Stopped in here to eat on our way out of the wedding. The place is small, but cozy. With room at the bar, a television in the corner, and a great view of their donut selection, you can't really ask for much more. Their doughnuts are made fresh daily. You can tell just by the quality when you bite into it. It's crumbly, moist, chewy. All the delicious synonyms you can think of when describing a doughnut. I had the bacon and egg bagel, and a cinnamon donut. My friend's companion had a wrap with sweet potato fries. The staff were friendly, and chatted us up a bit. We loved this place! The restaurant sits right on route 11 in Lexington, VA. It's bright blue and red colors makes it stand out from the road. The eclectic decor really sets it apart from the usual burger joint. What I love about this place is that their burgers are local as it gets. I ordered their classic burger with lettuce, tomato, and mayo alongside their sweet potato fries. Sooo yummy! Hubby ordered the same with all the fixings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) with sweet potato fries as well. Our little had the kids hot dog with french fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious! After we were done, we decided to splurge on their homemade donuts and a chocolate milk shake. Absolutely amazing!! Burgers were okay but nothing special. We waited a long time for our food and they got the toppings wrong but I didn't feel like waiting even longer for them to get it right. The onion rings were tasty and homemade but seemed a little greasy. I was one of the few people wearing a mask at this place to order takeout, so the lady decides to make an example and pretend they couldn't see anyone at the counter. Instead of taking my order, she wandered around the tables wasting time. I was ready to walk out but my wife outside was looking forward to the hamburger. My $9 specialty burger was smaller than ANY other burger joint. Maybe similar to a Five Guys single, at twice the price and no French fries included. So your telling me, assuming the kids meals cost less than the adults (which they are), that for a burger, soda and fried the adults average around $15per person to eat? Interesting. This place seemed really cute and amazing when I first walked in. That changed real fast. I went to order a breakfast bagel sandwich for me and my husband. It states that's $6 for bacon egg and cream cheese (so the lady said), but I added cheddar cheese and avocado. Which was extra .75 cents each. I ordered extra cheese and asked for the cream cheese to be on both sides with and over eat egg. She was nice at first but then started acting really rude to me. I'm assuming it's because of my anti racism shirt that is pretty blunt. Her and the lady in the kitchen stood there and were glaring and whispering the entire time. When I got my order I looked at it and knew right away it was messed up. The egg was over hard, barely any cream cheese and hardly any cheddar. I looked at her and she gave me this arrogant look. My kids and I were visiting Lexington so I was browsing Yelp for some places to eat nearby our hotel. We didn't have time to pop in until our last day when we were actually about to head home. I had read their cinnamon sugar donuts were delicious so I bought a half-dozen to take home with us to share with my kids and husband (who didn't go on this trip). This restaurant was absolutely delicious!!! It's a cute little mom and pop shop with a wonderful homey atmosphere! It's right next to the movie theater and is a go-to-stop after a evening movie! I went with a few friends and the staff were so sweet! Burgers were moist and flavorful and the fries were cooked to perfection. Burger was the size and flavor of a typical home grilled burger (tasted good, but not out-of-this-world or anything. Size adequare but not huge). Side items (ordered separately) were our highlight. We loved the perfectly crispy fried pickles and sweet potato fries. Pickle dish was a little small (maybe 10 chips) but fries were plentiful. Came with ranch dressing, which was a nice surprise. I've been there twice now and had the veggie burger both times. It's definitely expensive but by now most people should know that before they even go there. The reason why it feels even more expensive is because asides from some of the local ingredients there is nothing else that screams luxury. There are no special crafted local ingredients, no special house made bun and it's also smaller than you'd expect. Last time I paid this much for a veggie burger was in downtown Brooklyn about 2 weeks ago, and it was at an all organic, non-gmo joint served with organic ketchup. So 1 star gets knocked off for a high cost without a proper follow through. Another star gets knocked off because the veggie burger has to be ranked against the best I've had which was Burger Village to which this doesn't compare. I think your clientele is saying something, loudly. Please adjust and come back strong. read more

I am not sure why the Yelp rating here is so low. The staff was friendly when I visited. It's a cute space. The parking is ok--easy in and out. I ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese and it was very very good. I get really nervous eating chicken when I travel, but I sliced it all the way thru to make sure it was thoroughly cooked. The bathroom was also very clean as was the rest of the restaurant. This is a place that has pretty good food and a nice friendly staff. I like the fact that they source locally too. The burgers are absolutely delicious, and the fries are stellar (the ones I had were hot out the oil, with a nice amount of salt to them). I haven't been earlier enough to try the doughnuts and yet to have a shake, but they are most certainly on the to-do list. The only real down side here is that they are a bit expensive. I understand having local ingredients means that there has to be a bit of a premium, but when its $15 for a double cheeseburger here, some of the other options in the area become a bit more attractive, even if I would rather eat here. If they had prices that came down a bit I could definitely see myself stoping in here regularly for lunch. I also want to commend these guys for the customer service the provide. I had an incident when a communcation error between me and the person taking my order led to me receiving a burger I really did not want to eat and had to walk about a half mile to return (Im picky with toppings). We visited over Labor Day weekend and were very unimpressed. The service was slow, they were out of doughnuts, and the "loaded" tater tots were overcooked/burnt and did not come with sour cream (even though the menu clearly says that they are supposed to have sour cream). I did overhear one of the employees mentioning that they had recently had a lot of turnover in their staff and were very understaffed, so I guess it's possible that we came at a bad time.
