for a response before posting this review. I was told that my experience would be discussed at a staff meeting. Patients deserve more attentiveness, professionalism, and respect for their time and well-being.

I actually didn't go to the dentist for a number of years when I was younger until I realized how important it was to take care of your teeth. So when I did make an appointment, this is a true story by the way, the hygienist who cleaned my teeth brought out a whole tray of instruments. For those of you that have seen Braveheart, that is what it looked like to me. Then she begins to file.......er sharpen her instruments while I'm laying there in the chair! First of all I'm thinking that this should have been done BEFORE I arrived. Second I had a severe feeling of a lamb there for the slaughter. Needless to say that was the last visit to that dentist. We ended up moving and now we have been seeing Dr. Dunlap for the past several years. I am here to say that this is by far and away the best experience I have ever had. I have the same hygienist (Christy) which is nice for familiarity. Christy has worked there for 15 years. There is music to listen to and its not elevator music. They even have TV's in their rooms. Woodbury Family Dentist are very accommodating as they schedule my wife and I at the same time so we can both go at the same time. Dr Dunlap has also been wonderful to work with. A couple of years ago I chipped a tooth. I called and made an appointment to have my tooth looked at. Dr Dunlap used one of those "tools" to smooth out the rough area. My appointment did not take too long and as I got up to go pay she stated that there would be no charge! I was floored by this as I would expect to pay for any service regardless of time. This to me was a great example of how Dr Dunlap and her staff care for their patients. I still don't look forward to going to the dentist however if I am going to go to any dentist, its Dr Dunlap and her staff. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a quality medical professional of any practice to see. I am thankful that we can see Dr Dunlap.

First of all I had to wait quite awhile to be seen and that used to be pretty rare. They couldn't find my dental and health records including meds I take and they had them. I had seen another dentist 6 months earlier who had sent over their records and Schara Dentistry wanted me to contact the other dentist to get gum measurements so I was all ready to do that (to my surprise) and right before I walked out the door they found them. They also told me I was going to have to pay out of pocket for the cleaning because my insurance only covered the 2 cleanings I had during the year (which is fine) but they were going to let me leave without paying until I mentioned it and then they insisted that I pay immediately. The person who checked me out was very slow and wasted a lot of time and didn't communicate with me so I was just standing there waiting and waiting, wondering what was going on. The new hygienist made me hold the suction hose through the whole cleaning which I've never had to do at any dentist before. They normally just hook it over the edge of your mouth and let it hang -- it was odd. Aside from the standard lecture that I don't brush properly she was fine.

By the time I was referred to Dr. Schara, I was in bad shape (and learned that I don't handle tooth pain very well). From the first time I saw him, and every time since, both him and his entire staff has been wonderful- even though I am sure I am not the easiest patient to deal with. They have always managed to calm my nerves and keep me distracted from "the task at hand." I have never once encountered an unpleasant person in either office. Ashley and Deb both go above and beyond when I'm in the chair and Carmen is super helpful when it comes to questions and appointment scheduling. Truly- I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
