I went in a couple of weeks ago for an emergency dental procedure. Overall they were pleasant and helpful. As I left, I booked a couple more appointments in the coming weeks to fill and clean as needed. Despite receiving a confirmation text message for my appointment AND confirming it, I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment only to find they no longer had it. While I won't say this practice should be avoided, if you're sensitive to schedule changes like me, this may not be the practice for you. Edit: Changing to 1 star. I would not recommend this dental office. They provide estimated bills that FSA Administrators do not accept, and their front staff suggests using an EOB that does not match the estimated payment amount. In addition, they bill random amounts even after full payment for services, and they charge for unconfirmed appointments, even with an impeccable appointment history. This situation is frustrating and not worth my time. There are so many other dental offices available, and it's clear that this one does not need more patients. Furthermore, when I brought up my concerns, they informed me that our call was being recorded and that Dr. Vaughn would be reviewing it. I hope he uses it as a training opportunity for his front staff to understand why patients are leaving and how to understand customer frustration. I'm done with this place. read more

Kristin was my dental hygienists, and her delicate touch made this visit absolutely wonderful. She used a random pattern so I wouldn't anticipate anything, which I really appreciated. Dr. Vaughn and his staff are wonderful. He is so considerate and very attentive to his patients needs. I called for a toothache and got an appointment the next day. He took extra time and care to make sure I was comfortable and feeling no pain. He gave me all the options and information about my dental work that i had to consider before letting me make a decision. After extracting my tooth yesterday (my choice) I am feeling pretty good. This week I was in need of an emergency root canal. I went to another Woodbridge area dentist yesterday morning and they recommended a $4K procedure that was going to take over 8 months to do instead of just giving me a root canal and crown. I walked out of that office and called Pure Dental before leaving the parking lot! They were able to see me immediately. Everyone at the practice was friendly, informative and professional. I had my procedure done today and could not be happier with the care I received. No one wants to spend 2 hours in a dentist's chair but they took great care of me. We originally chose this office because of the reviews and the proximity to our house. After going here for 2 1/2 years I can say we love it. The staff and Dr Vaughn are so wonderful with my 4 & 6 year old. I've even done crowns and teeth whitening here with amazing results. Recently I had to get some detailed military related dental information done and Courtney was so great and patient helping me with this whole process. My grandson went to this dentist for a few years. He did miss 12 appointments that were paid for but some of those appointments missed were on Mondays and no way to give a 48 hr call to cancel. Never the less he recently needed to get some fillings taken care of and was refused treatment unless the services were paid up front and if the appointment missed for those services they keep the money...like if you prepay $1000 they keep your $1000. Fillings that he has done have fallen out...crowns fallen off. This practice has made a lot of money off of my grandson and he did go to this practice when it first opened up....but like a lot of others that get high and mighty..this practice is no better then any other! I can not say enough good things or praise Pure Dental enough. We had an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. My husband is big 'ol construction worker from Texas and is TERRIFIED of dentistry and going to the dentist and avoids going completely (I know, I know...this only makes things worse) . Because of this, he does not have an established dentist. On a Thursday night (after hours) he started experiencing horrible tooth pain. We knew he needed to get in somewhere as soon as possible and we were sure he was going to end up needing an extraction. I started calling local dentists & oral surgeons and leaving messages for a return call on Friday morning. Bridgette from Pure Dental phoned me back at 7:37am...7 minutes after their office opened. She was so knowledgeable and helpful and delivered the best news...that she could get my husband in to be seen within a few hours. Upon arrival everyone at the front desk was so nice and helpful, we completed the necessary paperwork and they took him right back. Everyone in the back was so nice! My husband saw Dr. T and she was the absolute best! An x-ray revealed that he needed 2 teeth extracted (decay between the teeth was too bad for restoration) and Pure Dental was willing and able to do it that day. This is when my husband went into panic mode and started sweating profusely. He wanted sedation and to be completely knocked out. They offered him nitrous and assured him that he would not feel any pain and it would be ok. Knowing that his only other option was to leave, have to endure the horrific pain through the weekend and then TRY to find another dentist on Monday...he reluctantly decided to proceed. I'm not at all afraid of the dentist but I was very anxious for him and Dr T. and have to admit that I was praying for him and for Dr. T. I could have stayed in the room but decided to get out of the way and go sit in the waiting room. I don't know if Abigail could sense my anxiety or what, but she made small talk with me the whole time and the next thing I knew, he was done and ready to go home. The whole procedure took less than an hour, went smoothly, and Dr. T said he did great! He has had very little pain/discomfort and has raved about them all weekend. He has even suggested that he would go back for a cleaning and a check-up soon. This is a monumental change to his fear of dentistry! I just can't say enough good things. This is a little lengthy but truly an honest review: I've been coming to Pure Dental for about 2 years and have had my regular cleanings with Yvette, she is great and I recommend her. Until recently I was told I needed a crown on an bad molar. This would have been my very first crown, I was a little nervous about it. Dr Vaughn numbed me an proceeded drilling and getting my tooth prepped for a temporary crown. In the same day he also filled a couple of fillings on the same side. I expected to experience some discomfort for a day or two after and I was prepared for that. What I was not prepared for was excruciating pain that lasted over a week. The pain radiated in my lower jaw and neck and I was very concerned and unhappy. I couldn't eat, I had a huge migraine and I kept ice on my face to keep the swelling down. I had to leave work early because I was in pain. The inside of my jaw was raw and it was difficult for me to open my mouth all the way. I was very concerned with the amount of pain I was in so I made an appointment to have Dr Vaughn look at it. I want to also advise that I am someone who has a relatively HIGH pain tolerance and can take most things like a champion. So I make my appointment and expressed my concerns and Dr Vaughn basically told me "this is normal" I beg to differ....he took an X-ray and referred me to a root canal specialist to make sure there was no nerve damage. Meanwhile I'm thinking in my head why was that not assessed beforehand?? I meet with the root canal specialist and he indeed said I would need a root canal ( big surprise). At this point I'm irritated because I didn't have any problem with my tooth before all of this, he just recommended that tooth couldn't be filled and said I needed a crown. I trusted his professional opinion and didn't question it. Now I regret it. A root canal is not a cheap procedure by any means. I did tell Dr Vaughn that I may just extract the tooth altogether. He was very adamant about me keeping that tooth and gave me a spiel how I shouldn't pull it blah blah blah (eye roll). The tooth is the very last tooth in the back and very hard to get to and brush. Years ago I had the same tooth on the other side extracted for the same reason. So I really saw no reason in shelling out thousands of dollars for crowns and root canals and all those procedures that keep dentists PAID... I digress. I really liked the root canal specialist that I saw because he also told me "to save this tooth would be very expensive and I don't blame you for wanting to extract it" he further noted that even if I saved it I would most likely have issues with it down the line. He assured me that removing that 1 molar will not affect my bite or eating and my alignment will be fine. (Applaud) thank you for understanding doc. After leaving his office I called back Dr Vaughn and told him I would not be proceeding with a root canal or a permanent crown and to cancel my crown order. He seemed surprised and told me "in his personal opinion" I should keep the tooth because it's "still a good tooth" (no it's not, it's half decayed don't bullshit me). Then he started to tell me all the disadvantages of extracting my tooth "pulling that tooth will be like pulling two teeth and it could affect your bone blah blah blah" I was again getting irritated because I didn't feel he had my best interest at heart. My opinion of Dr Vaughn changed after all of this, which is unfortunate because I really enjoyed going there. If you come here for regular cleanings and minor procedures you are probably fine but gettin other extensive work I would seek a second opinion if you feel uncomfortable. Don't be afraid to speak up on what you want because at the end of the day it is YOUR mouth and your money. I also want to be clear that this practice has done well by me in the past, this last visit just turned me off and I'm unsure if I want to go back. read more

I have no idea why this app discarded my review. Kind of angry about it because I had a really positive experience at this dentist. Good chair side manner- not stiff and awkward. They make you feel comfortable. I am very critical of dentists too! We move a lot because of my husband's job and I only WISH this dentist was where we live now. I felt compelled to re- enter my review because my experience was above the average dentist experience and the two reviews "considered reliable", to me fit the criteria to not be reliable FAR MORE than mine. The work they did on my husband was quality work with NO issues of sensitivity or ill fitting results. Our cleanings were great. My kids loved the workers- which is a big deal. read more

I love Dr. Vaughan and his staff; I have been a patient for well over a year. Scheduling has never been an issue as it's done six months in advance. My appointment for my routine cleaning was cancelled due to the hygienist being out sick. I am terribly disappointed that they have no availability for a month or longer and are unable to accommodate me . I will now have to take off from work to take the only available appointment time they have. This is frustrating. Will I stop going to Pure Dental because of this? Of course not. But I do think something should be done to accommodate a patient whose appointment was cancelled due to factors out of his or her control. I did not cancel my appointment, they did. read more

I was looking for a general dentist in Woodbridge area for my uncle who needed extensive work and teeth removal. Thanks for Yelp and I sent him to Pure Dental. It was amazing how clean the reception area is. The staff in general are very welcoming. Dr. Vaughn is probably one of the best dentist we have come across. He extracted 2 of my uncle's teeth and he had no pain after the surgery. My uncle is scheduled for gum treatment because he has not been to a dentist for over 20 years. I have and am still pleased with the dental services received at Pure Dental specifically from Dr. Vaughn. I am not pleased with their practice of over-estimating claims and reluctance to issue refunds for the overpayment. This happened on 2 occasions which is why I am no longer a patient at Pure Dental. Prior to today, I'd been told a letter would be mailed informing me of the refund and I'd need to confirm if I wanted a check issued or to leave it as a credit...of course the letter never came. Several attempts have been made to obtain My money, today I was told 'that legally they had up to 6 months to return the money'. If I owed a creditor, they wouldn't hesitate to report it to the credit bureau but as a consumer I am at the mercy of someone willing to do the right thing. I'm not sure if I have any recourse other than making this practice known in a very public manner and reporting it to the insurance company. read more

I've left a review here before about pure dental. I still feel he is the Best dentist in the area! I've never been so comfortable and so totally okay going to any dentist. The staff is super friendly and they are all hilarious. I was so busy laughing with my dentist and dental assistant that I never even felt him stick me to numb me. He said you may feel a pinch. Yeah I never felt that pinch. During the entire thing they always checked to make sure I was going okay. After I was done, he asked me if I had any other concerns. When I went to pay, I over heard my dentist calling to check on one of his patients to make sure everything was going well. I mean really!?!?! What dentist cares about their patient after a procedure and has already paid? This one, that's who. Hands down, best damn dentist in town. I love this office, I love the staff and I love the care I have received in the past 5+ years. I've had many huge events in my life and this office is like family in celebrating all of the milestones Ive had. As for the care one receives here---unmatched. As someone with a chronic condition that unfortunately can affect my teeth negatively, Dr. Vaughn, Brina and everyone have put in the work to reverse my perio issues. Dr. Vaughn and staff are AMAZING!!!!! They truly go above and beyond, and you are treated as if you are the only patient that they have. They are extremely thorough and are excellent when it comes to the quality of care and level of customer service that they give. This has been the absolute BEST dental visit that I have had. They made sure that I was comfortable and took their time. I am extremely happy that I have found them through a neighbor that recommended them to me.
