BUYER BEWARE My 17 year old daughter came in today 5-8-26 for a basic facial and came out paying $258 (with a $50 dollar coupon I was told she could receive.) WHAT?? She had NO idea what she would be spending, and I think this is ridiculous they would charge her this much for this service and did not know the cost. She is already seeing a dermatologist too and just wanted some extractions to be removed. I called the Oak Brook, IL location where she went and asked to speak to a Manager about this. The receptionist was the RUDEST person and said she paid for what they did and nothing could be done about it. And it does not matter if you talk to a Manager about it. This person needs to be fired for how rude she was and she did eventually hang up on me when I asked for the Managers name. This is totally unacceptable behavior for a new customer who had questions on a service. I was going to have my wife come here and also get work done but now I changed my mind. I rarely write bad reviews BUT this is a must. There is a reason Pure Med Spa has a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau. I've been to Pure Med Spa 3 times and decided this was my go-to spa even though I live half an hour away and I receive marketing texts from them Every. Single. Day. UGH! It was time for my Botox maintenance so I clicked through the $7.99 Botox July sale text, filled out their required information and specifically included the $7.99 Botox July Sale in my appointment request. When I arrived, I was informed that I must purchase 61 UNITS of Botox to get the $7.99 price!!! THAT IS CRAZY! This is the very definition of Bait & Switch. The staff actually admitted to the dishonest business practice and confessed they absolutely hate it, but yes, this is the tactic management/owner uses to get customers in the door. Wow! So they made me a "deal" with a different product. Since I live half an hour away I agreed to it. They got an extra $100 bucks out of me. I also made it very clear that I will never return. That extra $100 cost them a loyal customer and several thousands of dollars in future business. Ironically, as I was driving to Pure Med Spa, I was chatting with a friend extolling the virtues of this spa. Believe me, my friend now knows how they do business. Regarding Repeated Misrepresentation of Restylane Promotion - I have reached out numerous times to speak to the doctor that owns this place - no response. There is one nurse injector, specifically, that in my experience, is nothing more than an over-qualified sales person. Here is the email I sent to the company and never heard back. Horrible! I request this email be directed to the male doctor that owns Pure Med Spa and Dr. Danuta - I am writing to provide feedback regarding a series of experiences across multiple locations that have resulted in a significant loss of trust in your brand. Last week, I scheduled an appointment at your Oak Brook location specifically to purchase the advertised Restylane under-eye promotion for $399. I clearly stated this to the injector, Nicole, at the outset of my visit. Before any meaningful discussion could take place, she dismissed my request and insisted that under eye treatment was not what I "needed," instead pushing cheek filler at an estimated cost of approximately $1,500. I did not feel heard, respected, or clinically consulted. Rather than receiving expert guidance grounded in education and collaboration, the interaction felt prescriptive and sales-driven. I ultimately chose to leave without receiving any treatment. Instead of earning the $399 I arrived prepared to spend, your company received no revenue from that visit. After this experience at the Oak Brook office, I scheduled an appointment at your downtown location. I live in Batavia, Illinois, which required an hour-and-twenty-minute drive, paid parking, and significant effort on my part to see a different injector--hoping for a more transparent experience. At that appointment, I was again told that the advertised $399 promotion would actually cost $550 because the treatment was for the under-eye area and "required an additional level of skill." This explanation was presented as standard policy, despite the promotion containing no terms, conditions, exclusions, or qualifiers regarding injection site or variable pricing. This is deeply concerning. If under-eye placement truly requires additional expertise and cost, that information should be clearly disclosed in the promotion. Without that transparency, this practice is misleading and undermines client trust. Because I had already traveled a considerable distance, I paid the $550. However, I did so under protest and left the appointment feeling manipulated rather than cared for. Given that the promotion explicitly advertised a $399 Restylane treatment with no stated exclusions, I am requesting a refund of the $150 difference that I was charged beyond the promotional price. I have been a client of your salons for several years and expect your injectors to operate as trusted medical professionals--not as sales representatives incentivized to upsell. The consistency of this experience across multiple locations suggests a broader issue with training, transparency, and promotional integrity. I ask candidly: is this the standard of medical professionalism you want representing your business? I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response regarding both the requested refund and how these practices will be addressed moving forward. The injector did not properly do my lip filler and my filler ended up migrating to my upper lip, lower lip, AND MY CHEEK! I ended up spending an extra $500 to get my botched filler from Pure Med Spa Oak Brook dissolved. I contacted the merchant and they ignored me. I reached out several times (6 in fact) To give them the opportunity to do the right thing before writing this review but they chose not to. Let this be your warning. DO NOT PURCHASE A GROUPON OR GO TO THIS SPA. They are unethical and who knows where they get their product from since it is is so cheap. I will be contacting the BBB next. read more
