If you value your time, money, and sanity, do not hire this company. We hired them for my mom's move, and it was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They are paid by the hour, and it became instantly clear that their entire strategy is to milk the clock for as much money as possible: -Zero Sense of Urgency: They showed up an hour late to begin with. Then, instead of getting to work, the crew spent a full hour "assessing the situation and getting the truck ready." -Painfully Slow Loading: It took three hourly workers nine excruciating hours just to load the van. They moved like they were trudging through wet cement. -Paid Lunch on Our Time: After finally loading the truck, they drove off to get food while still on the clock, leaving us waiting at the drop-off destination for over an hour. -Brutal Unloading: The drop-off and unload process was just as ridiculously slow as the load-in. They took advantage of my mom, dragged out a basic move into an all-day ordeal, and charged us for every minute they spent slacking off and grabbing lunch. I had a mixed experience with this company. Pros: Got my stuff from one place to another with no damage; communicative; on time. Cons: Would've liked to see a little more hustle throughout the move. No one was moving quickly at any point (it was not a hot day); it took an oddly long time to get started; they took apart my entire bed frame instead of just taking the headboard off, like I'd recommended; and it took less time the last time I moved with 2 movers as opposed to the 3 I had here & I've only added a couch & desk since then). Scheduler has an attitude & poor customer service. I asked for gloves to be used when handling my light-colored bed frame (even said it again in person at the drop-off location while they were assembling my bed & got an "okay"), but there were no gloves in sight. And, as others have mentioned in their reviews, I was pressured to write a review "now" when paying but declined. read more

I have mixed feelings about my move. On one hand, booking was very easy and Pure Moving was able to accommodate my move in 2 days notice. My movers communicated when they would arrive and showed up on time. I feel they overall handled my belongings with care and things went smoothly and efficiently. I was moving things from a 10x10 storage unit into a 1 bedroom apartment about an hour and a half away, with 1 stop to pick up a couch along the way. Total time took about 5.5 hours. On the other hand, things got weird when it was time to pay. I didn't appreciate feeling pressured when they tried to tell me that a 30% tip was the standard. I gave them 20%, which I felt was a good tip and standard for a good job. I was also pressured into writing both a Yelp and Google review, leaving them 5 stars as they hovered over me. Yury and Gino were great. Alex was very responsive via Yelp project quotes and then via email. We had a last minute move, and Pure gave us a reasonable quote and timeline. Quote was transparent with no hidden fees. $129/hour for two people + $39 truck charge all in to move within Berkeley. Tip wasn't listed on the quote like some other moving company quotes, but we tipped them ourselves separately. They also had a 7% cash discount which made it more affordable. Quote was on par with other moving companies we inquired in the Bay Area but they had the soonest availability for us. They gave us a 2-5PM arrival window, and also let us know their ETA 50 minutes within that window. Yury and Gino are a good team, and they worked together very efficiently. Total time charged was 5 hours and 45 minutes, timed to the dot after we signed the liability waiver. We had multiple flights of stairs between the property we were leaving and the property we were moving to, so it was definitely a ton of work. I will say they needed some supervision and direction on where things go and whatnot. I did label the boxes with the designated room, but they were moving quickly (which I appreciated) so the labelling became obsolete. I also had to remind them a few times which items still had to be taken. They used blankets and shrink wrap to protect items like wooden dressers. At the end, they offered to let us look inside the truck to make sure everything was taken out. We would definitely use Pure Moving again! read more

After eight years of housing waitlists and lotteries, I finally got approved to move into permanent housing for low-income seniors in the Mission district. I'm very grateful and I think I will love my new home. I hope this will be my last move because I hate moving and I never want to move again. Pure Moving did a great job getting me moved out of a difficult location with lots of stairs and mobility/accessibility challenges into a third floor apartment in a building with elevator, only a mile from my previous home. Their two guys were friendly, patient and professional, and they did everything the way I wanted, carefully and thoroughly. I would hire this company again if I ever had to do another move. But I should have read the fine print more carefully. I mean the part about the customer assuming liability for payment of any parking citations. I don't drive, so I never bothered to notice the signs on the block about street cleaning on Wednesday mornings. The driver of the truck didn't notice either. So when the fine of $105 was added to my final moving cost (just hourly rate for two-person crew plus flat truck fee, with no extra charges), the expense was higher than I planned for. I would have given the movers a bigger tip, but I spent the last bit of cash I had on hand to qualify for the 7% cash payment discount. Great company. But be sure to read all the fine print and beware of meter maids and parking tickets. read more

I totally forgot about it in the moving chaos. They told me about it and handed it to me, not a dollar missing. That's when I knew I made the right choice picking them. - They were attentive and very careful when I asked them to beware my cats and not to let them escape during the move.
