The first few times I went here I didn't know what to expect. I have now gone about 10 times and love this location. Shawna's classes are amazing I love them! The studio is small but nice. They are a bunch of reformers. The classes usually fill up quick. Check in is easy and there are straps to borrow if you don't have your own but I would recommend getting your own. There is also socks and straps for purchase. I haven't gone to the other location and don't plan to. There is a part of the wall that seems to have come off where there were straps and things to use for the workouts. Not sure when theyll fix that. read more

I have been a client of pure Pilates since 2017 and love this studio. A great team of instructors that provide a variety of workouts, with most classes providing modifications to allow for a more intense or more relaxed workout based on each clients' needs. Studios are well maintained and accessories are updated regularly to make sure everything is in quality condition. Instructors provide a great workout while also creatively engaging with clients so that you're not constantly focusing on the intensity/length of the workout. I came to Pilates after a year in bed with a major lupus flare. I arrived so weak I was hardly able to support my own body weight which was at that time very low. Six years later I am strong and doing more than my doctors thought I'd be able to do. I do Pilates 2-3 times per week and walk an average of 20 miles per week with bike rides thrown in when possible. I am living a healthy life and I attribute a lot of it to the strong core that I have developed through Pilates. i'm a regular at pure pilates and I usually have a very good time and enjoy all the instructors but I just had my first negative encounter with a woman/instructor named Christine I could not believe how rude she was to not only me but also my friend that I was bringing in for the first time to try pilates she is now scared to come back and I am now pissed and I never want to come back to the studio and it really bothers me I actually really like the studio but this made me really not wanna come back I am absolutely blown away by the way she was talking to us about trying to simply book a class. she was talking down to us like she's better than us and had a big attitude! 3 stars bc I have had great experiences here. but not 5 stars thanks to christine read more

The place is clean and gorgeous. The website and scheduling are great....now let's get to the serious stuff. The instructors are here to kick our ass*s into shape and damn those women are good at their jobs. I personally love all girls in this place. Very good at what they do...top favs...Heather and Alyson. Both are very knowledgeable about Pilates. Heather is rockabilly/zen/very sweet - she pushes me when I'm lazy and knows I can do more than I show most of the time and encourages me to go the distance. Alyson - sweet/sassy - totally fun girl, absolutely no non-sense, motivates me to work hard. Like a cute little drill instructor! With both these gals I always leave feeling like I've had a great workout. They both push hard to help you shape the body you want. Some last details about this place, sure its not the cheapest, but because it's the best! The machines are top of line, maintained very well. Clean, beautiful studio. If you want to try pilates for the first time, this is the place to start. I took many intro to pilates classes here after discovering this place back in September. They have the best instructors yet. They are very knowledgeable and attentive. The best intro classes I have taken were with Judi, who was extremely helpful, encouraging, and hands-on (showed how to use the equipment and do proper form throughout the entire class, didn't leave anyone dangling). This place got me hooked onto pilates. Most of the people in the class are also pretty nice. It's a nice and clean studio with a beautiful bathroom. It's my first time doing Pilates so I am not sure if all Pilates studios have similar class format? There was a very soft background music which is not for motivation purpose. I got very clear verbal instruction for what to do from the instructor and looked at other students so I had something visual too to follow. I guess it's because we were on the reformers so the instructor was required to walk around and checked on us and adjusted us if needed. It's very different from barre , pole fitness, kick boxing or other group workouts where the instructors actually do it together with you while playing motivation music. Took the All Level class, booty was a little sore during class but I didn't sweat at all, and was not sore after almost 24 hours neither. I would recommend this to people who just start to workout, seniors or someone who is recovering from injury. read more

Totally new to this thing called Pilates and completely out of shape. That being said I have to tell you in just three weeks I feel and look better. My boyfriend could tell a difference in my body after only one week. The instructors are amazing and so is the studio. I go to both Laguna Niguel and the new one in RSM and they are both wonderful. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I switched here from Fitness Elite and I am sticking w/ this place because of the instructors! There are beginner reformer classes, intermediate reformer classes, and bootcamp pilates classes. The bootcamp classes are AWESOME. You get a cardio and pilates workout, who could ask for more?? I have already bought packages for myself, my cousin, my mom, and referred my workout buddy to this place. I've gone to Pure Pilates since 2006 and I've used both the Laguna Niguel and Ladera Ranch locations. I've had a variety of instructors and love all of them. This studio is great for beginners and advanced alike and offers a wide variety of class levels so you can find something you are comfortable with. Classes are small enough for you to receive personal attention and the equipment is always clean. Their website allows you to manage your class schedule online which is nice, but if you need to call, Sue is always helpful. They are also very accommodating. I was put on modified bed rest (due to pregnancy) after just purchasing a new package and Sue refunded me with without any problem. Now that I can go back to classes, Heather makes all of the necessary prenatal modifications for me and helps me work at a pace that is comfortable for me--all while keeping the rest of the class going at the level suitable for them. I don't feel like an inconvenience or a bother now that I'm pregnant which is nice. Pure Pilates helped me lose 15 pounds a few years ago, is keeping me in shape during pregnancy and will help me lose my baby weight quickly. I highly recommend them. read more

I am a 55 year-old who plays tennis 4-5 days a week on many competitive leagues. I had herniated two disks in my back and was out for almost a year. I wasn't sure if I would ever get back to playing tennis. My physical therapist suggested that I try Pilates. I have now been going to Pure Pilates for about one year and I am back to playing tennis regularly. I have found Pilates to be the "magic bullet" that allows me to be active and feel great. After playing tennis, I am usually stiff and sore, but I have found that a Pilates class always makes me feel loose and flexible again, and takes away the soreness from tennis. The instructors are always very responsive to my various injuries (shoulder, knee and back) and always have good suggestions for modifications that allow me to perform the exercises without injuring myself further. I will probably always be going to Pilates classes, because it allows me to do all the other sports in my life that I love. I am totally hooked on Pure Pilates! The atmosphere is wonderfully zen, and I'm so impressed with every single trainer I've had! It seems they know just how much to push you, and they make you feel comfortable enough to ask them for clarification on the exercises. I started about 4 months ago with private sessions and decided to start taking classes. They're tough, and that's a good thing! You will definately get your money's worth if you're willing to put in the work. I have seen a big difference in my body shape. When the kids got out of school for the summer, I couldn't get into the studio for nearly 3 weeks, and I felt a big difference when I first went back. I started doing "Pure Pilates" in September of 2009 and couldn't be more satisfied! In short, it changed my life. Now I keep telling my friends and family they have to do it too! This is the first time I have stuck with an exercise regimen, ever! And now I look forward to every class. The reason is simple, Pure Pilates! It's a cozy place, the instructors are great, the classes are small and never the same; and last but not least, the exercises focus on your core, your trouble areas, in a very effective way. I had recently given birth to two 9lbs boys and being only 5ft it stretched my body to the extremes. I thought I was stuck with a stretched and weak body that needed regular chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy to function - until I began doing Pilates. I started seeing results in 2-3 weeks and when I visited my family in December they couldn't believe their eyes. My sister was amazed at how I had been able to transform my body in such a short time, and my mom was happy to see her daughter stand tall, not slouch with her tummy sticking out! Great workout! Only down was that I was new and the teacher didn't slow down or explain anything to me and it was hard to hear it all and follow what everyone already knew how to do. My low back was hurting almost the whole time and after visiting my chiropractor today he said: "be careful with Pilates, it's a great workout but I get a LOT of clients who hurt their back with it". I started going to Pure Pilates after my second child was born. I wanted to not only take off my baby weight, but also the extra 20 pounds I had put on in between babies. Well, after 4 months I did it! I have lost all my weight and my body is much more flexible and lean. While living in the OC for a month, my sister told me to get back into pilates and I found this studio--Wow! I've been doing mat pilates on and off since college, but it wasn't until I came here that I truly fell in love with pilates again. Well, it's mainly reformer pilates with a combination of weights and mat work depending on who is teaching. I think all the instructors here do a wonderful job. My favorites are Lori and Sarah--- Amy, the owner, is also good too. These instructors really work you out. I'm sad to have left the area and moving back to San Diego- I can only hope to find a pilates studio as good as Pure Pilates! read more

I've been going to Pure Pilates for more than two years now. Both studios (Laguna Niguel and Ladera Ranch) are fully equipped with reformers. Classes emphasis reformer work with mats, rollers, balls, weights and bands used supplementally. The range of instructors and variety of classes is excellent - providing for beginners to experts. My personal favorite instructors are Myra and Claudia - both are superb teachers and provide totally different workouts. The classes are never repetitive and the instruction is excellent - with supportive, real-time adjustments and options for variations to accommodate for injuries or other issues. Many clients are regulars but there are always new folks too. While we're working away there is usually some fun conversation (between my personal gasping :) ) to keep you laughing while working. My strength, tone and fitness have all improved and my arthritis and joint pain have noticeably improved since I started. Fun, helpful, hard work - Pure Pilates has it all! read more

I've been going to the Ladera Ranch studio for 2 weeks now and I love it! The owner Amy is great and always offers really good deals each month! All of the instructors are amazing and super sweet, they really help you to learn/understand the moves :) The instructor I had this morning Ania was great and helped correct my position when it needed to be fixed. I took my sister Susan this morning so she can try a class, and she loved it and sign up for 1 month unlimited class. I would highly recommend Pure Pilates to anyone looking to change their body, my legs are leaner and my abs are flatter (who doesn't want that)! It can be challenging at first, really trying to figure out the areas that you're working but again the instructors are always open to chatting after class and during they adjust you and talk you through where you should be feeling the certain movement. :) read more

I didn't find this business on yelp, but it's down the street from me and I decided to try out a reformer class...I AM HOOKED! at this point, having done classes 5 days a week in the last month, I have tried almost all the instructors and they are ALL great and very knowledgeable. They explain everything so well and are so fun to work with. The hour goes by so fast! I'm watching my body transform before my eyes so quickly. I'm going to be completely honest about this place. I went four times a week for a month with the intention of taking a one year membership since it is close to where I live. I wanted to like it. I am small, and wanted to tone my body, maybe lose a few pounds but mostly tighten everything up and stay that way. After a month, in retrospect I think of this as AARP pilates. You really don't break a sweat, or need water after the workout. I didn't look any different a month later, training four times a week. The first week I was there, A SPRING BROKE and THREW ME ON TO THE GROUND and the reaction of the owner was Öh that has never happened before, I guess it needed to be replaced. I was pretty badly bruised, seriously upset, it took me a couple of months to gather my courage and get back in the saddle so to speak, and how did she compensate me? Not a free month, physical therapy, Dr's, etc, Five free classes that I basically had to beg for. They have so many student teachers, there are a couple of good Sr. Teachers but they keep interspersing them with the ones that are learning, that you don't end up with a good workout. At the end of the month I was so disgusted. A neighbor recommended Pilates Plus Laguna Niguel and this is my second week. It is kicking my ass and it is AMAZING. read more

Best pilates studio in OC - hands down. Warning: this is not a place for girls to go pass time and make friends - if you don't want to work hard & change your body don't come here... THEY MEAN BUSINESS! I enjoy it more than anything else but that is because I love the extent they push us to and the changes I see in myself...it is amazing how hard you can work your body if you have the right people behind you. My instructor is Jessica and she is amazing. Amy is the owner and has a background in physical therapy too so she is great for anyone with an injury. Another Pure Pilates was just opened in Ladera Ranch and the same trainers will be working there in addition to a few others. Lauren is a newbie and is really good too especially at mixing it up and getting you off the reformers but of course, Jessica is my favorite and is the perfect combination of tough & nice. She kicks your butt - seriously. If it's your first time, you won't be walking the next day no joke. But in just 1 year she has completely changed my body from head to toe, I am stronger than I ever have been my entire life and I enjoy it while I'm there because they make it interesting. I have been to several pilates places and none of them worked me even close to as hard as I am worked here. Anyone interested in changing their body or improving their strength should try a session at Pure Pilates. I do a mix of private sessions and group classes, about 3 times minimum per week and have gotten more out of it than I ever thought I could. read more

I absolutely loved the class, the room and apparatus' were clean and relaxing and I thought Amy was a fantastic instructor. I've always wanted to try pilates, but just never had the time or the opportunity or the momentum to get me in there. After paying for months of virtually unused gym membership, never seeing any real results, and being completely unmotivated, I considered getting a personal trainer. Having recently turned 40 and having 2 children, I really wanted to work on me and getting myself into shape...but I wanted to see some actual results. Knowing that Pure Pilates was just around the corner, I decided to drop the gym membership and try a pilates class. I love pilates!!! After just one month, I have seen real results. And so has my husband. I am feeling really good in a bikini, which I had just about given up on. My abs have always been a weak area for me, and I was looking forward to the core training that pilates had to offer. Little did I know that the first place I would see results was in my arms. I have been going to Pure Pilates for 2 years and absolutely love it. I have bad lower back and neck problems and the instructors take great in knowing about injuries and finding alternatives so I can still get a good workout. Also, I have two young children who have gotten sick within the 24 hour cancellation time and have had only good experiences with getting a make- up class (this has not been the case at other Pilate studios in our area).
