I decided to establish care with a new dentist, and I was very disappointed to find out that I had cavities developing in areas that are difficult to reach with regular brushing, including around old fillings. What was most frustrating was that during my visits here, I was always told, "Great job brushing," and I was never informed of any concerns or areas that needed closer attention. It also felt like the office was more focused on scheduling my 6-month follow-up appointments than on thoroughly addressing my dental health and providing clear communication about my care. I had referred family and friends to this office, and unfortunately, they experienced similar issues. Communication and follow-up are very important when it comes to dental care, and I feel this was lacking. The office staff also did not provide a welcoming experience, and there seemed to be constant staff changes during the time I was a patient. I initially overlooked that, but combined with my overall experience, it contributed to my disappointment. Overall, I am very unhappy with my experience and would not recommend this office based on my concerns with communication, consistency, and the level of care I received.

The staff member collected my information but ultimately stated she was unsure if my insurance was accepted and that someone would follow up the next day. By the end of the following day, I had not received any call, text, or update. I reached out again and went through the same process, only to be given the same response. I asked whether I had reached a call center or the office directly and was informed that I was speaking with the office. I explained that this was my second time experiencing the same interaction. I was then told that during my initial call, my information was likely not documented, which was quite concerning. I requested to speak with a manager. Shortly after, the same staff member returned to the line and stated that my insurance was, in fact, accepted--an answer that only came after I requested escalation. I reiterated my request to speak with a manager, at which point Carla identified herself as the manager. Carla attributed the initial issue to a call center, but when I pointed out that I received the same response during my follow-up call, she explained that the staff member was new. Unfortunately, Carla did not demonstrate a sense of accountability or urgency regarding the situation. Her response conveyed that this experience was not a significant concern, which was disappointing and did not reflect a high standard of customer service. Overall, this experience left me with little confidence in the organization's communication and administrative processes.

08/08/2025 Office experience was terrible. I have a bit of dental anxiety and let's face it, the…read moredentist can be a bit scary. I was referred to an oral surgeon after several dentists explained that in order to remove my 2 bottom impacted wisdom teeth it would have to be done under anesthesia due to the location and how one is completely impacted horizontally into the gums and will require the removal of a bit of jaw bone/cartilage. I went in for my consultation and Dr Nguyen was super nice and I explained that I have anxiety about this procedure but she assured me it would be fine & I was scheduled to come in the following week to have the surgery done. I arrived a half an hour early just to iron out any issues or in case I had last minute questions. My fiancé had told me to make sure they were planning to give me anesthesia for the surgery. I asked the person at the front desk and they said that they were actually only going to use "local anesthetic" aka Novocain shots & that I didn't need anything more than that. I started to panic because I was expecting to be at the very least given sedation (laughing gas) The employee (Angela) started to talk down to me saying in an extremely snarky tone of voice "if you're already having THIS much anxiety before the procedure then maybe you're just not ready for it" and I replied that I'm having anxiety about undergoing a major oral surgery without any anesthesia or sedation. So she told me to sit and wait while she went to talk to the oral surgeon (Dr Phuong N Nguyen) when she came back from speaking to the Dr she informed me that they would give me the nitrous oxide/laughing gas but that now they would only be able to take out 1 wisdom tooth & not the other more severely impacted tooth, for that one I would have to schedule a separate appointment and go through another surgery and a second time being put under anesthesia/sedation. I explained that I wouldn't be able to take off work a second time because I have a small home daycare & I asked her to explain to me why they were willing to remove BOTH wisdom teeth without any anesthesia or sedation but now that I was asking for the bare minimum sedation (laughing gas) they could only do 1 at a time now. She got very upset and told me that since I don't trust them that I should just go somewhere else to get it done. I went on to write an honest review of the office and in doing so the employee (Angela) then took it upon herself to use my private medical information to locate my small home daycare online and in retaliation for my review she gave my business (which she's had zero interactions) a 1 star review. This is against their own policy listed on their website which states that they will not retaliate in any way if you make a complaint to them or to the Department of Health. This is extremely unethical if not illegal.

I told him the tooth was moving after the second root canal and he told me sometimes false sensations occurred because of the obliteration of the nerve root. Fast forward about a year and I have an infection in my jaw burn. I literally have a huge knot in my jaw and the tooth is so painful I cannot eat. My gum is receding around the tooth because of multiple traumas from multiple root canals, infection, and extraction of the same tooth. I have bone splinters sticking out of my gums that have caused a large ulceration on my tongue. It hurts me to eat, it hurts me to talk, it hurts me to swallow my food. I will have to have oral surgery to cut my gums open and grind down the bone shards that are sticking out of my gum. I will also lose the tooth beside the one he butchered, because of the gum receding has exposed the root and nerve. Dr e will commit only to paying for the oral surgery. He will not restore my mouth to the level it was when I walked in his practice. He's trying to negotiate with me, it's suggesting half measures to fix it. It is half measures that brought me to this. I am following complaints against him with United Concordia insurance, and I am filing a complaint with the Virginia department of healthcare professionals. The final tool I have to make this man pay for what he has done butchering my mouth is to mount a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood in the back of my truck. It will say, dedicated Smiles butchered my mouth. I will park it in front of his business every single day while I frequent other businesses in the shopping center and spend my money. My God this man has cost me misery. If I can close the doors to his business it would be a public service to the rest of the community. He is dangerous, and does not hold himself accountable for the damage he does. For God's sake do not let him do to you what he has done to me.https://www.yelp.com/writeareview/biz/ou8n8ykHaQt-cRJOxUPjhw?review_origin=mobile-site-question-based-entrypoint&toast_recommend=no

It began with noticing that cleanings were becoming rushed and incomplete -- sometimes it felt like no real cleaning was done at all. Over time, that lack of thoroughness became the norm. The final straw came with a serious issue involving a financing plan for my son's treatment. Although I agreed to an 18-month, no-interest plan, the office enrolled me in a 24-month plan with 26% interest. It took me four stressful weeks and numerous calls and emails (many unanswered) to get it fixed. At one point, I was even told the account could only be canceled if I opened a new one, which felt coercive and unprofessional. As a Deaf patient, I rely on email communication, yet messages often went ignored. Two years later, I still haven't received the final statement or an explanation for the mysterious $125 credit that I was supposedly owed. Our new dentist also questioned the amount of work that was recommended here -- and several of my son's fillings had to be redone because they had fallen out, costing us $750 out of pocket. I'm sharing this so others know to review their paperwork carefully, confirm financing terms, and keep all communication in writing.

I have been to many dental office as well & never have I experienced such a hateful greeting. We had a double emergency appt booked for my daughter & I. We took a wrong turn because getting there is hard and their building is located in a weird area, that caused us to take the wrong turn. This took us out of our way and we had to turnaround. Made us late arriving to their building. We jumped out & ran inside the building only to find a sign that said we had to walk around to the front. Nice for those of us who park in handicapped parking and have small kids. Once we made it inside, a woman with a snarl on her face greeted us with a bark, "Do U have an appointment?!" Well, yes, why else would be here? She was having a private conversation on the phone & glared at us over her shoulder as if we were interrupting and bothering her. Told her who we were and she again barked, "UR 15 minutes late!" I told her we got lost & apologized. We were there to be seen on an emergency basis. My daughter has 2 bad teeth, as do I. We start a month long summer camp next week & the dentist goes on vacation tomorrow. We wanted to be evaluated with appts being set up next week. I told the nasty ogre I would kill my appt so we were actually 40 minutes early for my daughter's appt. She snapped, "That's not how it works!" I told her that's ridiculous, but fine. We would get another dentist who actually cares for people. This was an emergency evaluation appt! We get better care at the worst ER in Woodbridge than here. The dentist was gonna make a ton of money from us. I need at least 2 crowns & my daughter needs 1 crown & filling. I have many more teeth needing care. Find any other dentist than this one. Unless UR into S&M.

I went to the place believing we would discuss options. Everyone was in such a rush. I was on the phone with my FSA and was asked multiple questions even after I said I was occupied. I had my child's dentist send x rays prior to the appt. I was shocked when they said she needed x rays. Then they showed me the cost and I reiterated that the child already had x rays/panoramic sent over. The assistant proceeded to say they aren't the same as what they need to do. It was then that she mentioned a cat scan. The doctor came quickly. He spoke only to my 11 year old and asked for HER consent to the root canal. I let him know that she can't consent and that I have questions. I included questions about her age plus the invasiveness of a root canal. He assured me root canals last a long time and discouraged an extraction. When I received the massive estimate for a root canal on her tooth, plus the cat scan and his evaluation (he never touched the chid). I let them know I wasn't prepared for that cost nor a root canal that day. And asked for an explanation of the cost. The doctor walked away as the office manager broke down the fees. When I mentioned the extraction and the risk of the root canal failing (the cavity is very deep) the office manager said he would bring the doctor back in to talk with me. They were about 8 feet from my. The manager reiterated what he said and the doctor outright refused to come back to speak with me and said we could do the extraction of we didn't want the root canal. I packed my child up and left. I left wondering ethics and questioning his professionalism. I asked for her x rays that I paid for and they stated the couldn't email them and instead suggested that I return with a flash drive to download them. I won't be back, nor will I recommend them.
