I went with the Purple Haze, which I was told is the least sweet option on the menu. I subbed in collagen and overall enjoyed it, though the banana definitely stole the spotlight in the flavor profile. The texture was just right, not too runny or icy, smooth and satisfying. My daughter chose the Toasted Avocado and liked it too: simple, fresh, and a nice non-smoothie option with a kick of pepper. I'm not the biggest fan of protein powders or add-ons in my smoothies, so I'll be coming back to explore more of their menu, hopefully to find something even more tailored to my taste. I paid extra for bananas and goji berries and they were lightly sprinkled on. The açaí base was very bland, they do not offer peanut butter and the other butters lack in flavor. I asked if I could get spirulina to replace the granola, I was told no, but they could put extra fruit. I thought that was kind of silly, I would have preferred spirulina instead of more fruit. I have visited Pure Green a couple of times in between teaching yoga classes down the street. It's convenient because I can walk right over from the studio and grab a smoothie to not only fuel up but kill some time without having to drive anywhere. When I order online it's ready when I get there to pick it up and when I order in it's only a few minute wait. I've tried smoothies and avocado toast - both I enjoyed much. I love how bright and spacious it is inside with lovely plants hanging around for extra cozy vibes. They're open later than most smoothie/juice bars which I appreciate. I would also add that the food offerings at Pure Green are in stride with how health conscious individuals will appreciate. For example, the Blue Cashew Toast is made from cashew butter and one of the healthiest fruits blueberries. As an antioxidant, blueberries are the best of all berries (although berries in general have enormous health benefits). Do the research and you will find people living in the "blue zones" of the world have diets high in Green Leafy Vegetables, onions, mushrooms, particular seeds and berries among other dietary items. It's interesting to me watching parents buy their young kids a pastry or even worse a breakfast sandwich at the neighboring Starbucks when they could be putting nutritious food into their kids bodies instead at Pure Greens. Nothing I have negative to say about Starbucks coffee, they get my money everyday for a coffee drink. But, to see parents serve up a Starbucks' toxic breakfast sandwiches and a Frappuccino on the go to their kids??? LOVE this smoothie spot! Located in Sellwood, it's a nice stop as you run errands or spend the day thrifting. The inside of the store is spacious, there's plenty of comfortable seating to chat with friends, and the decor is bright and energetic. Service here has always been very friendly. I've tried several of their smoothies before and thought that each and every one of them have been delicious. I love the variety in their smoothies as well as how they have food options, such as acai bowls and avocado toast. One thing that I'm not a big fan of is how expensive their smoothies are, however. Spending $10+ on a drink (+tip) seems to be a lot nowadays and it's hard to justify spending this much on a smoothie here regularly.
