All of the staff was extremely kind and patient with us, my son has had some past dental work trauma so it can be difficult to get him to relax and feel safe. Let's put it this way, we drive 2 1/2 hours each way to go to this dentist. I received an opinion that my daughter needed a baby root canal on one of her teeth so I received a second opinion from Dr. Kimi. She examined my daughter, took additional x-rays of the teeth, and gave us a treatment plan that I was comfortable with. Dr. Kimi was not available on the day I needed so I went with Dr. Diana. I would like to express immense gratitude to Dr. Diana. She treated 3 cavities on my 5 year old daughter. Dr. Diana was professional, relatable as a mother, and very very caring. For the first three months of his life, my son was struggling with breastfeeding and gas issues, and for the first three months his pediatrician and lactation consultant said not to worry. He was constantly leaking milk out of the sides of his mouth, had lip blisters, and gas. In my gut, I knew he needed help. After a friend recommended Dr. Kimi, I called the office and was given an appointment very quickly. Dr. Kimi conducted a lip/tongue tie assessment and sure enough he not only had a lip and tongue tie, but cheek ties as well. My poor boy. Dr. Kimi was able to do the procedure that same visit and followed up with me later that evening via text which I appreciated so much as a first time mom. As we went for our follow up appointment Dr. Kimi noticed that his tongue tie was not healing as well as the other ties (I'm sure that was partly my fault since I was honestly scared of doing his mouth stretches and causing him pain- again, first time mom here). She continued to follow up with us and even saw my son each week for three weeks to make sure that he was healing properly. With her busy schedule, I'm so thankful that she took the time to accommodate us. My son is now 6 months and he's such a happy baby. No more breastfeeding or gas issues! I took my 18 month old here for a regular checkup. We first heard of Pure Smiles at our local farmers market and found out the first checkup is free before age 2 so we scheduled one for her. I made the appointment online via their website which was super easy. First of all, the office is beautiful and welcoming! They really decorated it so nicely! Dr. Kimi was so friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. She was really gentle and good with my daughter and her assistant was great too. Dr. Kimi tested her saliva's pH and found it to be slightly acidic which means she's more cavity-prone. SO cool how she did that because I had no idea! She gave us some helpful advice on how to prevent cavities, what foods to avoid, etc. The room we were in also had a bookshelf filled with toys that my daughter enjoyed playing with while we discussed, which was great. Overall, their whole concept is nice and I love how they use more non-invasive procedures and nontoxic materials-- a more natural and gentle approach than most dentists. Reasons why I continue to go to Dr. Kimmy: - She's very knowledgeable when it comes to the holistic side of dental health and so are her hygienists. It's the best when you can find a doctor that knows health from both ends of the spectrum- conventional and holistic. - They use products as well as instruments that a lot of pediatric dentists do not have. - She treats the root cause of the issue. - Very nice and personable staff. - My kids love it there! Dr. Kimi and her staff are the absolute best. I have 2 child, ages 13 months and 3 years. I took both to Pure Smiles today because my 13 month old needed to have a laser frenulectomy due to an upper lip tie. Dr. Kimi and her staff were so great with both of the kids (even though my oldest was not there for treatment today). They have the most adorable office equipped with multiple play areas for the children. My 3 year old was well entertained while Dr. Kimi examined my other child. Dr. Kimi took the time to explain the procedure to me and the procedure itself was quick. They brought my son back out to me within minutes of starting the procedure. I really love this office because I don't feel like we are just another number. Dr. Kimi has great bedside manner and made sure that I had all of the information I needed before starting the procedure. Her front and back office staff are friendly and warm as well. To say that I'm upset is an understatement! I'm just exhausted. Today my daughter is so worn out with dr Kimmy, that it will take me a long time to help her recover and improve the situation. I have been searching for a holistic clinic where my daughter can receive proper care, with more gentle and natural treatment principles, without the need for anesthesia. Price and distance are not important to me, I am willing to pay any amount to ensure my child's well-being. I traveled from San Diego to see the doctor for a paid consultation , where we discussed my daughter's dental issues and treatment plan. We were assured that the procedure would be done with laser technology, making it painless without the need for pain injections or drill. We purchased the recommended products in the office and left feeling optimistic and happy for great opportunity. Our appointment was initially scheduled for 7 am, but was later rescheduled to 8 am by them. My 8-year-old daughter was prepared. We showed her a video of how teeth are treated with laser, she was greeted with gifts by us and she came in like a fighter! However, something went wrong. In the end, my child was given a double dose of local anesthesia in the gum with a many shots , laughing gas was administered, and they used a drill instead of a laser or both.. My daughter was under extreme stress and was literally shaking from pain in the chair. She asked for breaks every 10 seconds to calm down, but the doctor said she didn't have time as she had another client waiting. I understand emergencies arise, but could you not have stayed longer to ensure my daughter's procedure was completed properly? In the end, they drilled a hole in her tooth, failed to remove all cavities , and covered it with a temporary filling. With words, you need to go back with anaesthesia or whatever we want and finish this tooth. Caries continues to grow there! And yes, if your temporary plasticine filling comes out, just cover the tooth with a dental thing from CVS! Are you serious? I came far away to naturally cure a child's tooth, and received double anaesthesia injections, a drill, stress, shock, tears, and an open tooth with caries. How can I bring her back there? I don't understand. She's in tears, asking not to go back anymore. I don't understand how long we can wait with an open tooth! I came for a paid consultation, and what they told us was a treatment plan. Guys, if you can't handle this cavity, don't bother. Just tell me! In the end, it is not the parents who are not ready, nor the child! If I knew that traditional methods of treatment would be used such as a drill, anesthesia through an injection, gas, I would mentally prepare myself and the child for traditional methods and in different clinics. Perhaps my child is more sensitive to pain. If she had been assured from the beginning that everything would happen quickly and painlessly, without a drill or injection, and then they used them all, I think every child would be in shock! I'm very upset... I feel so bad, like a mother who assured her child that it wouldn't hurt and everything would be smooth. It turned out the other way around. We have to fly away on vacation in the next 2 days, and I won't even have time to make a new appointment anywhere. read more

Dr. Kimi and her staff are simply amazing! Our equally amazing doula Tasha Boyd recommended her office to us after it became clear that the pain and damage I was experiencing nursing our 6 week old wasnt going to improve until her tongue and lip ties were revised. Dr Kimi is extremely experienced and knowledgeable and kind and caring as well. She explained exactly what was going on inside our baby's mouth that was causing the problem (restricted movement was causing her to use her gums to nurse-ouch!) She also explained that ties can cause acid reflux and grassiness, as well as speech problems later. The procedure was very quick, and afterwards Dr Kimi showed us the exercises becessary to make sure things healed properly. Her staff is awesome too-super friendly and offers water/coffee, and there is a playroom for kids too. Post procedure, things improved dramatically. Dr Kimi saved our breastfeeding relationship!
