Service was great and the place is very cute. This was my first time going here and I got the sea of blue smoothie. I recognize it was a less flavorful pick but I couldn't taste any banana or pick out much flavor. The smoothie was kind of watery and tasted faintly of watered down blueberry. Open to trying a different one another time and making a better choice. They had a very creative selection of smoothies and it was tough to choose. For the price though I was pretty bummed. Was very excited to try this place as it's vegan and gluten free! I 100% recommend the biscuits and gravy- it gives a thanksgiving feel. The flavor is great! The kale and veggies paired nicely. The only downfalls were the biscuits were to hard to cut with my fork. The inside of biscuit was soft but the outside was too hard; had to forcefully use my knife. The sweet potatoes were not soft, a bit crunchy. Unfortunately I did not like the walnut chorizo quesadilla. It was very messy to eat. I really had an overall great experience. After some time on this busy street, we stopped into Harlow to grab some food to go and I was happily excited to see the great options of seemingly plant based and focused vegan options, offering house made dishes. Me and my bestie got some chickpea tuna melt sandwiches with house made soup and a selection of fun different beverages offer in the fridges up front. The space / interior is beautiful with bright light peaking in, beautiful plants all around, big ceiling and unique features plus indoor and outdoor seating, some indoor being at the bar top. As always, the food here is great! I got the outlaw scramble which I found to be really tasty. The jackfruit was perfect for this dish. The portion size was very large which was nice, my party ended up just getting a couple dishes and sharing. I also tried the strawberry pancakes which were also good! I wish there were more smoothie options without banana. I ended up getting their monthly special Pride smoothie which I was pleased to see had the trans flag colors! Staff was lovely. I've had a golden latte before and it was good. I even like th cafe and location. Why so few stars? The cookies, like many other reviews. They're terrible. Dry and crumbly for both the peanut butter and the trail cookies. I understand the trail can be difficult, but even non-gluten free cafes can make a gluten free peanut butter cookie. I couldn't even finish it, and I refuse to waste food. I opted out of the roasted walnuts on top. The serving size was a lot larger than I expected. It is a splittable dish. I enjoyed all of the different flavors and textures in this bowl. The pesto was a great sauce for all of the veggies and eggs. I loved this bowl! I also ordered the flamango smoothie. It came with strawberry, mango, banana and almond milk. It was refreshing. The interior of Harlow is really cute and inviting. It has lights, plants, and wooden tables. There is also bar style seating. Parking is street parking and we were lucky to park right in front. I've been eating out so much that it's that time again to watch what I put in my body. I decided that I needed more greens in my life, so I thought I would pop into one of Portland's more popular plant based cafes and juice bar. I ordered the Betty Bowl with their house made lemon ginger dressing. The Betty Bowl is grain based (quinoa or brown rice) but full of kale. This bowl definitely met my expectations in my health food checklist and tasted great. I also ordered a smoothie to go with my meal, which really brightened my day. With food like this, I can be converted to a vegetarian. Lol, I am not going to though, there's still too many food options in Portland to try. I had to remind them about my drink which then took another minute or two but that's not a big deal. I got the seasonal pasta (butternut squash, mushrooms, spinach in sage cream sauce), a ginger pineapple soda, and a no-bake cookie. The pasta and soda were really good. The sauce was super rich and had a texture that I loved. It was a pretty big plate but with lots of vegetables so it wasn't just a massive pile of pasta. I liked that the ginger soda was more zingy and dry than sweet. The no-bake cookie was not very cookie-like, it was really more like a (cookie-shaped) chocolate bar with seeds and dried fruit. Very dense. It was too big for me to finish the whole thing in one go. It was okay but not what I expected, which is kind of my fault for not taking a closer look when I picked it out. I liked Harlow before the Pandemic. Many of the menu items that I knew and loved are no longer offered. In addition the prices went up around the Pandemic, and I think for the food offered a complete rip off. I ordered the Utopian Dream salad, and the dream was a nightmare of sorts. I expected all these amazing flavors and ingredients. For almost $15 to have a bowl of mostly kale is a joke . I even thought they got my order incorrect. I didn't taste really any of the ingredients except for Kale, salad dressing, and some kind of shredded carrots, and something else I think green papaya not for sure. It was like 50 cents of ingredients. The staff is nice, but on the slow slide. I don't think they have enough staff. The sign of a greedy and cheap owner. So, I feel for the staff. The decor is nice, and I like the layout of the place, and all the living plants. Fitting since it's a plant based restaurant. Came here with a couple of friends who have significant food allergies. We were really excited to try out things we knew were safe for them to eat. This is a cute cafe style eatery with significant space inside and shaded and unshaded seating outside along the sidewalk. It would be difficult to bring a large group here, but seems like a good spot for a health conscious couple getting weekend brunch. I got the outlaw scramble and the mushroom steamer, and my friends got the biscuits and gravy with a side of tempeh and the Mac and cheese with chili. My friend who got the biscuits and gravy was very impressed by them. She shared a bit with me and I have to say it was pretty good. I might even like it better than regular biscuits and gravy. She also shared the tempeh with me, and it was probabbly the most flavorful item there. Quite tasty. It was sweet and umami and had a great mouth feel. That said, I really regretted my own order of the outlaw scramble. It wasn't very flavorful, the raw kale was jarring and a weird contrast to the other textures, and the eggs weren'tcooked very well. There was supposedly jalapeño sauce on it, but it was not spicy at all. It also wasn't a scramble; a scramble usually involves cooking all the ingredients together. This was just eggs on top of all the other ingredients, which had not been cooked. It would have been more accurate to call it a bowl. Even the mushroom steamer was bland. The spices were nice and subtle, but there was no hint of the puff coffee or the cardamom agave syrup. It just tasted like lightly spiced almond milk. My friends and I also all felt as though the staff here felt inconvenienced by our presence. The person at the register seemed mildly annoyed that she had to talk to us when we each placed our orders. There was also no check in to see how the food was after it was dropped off at our table. Overall, I found the service lacking, and while some of the food was very good and all of it was very healthy and offered lots of options to people with food sensitivities; some of it was unpalatable and poorly described on the menu. At first, I was enjoying the meal all right. But about 1/2 through I couldn't eat anymore. It just didn't come together for me like other bowls I've had of a similar vein. Maybe it was the jackfruit not blending well with the pesto, the kale was nearly raw. Maybe it's just me. My friend ordered the utopian dream salad and she commented that the noodle base was tough and needed to have been cooked more. I'd try a smoothie here, but other than that it's not my kind of place.
