Booked an appointment on ZocDoc, but when I got to the office I was told the doctor was out because of an emergency. When I asked why no one had informed me (so that I could reschedule) they did not have an answer for me. Note that my appointment was later in the afternoon, so they would have had plenty of time. I ended up seeing another doctor instead, after waiting longer than usual. I was billed a copay even though I informed the receptionist that this was my annual well visit, which does not require a copay under my insurance plan. I continued to be harassed and to receive multiple emails about this bill, even after emailing the clinic and completing many outreach requests through their portal. On top of all of this, it was brought to my attention at my next OBGYN visit elsewhere that the doctors at Pure neglected to inform me about irregular test results. They did not follow up with me at all, resulting in many additional medical and personal complications for me that are still present to this day. This was a huge oversight and error on the part of the Pure OBGYN team. Lack of organization is rampant, and it's clear based also on the fact that I'm still being harassed about this bill two years later (despite all my outreach), that they do not care about their patients. I absolutely DO NOT recommend. This is a scam disguised as a clinic. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars, based on the doctors, as they are great! But with the front desk and some of the doctor assistants, is a hit or miss. I have met very nice people in the front desk, but sometimes, they have these girls that seem as if they do not want to be there. They act in a very immature and unprofessional way. They remind me of the rebellious teenagers that do not want to listen to their parents. Same with some of the doctors assistants. Some have been wonderful but others, are short, rude, and waiting to role their eyes at you for the smallest reason. But the doctors, so far they have all been very kind and professional. read more

I strongly recommend not seeing Dr. Stephanie Pollitz, who is incredibly rude and judgmental. This place (Pure OBGYN) is supposed to be somewhere for women to be comfortable keeping their reproductive health in check. Why demand that I come here more often if you're contributing to such a hostile environment? She criticized me when I didn't do the best job of explaining my medical history as well as my family's who I'm not close with. Also she was quite condescending towards me for not being consistent with birth control, rhetorically asking me if I wanted to get pregnant. She even tried to push a hormonal IUD on me and she questioned where I got my (non-hormonal) IUD removed since she only saw insertion in my history. Why does the location of where I got it removed matter? Are you going to contact those people? She also mocked my anxiety towards use of the speculum by telling me "you survived" once it was removed. And when she gave me a better understanding of test results I received years ago, she acted as if my shock annoyed her. Her reaction was "I don't know what to tell you. They explained this to you (back then)." First of all you weren't there. Second of all you could have just kindly said "sorry you had to find out this way." Lastly, while to doctor was speaking I was looking at the wall because I feel that I can focus better on what someone is saying if I'm not making eye contact, and she waved her hand and scolded me "to make sure I'm listening." I feel like during this entire appointment the doctor's goal was to make me feel dumb instead of making me feel like my health is being taken care of. read more

During the appointment she listened thoroughly to me and provided me a level of comfort I haven't felt at other OBGYN's. Doctors are friendly and have great bedside manner. I've seen Dr. Tou, Dr. Guerra, and most recently Dr. Pinard and they were all friendly and knowledgeable. This review is based on the front desk staff. Some of them can be really rude and short over the phone especially when there's an issue of miscommunication. I called to discuss my results because I went in for a YI test not an STI test but saw STI test results and no YI results on my portal even though the doctor said she ordered one. When I called to ask, the receptionist claimed she couldn't see the order on the portal even though I was staring right at it and she implied that I asked for the wrong test to be ordered which is why only the STI results are visible. I came in for a YI, I specifically *requested* a test for YI, and was prescribed medicine BY THE DOCTOR just in case I had one...and she wants to tell me there was never any test? ...O.K. Ultimately she just said "we'll have someone else call you back to go over your chart with you" and that was that. This isn't a dealbreaker for the business as a whole but I will say that the last thing a person wants when they are calling for sensitive info is: 1. An employee who doesn't know how to navigate the health portal. 2. An employee who gets an attitude when they're asked for clarification. Now I am going to a different clinic to get the *same test* done because I still have no answers and my symptoms have returned. When you're dealing with someone's health and an office isn't following up with results that's a problem. Even if the test was inconclusive and I had to go in for another one that's at least an answer, but you can't just order the wrong test and never follow up or leave people in the dark. Also, they ask you to leave a review every time you leave the office so that it will improve their rating. I used to do it but I've deleted all of my past reviews after reading sooo many other people who've had similar issues with front desk communication. read more

The most efficient annual visit of my life. I was in and out in 20 minutes WITH blood work. Shantal at the front desk was a welcome sight at 8am on a Tuesday and helped re-bill the visit to eliminate any copay for this annul visit. Dr. Yoo is sensitive and succinct and I really appreciate her recall of detail from my visit over a year ago. If you're going for an annual exam make sure to specify and ask if/why you would be charged a copay. I think their default is to charge you and folks with insurance shouldn't have a copay for preventative visits. read more

Here's the thing: I read the 1 star reviews that discussed billing issues and thought, yeah but I know how to deal with insurance. I've fought things before. I'll be okay. So I came here. It was my first pregnancy. And I had good medical attention, for the most part. (I had my membrane swept on the day I was due without being informed or giving consent for that procedure, but that's another story.) I was over 35 but low risk in every other way. Easy pregnancy. Easy delivery. And I had called Aetna ahead of time to ask what my out of pocket costs would be. 100% covered for pre-natal treatments and $500 a night for hospital stay. Okay. I can budget for that. Then when I came to Pure their billing folks said I had a $50 copay for my first three visits but after that it would be fully covered. Okay. Fine. I'm not going to fight over $150. At every visit they give you a form to sign to consent to an ultrasound. I figured this was consenting to be touched. But apparently it's consenting to pay any extra fees because an ultrasound at every prenatal visit is NOT standard care. (You sign this very quickly while they are hustling to get you in and out.) Of course given how long it takes to bill insurance and then get information back from them, it was nearly my due date before I knew anything was up. Then the bills start to roll in. Long story short: Pure OBGYN wants me to pay a $50 copay for every visit that included an ultrasound, which was EVERY SINGLE ONE. That's 15 visits. $600 more than the $150 which was already more than $0 that Aetna told me. My baby is now 6 months old and this STILL isn't sorted. They just keep sending the bill saying it's overdue. Every time I called it was with someone new who gave contradictory information. And no one will admit these ultrasounds are not medically necessary and that that information is not given to first-time pregnant people who don't know any better. Short version: Do not go here. You will waste hours of your life on billing instead of enjoying your baby (or, you know, sleeping). read more

I am not one to write a yelp review but this place was awful. I came in for a regular wellness check, and each test I was given was performed by a new doctor. Sometimes, there were students (maybe, they never told me) on the wall watching these tests. It was so exposing and they didn't communicate anything to me as it was happening. It was an extremely uncomfortable situation to be in. I didn't think it was normal for over two people to be in the room, watching me in this circumstance. It didn't help that I was never explained who these people were or why so many different people had to perform each test. I felt violated. read more

I'm so mad because I wrote a review and it didn't post. I wanted to write this review for anyone who is nervous, scared, anxious to make an appointment. I had to find a new gynecologist because my previous doctor retired. After a referral of PureObGyn I finally made the appointment. This has been one of the best decisions I've made for myself in the past year. From the very moment you walk in the environment is bright, chic, welcoming and the seating is very comfortable...as a plus sized girl the seats are very sturdy but still cute. The receptionist are polite, efficient and helpful. Adrianna has the best energy to help you with vitals and get ready for your appointment. Dr. Palmer!!!!! Dr. Palmer is who I was waiting for. She's amazing!! She listens to you, answers all your questions, you never feel rushed, you feel heard, she goes over each step, each tool and it's life changing. Dr. Palmer is incredible, kind and has an amazingly talented team behind her!! Make the appointment!! I waited 3 years because of fear. Finally got answers to my PCOS journey and came out with action plan to address my concerns

This was my first time with pure OB and Dr.Pollitz was very attentive and was great. I have no complaints about her at all. She was wonderful. I didn't really care for the front desk staff though. She was pretty stand off and not friendly at all. I would say cold and not personable at all. Now my issue is with the billing system and have to stress that say they are way off and not using proper billing codes! I was charged for pretty much everything. I have decent insurance coverage for women's care and have never had an issue with my old gynecology office. I decided to try Pure OB on Madison Avenue based off of the location close to my work. I went for my annual check up and for having PCOS. I was bleeding for months so the doctor and I agreed to have an IUD inserted. It has helped so far and because I had menstrual problems and the doctor recommended I get an endometrial biopsy and I agreed based off of insurance coverage. Then boom I received an invoice and was in complete shock for charges for $5000. How is that even possible? I contacted the billing dept and haven't heard back yet. I'm so aggravated with the billing process and will have to reconsider if I will go back for my annual or any other procedures. It's a shame because I really do like just the doctor because she was very knowledgeable and I appreciated her advice. read more

Worst experience I've EVER had with a doctor's office. I found them through Zocdoc because of great reviews and heard from others that they really liked it- I'll never do that again. First, the doctor I saw (Marina Kuperman) was extremely cold and judgemental and didn't make me feel comfortable at all; I'll leave it at that. Next, she prescribed different medication (which went against what we had discussed based on my health issues) without consulting me after the appointment, and it was extremely difficult to get in contact with ANYONE in the office to straighten the issue out. It was clear no one had even looked at my medical history before prescribing the medication. Then, almost 6 months later, I'm billed for my annual visit which is supposed to be FREE but showed almost $400 for my co-insurance. The business part of this office is a complete disaster. I thought I was there for an annual exam but they added on other screenings without telling me, and charged me for a test that didn't even happen. Again, it was almost impossible to get in contact with anyone to straighten out the matter. DO NOT go here. read more

Rude front desk woman. Three patients waiting and she gets all stressed out and rude the patients waiting. Appointment was at 8 sat in the lobby until 830. Not helpful in the new patient process either. Had me fill out an entire profile on an iPad to ask the exact same questions again because their system doesn't connect? Why would I have to fill that out in the first place? Dr Woo only spent five minutes in the room. She addressed concerns but in no way would I say thorough. Disappointed overall. read more

Unprofessional and practice bait-and-switch. I had an appointment to replace my Nexplanon at 11.40, and they had a roomful of patients whose appointments were running behind 45 mins to 2 hours! Then when I got in they said they can't replace my Nexplanon even though the office confirmed multiple times before the appointment that they can. I was leaving for a 6 weeks trip and want to know my birth control won't expire! They then tried to charge my insurance for services I didn't ask for, extra unnecessary tests, etc. - rather than actually doing real work. When I demanded to cancel the appointment, they refused to send any written email to confirm that they won't charge my insurance for tests I didn't ask for. It's a racket here read more

I have so much medical anxiety but Dr. Ho and the team at Pure OBGYN made my first ever pelvic exam and pap an absolute breeze. The office is super cute and they had me vibing out to Miley Cyrus in the waiting room which actually quelled my nerves quite a bit. I am hoping that my experience is an isolated one, but given the long waiting room times where I witnessed other frustrated patients, I highly doubt it. I believe that Pure OBGYN has great doctors that are not able to perform to the best of their abilities given the terrible management of this place. A few incidents I can highlight- 1) Having me come in at 8am for a test/ultrasound when the specialist isn't scheduled to come in until 930. I was put in a room and sat undressed waiting for an hour. This happened 2/3 visits. 2) Was frantically called by the office to come in for an imperative test- citing that if I do not come in a certain time frame, I won't be able to get the test. I informed them how many weeks I was and that it seemed to early for the test. They had me come in, despite me being out of town (3+ hours away) and paying out of pocket. Upon coming in for the appointment, the doctor tells me that I in fact can not get the test or any test. The billing department refused to speak to me or offer me anything for their mistake. I was made to pay the full $600 for no test and a lot of attitude from the entire staff. 3) The final straw for me. At 15 weeks, I had severe back pain and came in to make sure everything was okay. I again had to wait 45+ minutes, undressed for anyone to see me. The woman administering the ultrasound didn't speak the entire time or show me the screen, so I had no idea what was going on. After 6 excruciating minutes she finally spoke to me and told me everything was fine. I then move on to the doctor who gave me about 4 minutes of her time, told me to take a Tylenol, and I was on my way. The lack of any sort of care at in person visits during a time that is supposed to be beautiful and exciting has prompted me to write this review. I had high hopes for this place and it ended up causing me a lot of stress in my first trimester. The only positive was Dr. Woodward who would answer my emails and questions- and t The concept is great and having everything in one place certainly is convenient, but the management and staff are to put it bluntly, terrible. I am so glad I was able to switch to a new practice. **UPDATE** the billing department just called me- essentially said "what do you want" and we're extremely rude. I asked to speak to the manager and was not able to be put on the phone with them. from bad to worse! read more

I love the doctors here, they're so kind & trusting. However, it's the receptionists & nurse practitioners that are making me leave this practice. I got bloodwork done and it was a nurse's first day, she stabbed me 3x with the needle and was unsuccessful. 4th time needle went in but she didn't hold it and the needle popped out of my arm and blood literally squirted all over us bc she admitted to using the wrong needle and it had burst my veins. I tried to brush this incident off but honestly my experience today did it for me. I got a really bad UTI yesterday, u know how painful those are! They were able to squeeze me in yesterday which is amazing bc I wanted to start the medication straight away. It's now day 2 and no medication bc my pharmacy was out of stock. That's fine, not Pure's fault. But the receptionist was so rude and unhelpful when I called explaining my situation and if I could find a different pharmacy that has it in stock bc I'm in so much pain and bc I'm delayed on the meds, now I have a fever. It's so important for me to have a team of healthcare professionals that treat me with kindness & understanding. Sad to accept that I have to find a new doctor. This place ain't it! read more

Sadly I can't recommend Pure OBGYN. Went in for a routine IUD insertion which, as mandated by federal law, should be FULLY COVERED by insurance. Was given a BS charge for the ultrasound they used to guide IUD insertion. Tried to fight it, even got in touch with someone at the National Women's Law Center who assured me that this is a common way that women are overcharged (illegally!!!!). Fought it as much as I could but eventually just gave up and paid. Will now go to a different OBGYN and can't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I would avoid this place at all costs. After reading several reviews, It seems like I am not the only one who is being chased for payment years after the service provided. They sent me a "final notice" payment in July 2021 when the service was provided in 2018, but they never have once gave me a call or email to let me know that I had payment due. Now they are demanding payment, when I have no record or recollection of what I paid prior to that. Dr. Becker was really nice, but it is so unfortunate that the customer service and billing department in the clinic is so horrible to deal with. Sounds like a complete mess and nightmare. read more

I try not to write negative reviews but this healthcare practice is so unprofessional that women need to be warned. If anyone reading this is considering going here for care, look elsewhere. I wish I had. My doctors and nurses were kind and professional but the experience after I left the office is the reason for my review. I was harassed by their billing department for years (no exaggeration) getting calls and bills in the mail for ever-changing and arbitrary amounts despite having paid my bill. I don't know if this was a record keeping problem or what was going on but it was unbelievable. Now four years after I thought this was behind me I was contacted again requesting more money in another seemingly random amount. I do not know how to get them to stop but if you're reading this you at least have the chance keep this from happening to you. read more
