We need more spots like this in Miami! Wow, I loved it so much! Located in a small shopping center towards the end of Doral, this spot seems like a local hole in the wall. My intern recommended Pure Joy to grab a bite as we co-worked and it didn't miss! Healthy, delicious options were my favorite part of it all. I mean we indulged in almond flour tequenos, mushroom flatbread, also made with almond flour and a carne mechada arepa! Everything was filled with flavor but didn't feel heavy at all. My husband and I ate here on Saturday at about 11 AM. There was no wait, we were seated right away at a table for two. The inside was so cute and I loved the style. I love that they offer other options for people with certain allergies, diets and preferences like gluten free and vegan options. The service was good. The coffee took some time to come, but it was good. We got the mini chicken empanada shareable... it only came with five mini empanadas... very little for the price in my opinion, however, they were very delicious. The chicken inside was so good. I wish it came with more, for the price and it being a shareable menu item it felt like very little. For the meal I got The Avo One which is whole wheat bread with avocado, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions and sesame seeds on top. Honestly, I did not really love it. The avocado did not taste fresh, it did not taste like it came from a freshly cut avocado, but from a container of pre-packaged smashed avocados that have been in the fridge for a while... I don't know if that's the case, but that's what it tasted like. The toast did not come with eggs so I had to order eggs on the side. My husband got chicken and waffles... this also was not very good. I had a bite of the waffles and they were not warm and tasted a bit like eggos... my husband did not like the chicken very much either. The total was much higher than I expected, and although the ambience of the place was nice, and the employees were great... for the quality of the food it just did not feel worth it. Pure joy is a cute and friendly place. Our server was so sweet with my girls, took her time to explain menu items and answer questions we had. I started with a decaf oat milk latte that was very flavorful and not watered down. My husband a regular latte and my oldest had a mango smoothie that was made from fresh fruits and thick. I had the banana pancakes they were delicious, perfectly cooked and topped with fresh fruits. Portions were just right not too much or too little. My husband had the mushroom flatbread on almond flour (this was hands down our favorite dish). The flat bread was perfectly crunchy yet soft at the same time, loaded with mushroom, homemade almond ricotta cheese, arugula, and pickled onions. My oldest had the avocado toast which was very flavorful. They accommodated my youngest request of mini pancakes (they weren't very good tho, dry and hard). Super cute cafe in Midtown Doral with a feel good vibe! I passed by here spontaneously when I was looking for a healthy-ish lunch place in the area and Yelp came to the rescue. Everyone was super inviting. They offer free wi-fi and there's plenty of seating inside and outside. The place is decorated super nice. I ordered a matcha latte and a Kikiriki arepa which comes with perico (yes, I always have to laugh reading this too thinking of the word's other meaning but it this case they meant scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions). The arepa came with a coconut cilantro sauce which was super yummy. I loved that they have contactless payment where you can scan the bill and pay online. This place is a gem. So glad to have discovered this fresh creative kitchen on this side of town. It can be hard to find healthy foods that actually taste good that you won't get tired of. Thankfully, Pure Joy has so many options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert as well as juices and acai bowls. So far, I love how all of their food tastes. And I can indulge because it's not heavy at all and it seems like they're always creating something new and fresh. Believe it or not, I'm fairly picky with the type of foods that I eat in the sense that I try to avoid foods that are highly processed, are high in sodium, and/or contain lots of preservatives/artificial ingredients. This is not what you'll find here at Pure Joy. Add to all of this the pleasant ambiance and the fact that the servers have been kind, attentive, and informative. First the positive. The place is cute and small. The Reina arepa is amazing. Service is nice. Now the not so great. I went for the gluten free options. The pancakes are very mushy. When I ask they say it because they add bananas. The waffle is very dry and cold also the fruit is just regular fruit nothing special. I guess for me a waffle should be warm and crispy. Also when you order American coffee they do not have creamer, if you want they can sell you a small amount of milk which for me is ridiculous when you have coffee. Wonderful find. To start I appreciate the light and inviting interior. The menu took some exploring but my waiter was patient. Tried to deliberate over avocado toast (which I could get anywhere) and the kikiriki. So the kikiriki....Obviously I tried something new. He advised me it was filling. INDEED. The fluffy scrambled eggs had a nice balance of slightly crunchy onions, tomato and cilantro...nothing crazy. But then they tucked into a pocket of cornmeal based bread which was grilled. It was like a pancake and tamale had a baby over a panini press. Delightful yet filling. The sauce on the side seemed to be a sour cream based chimichurri number. A tad sour but so fresh. Not heavy like cheese in the morning (on a hot Miami day) so I quite enjoyed it as well. My cortado espresso was also delightful. This is not a roaster, so I won't pontificate over the beans.
