I am so in love with my dentist. Not my actual dentist (pause, check name) I am so in love with my Dental Center. 1) They have chocolate chip cookies and a fully stocked Keurig in the entry way 2) They offer paraffin wax hand treatments while you're getting your teeth taken care of 3) They offer nitrous oxide for your 4-year-old who refuses to get his teeth X-Rayed (those plastic X-Ray things do hurt) 4) They told me I have excellent teeth 5) I am in and out within 30 minutes I am so approving of dentists becoming competitive - you can tell this clinic is trying to keep its customers happy. I'm happy (but it could be the nitrous). I should also say that they have really great scheduling - I can usually get in within a week (if I'm flexible, or sometimes not), and they got my mom in when she had a broken tooth within a day (even though she hadn't previously been seen by their dentists). read more

Office is open concept and they ask a lot of medical information in hear shot of others. The care quality was lacking, I found they pushed a lot of additional products and refused simple cleanings if you disagree. read more

I've been coming to this office for 2 years now. Ashley is one of the best front desk admin I have ever encountered! She has such a nice personality and is consistent every time I visit the office. I have had great results at this clinic! I go every 6 months and have been pleased with my results. I have also started Sure Smile Alligners with Dr Fink and I am not done yet, but am excited with the improvements already. Insurance has always been accepted. Overpriced! Beware they charge more for cleaning/exams that what is acceptable by insurance companies. You won't find that out until you get their bill. They will not negotiate. They gave me an estimate for a $1500 crown. I picked up the phone and called two other dentists, who priced the same work at $500 and $600. That's a $900-$1000 mark up. (As it turned out, I didn't even need a crown.) Their pricing is unacceptable. read more

I'd refer any and all people in my life here. It is professional, friendly, accommodating, caring and convenient. I can't say enough. Who rates a dental office? Someone in shock at the great experience. They offered a paraffin treatment, snacks, sunglasses, music, blankets, beverages, text reminders, and have a fireplace. Super friendly staff and they are so caring and informative. They even gave me a tour of the entire clinic. It's in a professional building so you'd have no idea how nice it is until you go in. And a tv for the kiddos; so cute with a little table for them. I was brought to my appointment at EXACTLY my appointment time all the times I have been. They can take you usually when you get in. Their hours are reasonable and they are friendly. I have to hand it to them, they are knowledgeable and they know teeth. Although every now and then they get on their high horse and start lecturing. I don't know if they were just trying a scare tactic or what, but whatever it was, it didn't work on me. You can't scare me into doing something. I've also questioned them on a clinical study that is out there and they seemed to have no knowledge of it. In order to understand my one star review, please make sure you read the entire review. Two years ago I finally made an appointment to get my teeth checked. It had been a long time since I had been to the dentist - at least five years - and the reason why is because I was a grad student and didn't have dental insurance. I finally had a job with okay dental insurance - it at least covered the cleanings! - so I decided to go to Silver Lake Dental after the suggestion of a co-worker who knew they took our insurance. Yes, the inside is nice. TVs, magazines, coffee, cookies, etc. They also gave me a tour of the facility. Okay, cool, I liked the place. When I finally saw the dentist, I found out the first appointment never includes a cleaning, just x-rays and a panel (so make sure to check your insurance because they only allow that every once in awhile, which I found later). According to the x-rays/dental check, I was told I needed several fillings. Around six. This seemed weird to me since I have never had a cavity (and my teeth weren't hurting) but who knows, I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile. I probably would have gotten these "necessary fillings" here except they only do white fillings, not metal fillings, and my insurance wouldn't cover that. The price quote was over $1,500 for those white fillings. Ummmm, okay. No. I felt weird about this place and wasn't keen on going back. I cancelled my cleaning six months later. A couple months after I made that cancellation, I got a weird, scolding letter telling me I'm not taking care of my teeth and they are going to close my file. Look, I realize I am delinquent with dealing with my teeth but a lecture via letter from a place I went to once? I put the letter in the garbage and decided not to go back. So why are we here in 2016 with a 1-star review? There is a point, I promise, hold on. I wake up a few weeks ago with terrible jaw pain. I have always been a teeth grinder but this took it a new level. I didn't want to go back to Silver Lake Dental so I looked up different dentists in the area and found a good one. Since I couldn't open my jaw and it was a slight emergency, they got me in right away. Yes, I need a mouth guard. Those cavities, though? They are non-existent. Sure, I have two back molars "on the verge of becoming cavities" but THEY WEREN'T CAVITIES. Somehow two years later, those cavities became non-existent. At my first appointment at my new clinic, they called Silver Lake Dental and asked them to send over my records. They agreed. When I went back over a week later to get my dental guard, the records still weren't sent and I doubt they will ever make it. Regardless, this is pretty upsetting because I definitely feel duped - what if I had gotten those fillings?! Go at your own risk. read more

The end of March 2021, I confirmed by phone and website search to make sure Silver Lake Dental would be in-network for my Humana insurance. At that time, both the dental office and the insurance company confirmed, yes they were in network, so I completed all the online forms and booked an appointment for the middle of May 2021. One week before my appointment i received a phone call from the dental office telling me "they aren't in network, they are out of network and I should have confirmed that before I made the appointment. You didn't check when you made the appointment." BUT they did say I could keep the appointment if I wanted to pay the extra for being out-of-network. IS this just a ploy to get more money? I guess they don't care about their clients, only concerned about the extra money it brings in. read more

As other reviews have stated, the clinic is aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately there is no guarantee on the work. It was recommended that I get an inlay, it lasted two years and then crumbled. When I called, I was told there were no guarantees. I am out 1400 dollars for a crown to replace the inlay, since the tooth was too small after silver lake worked on it. Health Partners Arden Hills guarantees their work for five years. read more

The clinic is very welcoming, however, I was recommended to have a procedure that involved oral surgery. They sent me to an endodontist. He told me I had tooth "cancer" and needed to have a procedure that involved cutting the gum and operating under the gum line. $$$ They did many x rays. I was so upset. I went to my childhood dentist for a second opinion. He did not understand what Dr. Snell was even talking about. He looked at my old x rays and found the same problem, a small hole in a tooth that was genetic. It did not require surgery. It was NOT "tooth cancer." I left Silver Lake Dental and returned to my old dentist. It was very traumatizing to me. Very upsetting. NO, just no. read more

I debated writing a negative review, but decided that they earned it. I had a crown replacement with Dr Charlie Hannon. It hurt & trapped food. I let them know & they offered to replace it free of charge. It is traumatic to get a permanent crown removed. He used ribbon to control the bleeding & placed a temporary for 2 weeks while the permanent was made. It bugged me all the first week. I kept working at it & finally got out a piece of the ribbon. Food caught in it every meal the next 2 weeks. I worried that the permanent would do the same since they are made from the same measurements. I requested Dr Snell apply the new crown so that I could stay within the office, but benefit from a second opinion. I told her food had caught the entire 2 weeks & I worried the permanent crown would do the same. I told her I didn't want a second incorrect crown as it is traumatic to get a permanent one cut off. She placed it, tried a piece of floss & made the observation that it had a good pop when the floss went through. She cemented it in place & food caught every meal. I went to another dentist & he stated that it was "a little light on both sides". He agreed to replace it & told me I should request a refund. I called the office manager at Silver Lake Dental, AKA Silver Lake Smiles who became irritated & told me I should have let them know. I thought I had. They agreed to refund my money. With the refund check they sent a letter as required by law that told me they would help me through any emergencies for the next thirty days, but "under no circumstances would they accept me back as a patient" after that. Mouth pain is so weird. It is hard to know when or why something begins. Sometime during this period I had also been having pain in the opposing tooth. I thought it was due to a new nerve pain. It has been nine days since my new dentist placed my new temporary crown. That pain is resolved! My new temporary crown does not trap food. read more

A co-worker recommended Silver Lake Dental soon after I moved to MN 2 years ago. Turns out to be one of the best suggestions I have gotten. My teeth are a challenge to care for and the team at Silver Lake has assisted in greatly improving my overall dental health. They do a great job of preventive maintenance and are proactive in looking at and monitoring potential problems. The staff are friendly and helpful. My family are also now attending and the three of us agree this is the best dental care we have received - bar none. I highly recommend silver Lake Dental. read more

If you love bad customer service, then this is the dentist for you! The receptionist are extremely rude, I know if I behaved the way they do I would be out of a job. Last time I was in for a cleaning the hygienist knocked a spot on my permanent retainer loose. For THEIR mistake they expected me to pay $180 for them to put one spot of cement back on my retainer!!! I went to my orthodontist and they did it for free and they were appalled that Silver Lake Dental wanted me to pay for their mistake. Most recently, I had to cancel the day before my cleaning. I explained that I had to cancel due to mandatory overtime at work. They then charged me $40!! There goes my overtime pay. Thanks a lot Silver Lake Dental. read more
