We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

I had Carlos and his team assemble our European style kitchen cabinets. They were made of finished…read morewood and lacquer cabinets. We sent our kitchen assembly instructions ahead of time to make sure they were aware. My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

I am extremely satisfied with Xu's moving company. Communication was great, booking was easy, especially if you are ready with the $100 deposit. Once the deposit is received, Ariel (who is great by the way) will send a confirmation. You will also receive a confirmation/reminder a day prior to the move. We used a three man service for a 3 bed 2 bath single family home w/ 2-car garage and a yard. Three guys showed up on time at 0800 ready to go. One asked me what was going and what was staying and they literally took it from there! I had things already packed and they secured my boxes even better. They packed unpacked items and handled all the items with care. Prior to wrapping and packing, if they noticed any marks or scratches, they made you aware of it to show that they did not ding up your furniture. Once the very large truck was full to the max, they will leave and meet you at your new location. Once at the new location they unpacked everything and put it exactly where you want. All items that they disassembled were assembled and exactly where i needed. Once its all done they check in to see if theres anything else needed. Once you give them the OK, you pay for the service minus the 100 deposit. I paid $1,261.00 for 8 hours of hard work the three guys. They did a phenomenal job. I will use them again and definitely recommend. Ill never move my own house again!!!!!! read more

This is the absolute best moving company I have ever used. I've moved a few times around the Bay Area, and have been disappointed with a few of the other moving companies as they were either really slow (over double the estimated amount of time) or handled my items carelessly to the point of damaging them. Today was my second time using Xu's Moving, and they were just as wonderful as the first time they assisted me. I had a bit of a convoluted move today as I had two locations I had to pick my stuff up from, and the people at Xu's Moving were incredibly accommodating. The manager, Ariel, is always super quick to respond, polite, and helpful in answering any and all questions that you may have. And the movers are respectful, professional, incredibly efficient, fast, and handle all items with care. Moreover, today's movers went out of their way to help me (1) sort through my storage unit to figure out what to bring and what to leave behind (and move everything I wanted to leave back into the storage unit), and (2) reattach a mirror to my dresser when none of us knew how it was meant to attach. I couldn't recommend this moving company enough. They will always be my first call when I need help moving in the Bay. read more

Hired Xu's moving company in March 2024 to move from a multi-story condo that had extensive and twisting stairs (no elevators) to a multi-story house. Total move time took about 10 hours but the Xu moving team were amazingly professional and courteous. First, they were very open to my direction, everything from where to place carpeting to not damage my hardwood floors to which items to be packed with which other items. The team never complained and focused on the task at hand. Second, they were very efficient. We had almost 10 years of stuff that was to be moved and they were able to do it all, including moving extremely heavy items such as a treadmill, motorized couch sets, and bed frames which they disassembled and reassembled flawlessly. Finally, they went above and beyond with their efforts to move everything appropriately. When we found out a king size headboard couldn't fit up the stairs, they creatively found a way to lift up the headboard from the patio to the second story balcony and then onward to the final bedroom. Overall, would highly recommend to anyone who has a large or complex move. No complaints whatsoever, no damage to the house, and no damage to any of the moved items. 5 stars! read more

The whole process from beginning to end was super easy. I got multiple quotes through Yelp and after much pondering, decided on Xu's moving company because I read in another review that the movers take their shoes off on carpet. That was a big deal for me because I have kids and we had just washed the carpets so really wanted to try and keep everything as clean as possible. On the big day, movers were prompt and worked really hard. To say we have a lot of stuff is an understatement, but they guys were careful and efficient. We tried to pack as much as we could, but there were still a good amount of misc items that weren't packed. Our movers helped pack, wrap, disassemble big furniture, reassemble, and everything in between. It took 4.5 hours to get our belongings in the truck and then 3 hours to unload. We had stairs at both the old place and new place, but they were not phased by it at all. The movers only took 1 20 min break for lunch, despite us telling them to take a rest. They were very hardworking. I would absolutely use them again for our next move and highly recommend this company! read more

I had a great experience with Xu's Moving Company. The two movers who helped me were extremely efficient and handled my furniture and delicate items with great care. Despite a slight language barrier, as the movers were Chinese men who didn't speak fluent English, they were able to understand enough to accommodate my requests and get the job done seamlessly. After comparing their services with other movers in the area, Xu's provided one of the best values with no hidden fees--a rarity in this industry. If you're looking for efficiency, professionalism, and excellent service at a reasonable cost, I highly recommend this moving company. The only minor downside is that communication can be a bit challenging if you don't speak Mandarin, but they still managed to deliver a great experience. read more

After researching many moving companies and reading the reviews, I went with this company. It was the BEST choice I could have made. I have nothing but praise for the service they provided. Starting from the quick response to my quote request and questions I had regarding my move, to scheduling my move on the exact day and time I requested. The 4 man crew was on time and extremely quick. They worked non-stop from beginning to end. My move only took 5 hours. They moved me from a third floor 3 bed 2 bath apt, with a TINY elevator, to a two story 4 bed, 2bath condo, with a narrow staircase. And I have big, heavy furniture. They made my move stress free. I had an incredible experience working with this team and would highly recommend Xu's Movers. Their people was extremely helpful in answering my questions about my move. They charge one standard rate per hour. Their helped me with my move and were very professional, quick, and efficient. I had a few fragile items which they carefully wrapped in blankets, some furniture, and a lot of heavy boxes. They also provided a couple of wardrobe boxes which helped with some miscellaneous items. I am lucky I booked with Xu's Moving company after my regular movers that I had used for last 3 moves didnt have time on the date of moving. I corresponded with Ariel on SMS messages , she was super -responsive and didnt let the ball fall at any point. The movers came on time were really efficient and helped me set up even my internet router and cable. My new apartment was up a couple of flight of stairs which meant they had to really lift everything bodily, but they were most disciplined and helpful. I highly recommend these guys. I was moving from Walnut Creek, CA to Pleasanton, CA and XU Moving provided me with good and reliable service. First I talked with Ariel and she was very responsive. Also, she sent me her company certificate of liability, per my request. On a moving day, the team of three guys arrived on time and did a good job moving my 1-bedroom apartment. I appreciate the way the team wrapped all my furniture - they used moving blankets and tons of stretch foil to secure every piece of furniture. Fantastic movers! Called Ariel a few days before my move and she provided a very good rate. Two movers, Jerry and Johnny, came 15 minutes early on the day of the move and got right to work. We moved the entire 1 bedroom apartment, including travel to the storage, in exactly 3 hours! We were moving from San Mateo to Oakland. Had a great experience with Xu's Moving Company assisting in my small move. Making the appointment was easy and response was quick with Ariel over Yelp. They came perfectly on time! All I had to do was point out the pieces I needed moving and they took care of the rest, including disassembling and reassembling a bed frame for me. Costs were also very upfront and there were no other fees besides the hourly rate and flat fee. I would definitely recommend them as movers! read more

Best moving experience! Super impressed with the movers' speed. They took very good care of the furniture and cost was super competitive. I initially did quote comparison with the top 5 moving companies ranked on Yelp, Xu's company came in with the best rate. We had a pretty complicated moving job with stairs on both ends and no elevator so we budgeted extra time. Xu's movers finished in half of the time we expected. Highly recommended!!! read more

Ariel was very polite and responsive. Guys showed up early with the truck and were very professional and courteous. Quickly but carefully loaded our stuff up and met us at the final destination. We were just going to rent truck and do this move ourself but we figured we would give Xu's Moving Company a message thru Yelp and the rest was so easy. They were very careful with my furniture, wrapped and protected everything. With that in mind, it took about twice as long as the estimate was to move everything. even though I packed everything myself. with double drive time (required by CA law) it ended up being over 12 hours, so the final charge was almost twice as much as the estimate. and there was only 1 container with dishes that was completely shattered. They probably dropped it or dropped something on it, but didn't say anything. I only found out later at night when I was unpacking it. Otherwise they were awesome. They did not waste any time. They were working very hard all day. so if you get an estimate, double it, as with all the wrapping and protecting your stuff, it takes much longer. They offered me an option not protecting my stuff, but I chose to have it protected.

Accidents happen and with the Flying House Movers you'll only get the run around to resolving it. I played the fool and initially thought they had done a great job, so much so that I bought the movers lunch on both days and tipped them very generously. If you want to use this moving company, be prepared and check all your items immediately and report them to Stan, he will take a long time getting back to you and then come up with excuses for the delays.
